It should. Just place the BIOS somewhere in C drive. Sometimes it'll find it, sometimes it won't.

I'm thinking it should, as long as you have enough power from the PSU.

On a side note, my friend is dropping a 6000+ windsor into his m2n-e, I see a couple of you guys who have it... I'm assuming it works fine and it can handle the 125W TDP?

I have managed to corrupt my bios using the ASUS windows based flash utility. My system no longer boots or even beeps when powered up. I have tried following your instructions and those in the manual on using the ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3 utility to no avail. On powerup with the support CD in the drive and / or with a USB flash disk with the correct BIOS, I get no video or beeps. Any thoughts? This was a great working MN2-E, XP Pro system prior to the windows flash fiasco. :disgust:

Here's what my system is doing, maybe one of you have ran into this type of thing before, atm my 2500 amd is faster then this pos.

Just put this computer together a few days ago and it has some lag issues which i cannot figure out. If i go to load internet explorer the system will lag and it usually takes 10 to 15 minutes to load a single webpage (while its doing this if i bring up the task manager it will show cpu usage at 55% and higher, i tried mozilla and its no different - takes just as long to load a page) it does the same thing when opening a file or picture on the desktop. It also seems to be affecting internet speed - usually when im downloading a song for example it will start out at 500+ kb/sec and within 2 seconds it will be down to 20 - 25 kb/sec yet im on dsl and my other computer doesn't have this issue. I have the latest drivers installed.

Here are the system specs -

I'm running windows xp pro sp1 atm (it had the same issues when i was fully updated to right before sp3), was sp2 with everyting latest but i tried a repair (a friend on another bored's idea) and it didnt fix anything, so im debating whether or not to update it all again. Besides the video card, hard drive, and soundcard everything else came from newegg, the vid card and hd came from best buy (had to exchange a 8600gt and picked up the hd when i was down there, they put both in the tower in front of me but didnt install anything) the soundcard came from another tower, i think its an older creative sb-live.

When putting the system together i went into the bios to turn the voltage for the ram up to 1.95. If i go into device manager no matter what i do it shows a pci device with a yellow question mark next to it that never goes away (i have tried all the drivers from the manufacturer website and the mobo cd, but nothing works.) My soundcard is in another slot and shows its working fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you updated the board's Bios? I'm running 802 bios with zero problems. I was on XP SP3 also but I am now running Vista.

Have you installed the AMD Dual Core Optimiser? (XP only)

I also used to have a that sound card, and also had the same problem. I remember some serious Googling gave me the answer to the problem, but I forget what that was now.

The only other problems may be a bad board or the RAM may not be compatible with the M2N-E. (the link to the ram doesn't work for me)

I updated the bios to 1401 which it showed was the latest but it didnt change anything, im back on bios revision 1202 right now.

Come to think of it when the system does lag it acts almost like its having ram issues, ive had it blue screen 2 times, and sometimes when opening ie7 after lagging for a bit the ie page will turn blue. Here's the closest ram i could find to match mine on newegg - http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231098
The part # for mine is F2-6400CL5-1GBNQ. Currently the ram is running at 1.95v.

Yeah i have the dual core optimizer installed.

Could the soundcard be the reason why its lagging like this when opening ie7 or a pic/file on the dekstop? I tried googling it as well but have yet to find anything.

Don't think the sound card would cause the problem. Have you tried formatting and reinstalling windows? When installing the NForce mobo drivers just install the drivers and not the other features.

Just moved across town so i havnt had any time to, im gonna reformat and reinstall windows this next weekend and try what you said above johnno, if it still does the same thing after reformatting and letting windows update im just going to rma the board and buy something else; imo no motherboard is worth this many problems. Thanks for the help so far i really appreciate it

Specs:

Asus m2n-e
Albatron GeForce 7900GT
2x 1GB Corsair ValueSelect DDR2 667Mhz
AMD Athlon 3800+ X2
Some LG DVD Combo drive

Ok hopefully u guys can help me!

This is not necessarily an m2ne specific problem but it might be.

It started out with my computer getting frequent BSOD when trying to watch any movie. After some research i found it it had to do with the drivers and the nvlddmkm.sys file. This is a nvidia problem on vista that loads of people have and extends over all the nvidia series. So i followed a guide to delete and uninstall all the existing nvidia drivers so i could get rid of the problem. The first copy of driver cleaner i obtained had a trojan in it. Ofcourse i deleted it as soon as i saw this and obtained another copy of driver cleaner. After following this guide I ended up with having no drivers at all and unable to install new ones as it stated "Access denied". So now im running on what i think is onboard graphics. not sure though.

As if thats not enough when i uninstalled the nvidia drivers from controlpanel i accidentally uninstalled all nvidia drivers and not only the graphics drivers so now my cd drive wont load any cds. This might not be because of that because it wont load any system cds either. it can open and close and its recognized by both the bios and vista but it wont load any cds. Great!

Did u think i was done? Wrong! When i start up my bios random letters are capitalized and some are even replaced with other symbols. I have always had some random rainbow pixel clutter on my screen that move around. around 10-15pixels that come on and of. but they are not dead pixels cause they rotate and dissapear aswell .

Tried to remove the battery and change the jumpers to clear cmos. Nothing! Tried to flash bios with a floppy boot disk. The flash utility keeps hanging when i try to flash.
Im running out of ideas. I cant even format the computer since the dvd drive doesnt work.
Mobo cant be destroyed cause then I wouldnt sit here writing. Run memtest over night last week and no problems there.

Im starting to think i have some virus of doom.
Maybe the graphicscard is somewhat toast but i dont understand the drive/flash part? 3 major problems at the same time.
The Computer has been working for a long time without problems. the only problem ive had has been the nvlddmkm.sys problem. But before I only got it while playing BFME so i didnt pay much attention to it at that time.

So I tried the C: drive but it can never find the downloaded file where ever i put it or what format its in,
I really could do with updating, I have a X26400 sat there waiting to be overclocked but need to update 1st..
As for the overclocks I get, are Crap, all it seems to do is De-clock what ever I do

Hello everyone, I am also new here. I have the asus m2n-e that I couldn't get to work. Please help.
My problem with this motherboard is that it won't boot. When I press the power button, it powers on the cpu fan is spinning and that's it. I don't hear any beeps and there's no light on the keyboard. My computer specs:

kingston 512MB at 1.8V (KVR667D2N5/512),
athlon 64 3500+ (ADA3500IAA4CN),
GeForce 7300 GS
Ultra 500w PSU from my working computer to try on this board.

I read about grounding problems, so I took my mobo out and put it on a piece of cardboard and tried it. Still no luck. I can't get to the bios and update if necessary, because there's no response. I also tried resetting the cmos and taking everything out except the ram, cpu, and video card but still nothing.
Other things I have tried or tested:
2 video cards pulled from my working computers and put on this board
Booting with one ram (tried it in each slot)
Remembered to plug in the additional 4-pin power to the cpu
Took out the heatsink and cpu and cleaned off the old thermal paste and putting new paste on
Remembered to plugged in the cpu fan
Thanks for reading and any help anyone can provide. Sorry for writing too much.

I registered me just for answer you question I hope this info can help...

Now it's my turn, i have a problem too

I can't get over 238FSB. Currently i'm using 230fsb with my Sempron 3000 Manila 8*230 = 1840mhz Idle= 34°C Full= 49°C, i want 250FSB for have 2000mhz clock.
My settings in bios are:
Bios Version 1701
FSB: 230
HT mult: 4x
PEG link: Disabled
PCI-E: 100mhz
RAM: set to 533mhz
CPU Vcore: 1.35v stock, but i tested 1.375v and 1.4v.

If i go over 238FSB system won't boot, my system specs are: Sempron 3000+, M2N-E (bios 1701), 2x 512mb DDR2-667mhz, XFX 7600GT 256MB, HUNTKEY 450W, 250GB SataII Samsung.

I upgrade my Sempron 3000 to a Athlon x2 5200 Brisbane, now i can get 250 FSB on motherboard easy, my Sempron was the problem.
I had tested x2 5200 2.7@3.0ghz and it's stable, rock solid

I don't usually bump old thread but there has been some nice updates for the M2N-E on the firmware / CPU support front.

This year, Asus has released 2 BIOS, the 3001 beta and 5001 beta, with the former adding support for Athlon II and Phenom II CPUs under 95W (x2, x3 and x4 CPUs listed). The 5001 beta does not stipulate what new AM3 CPUs have been added aside from:

Code:
M2N-E beta BIOS 5001
Beta support AM3 CPU
Note: Remove Mylogo function.

A Japanese guy posted this a little while ago after updating to 3001:

Unfortunately, he was not able to boot into Windows.

One of the things about the 3001 BIOS is that it does not support Phenom II CPUs that are higher than 95W leading people to hypothesize that it's a hardware limitation. With that said, the new 95W X6s are coming out so I suspect the 5001 BIOS will support them. Those will include the Phenom II X6 1035T and 1055T 95W out now in Japan while the 1045T will be out later this fall.

I still have an M2N-E I use as a backup gaming rig so it would be nice to try upgrading to an X6 1035T from my old X2 5000+ BE.
