By default the AGP slot is shared by the onboard usb controller HCO and HC3.
Look at page 2-15 of the manual. USB controllers HC1 and HC2 are not shared
and you may be able to disable two of the USB controllers or all of them
depending on your configuartion.

Yep - It is a great board
I would recommend that you go with the newly released P4P800, however.
Same and better performance for less $$
Might want to reconsider the PC3200LL for some HyperXPC3500
What cpu are you going to be using??? Can get more info if you can list
your other equipment.

First..whats the difference with the p4p800 and the p4c800? Second i plan to be using a..

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor 3GHz, 800MHz FSB, Socket 478 Retail
VisionTek Xstasy Radeon 9800 pro 128 or a Nvidia 5900 128 (when it comes out)
As for memeory i saw someone do this for a benchmarking so i chose to put in
Corsair TWINX512-3200LLPT 512MB DDR400 XMS3200 Dual-Channel Memory w/Platinum Heat Spreader Retal
AND
Corsair CMX512-3200LLPT 512MB DDR400 XMS3200 Low Latency SPD Memory w/Platinum Heat Spreader Retail

Both moduals on the board along with a Sound Blastery audigy Platnium
I Also just put ina brand new Antec Truepower 430 PSU
all inside an AlienwAre Case...

Enough info or need more

oh btw i have a intel desktopboard 850 in this right now with a 1.8 gig processor running at 512 PC800..

The P4P800 uses the Chipset: 865PE + ICH5R
The P4C800 uses the Chipset: 875P + ICH5 and is about $60 more.

Read this review that BigToe just completed.

I have used 4 different memory modules on this board including the TwinX3200LL
Since you are going to use a 3.0C cpu, those should be just fine. Most ppl are running
the 2.4C or 2.6C with a higher fsb and need better ram.

Nice rig you are putting together there.

There really is no benefit. Both of these modules are Winbond CH5 chips (5ns).
The only difference between them is that Corsair tests the TwinX Modules together and
at the Lower Latency. Therefor they will guarantee them do run at that spec. It is basically
a way to charge a little more and advertise the TwinX, but with the Corsair reputation and
warranty they can do this.

Once I tested Kingston HyperX-3500, TwinMos PC3500, OCZ 3500EL and TwinMos PC3700,
that is when I stopped paying the higher price for Corsair. Don't get me wrong, Corsair
makes great ram and stands behind their products.

Just for the record my HyperX-PC3500 is running CL2-2-2-5-1T command at DDR432 with 2.85vdimm
but the Corsair TwinX3200 that I had just would not run above DDR416.

Well i dont plan to overclock anything in my board so what would you recomend me to do with this memory what would be better for me both price wise and spec wise..? i dont know much when it comes to memory so im listening toy uo on this but i need a pc3200 i know that..
thanks!

also i did some looking aorund and this is what i cam to...

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor 2.8GHz, 800MHz FSB, Socket 478 Retail
Asus P4C800 Deluxe i875P P4 (800FSB) Skt478 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, LAN, RAID/Serial ATA Retail
Vantec AeroFlow CPU Cooler (Intel) Retail
Cooler Master PTK-001 Premium Thermal Compount Kit Retail

Now all that left is the memory as long as its pc3200 and it's Fast and its gona be used for everyday puting and gaming...512 or 1 gig dont matter

thanks

Since you are not going to OC, then just stay with what you have.

And again if you are not going to OC, I do not see any reason to spend
$$ on a cooler. You can use the Intel sink. I use a SLK900U with a 92mm
panaflo 57cfm on mine but I am running 270fsb.

Thugsrook did a good comparison Here on a couple of heatsinks also.
But again - you won't need super cooling to run stock.

I ordered the P4P800 and have 2 sticks of 256 OCZ PC3500EL Dual channel waiting in the wings.I have had them as high as 474 and 476 DDR.I will be using a 2.4B at 3.56GHz until I get a 2.6C chip preferrably.

Which one is the correct one to download? B16 or B25? I'm assuming 25, but I don't want to fudge anything up. Oh, and if you have installed this, could you "feel" the speed increase? I just built this machine with SATA RAID 0 config and was a bit dissapointed in the performance, but wasn't sure if this was a bug/problem or I just couldn't tell because I upgraded from a 700 MHz machine and expected too much

*Bump* which driver?

Ok after hours of doing my homework i think i narrowed it down to 3 mobos..

Asus P4C800 Deluxe i875P P4 (800FSB) Skt478 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, LAN, RAID/Serial ATA Retail (190$)

Gigabyte GA-8KNXP i875P P4 (800FSB) Skt478 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, RAID, Serial ATA Retail (227$)

Intel D875PBZLK i875P P4 (800FSB)Skt478 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Gigabit LAN, RAID/Serial ATA (166$)

I know i am becoming a pain in the a$s for all my question and im sorry but i 100% narrowed it down to either of these two see what you can make of it...

what i make of it..im not going to overclock my pc prolly never...so people said i should go with the intel...and i have an intel board now and have no complaints...but then if you try the gigabyte and Asus you get speical add on feutures and addons but then you have some downfalls....now i picked my processor 3.c gig and Corsair TwinX 512 plat heat spreader....now all i need is to pick my mobo please this is prolly my last post concerning mobos PLEASE write back even if you have the smallest idea..im drawn right in the middle of them all..

thanks

Need a little help here, please! Bumped from my post a ways back in this thread....

Can someone please clear-up my confusion about using the ATA133 'edge'-connector on this board?

I simply want to connect an ATA133 Maxtor to that channel as a NON-RAID (standard) drive - is that doable?

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, I'll start giving it a try.

Only question I have is when you say you have it set to SPD. Did you leave it on AUTO or did you disable and set to 2-2-2-6 or some other settings

Thanks for the reply

Andy, thanks for confirming that I can connect my ATA133 Maxtor to the board's 'edge-connector' as a NON-RAID (standard) drive... Can you please elaborate as to the procedure (e.g., will I have to load the Promise driver)?

every peice of hardware requires drivers. Look in your device manager "start->control panael->system...hardware tab->device manager"
and look to see what hardware doesn't have the drivers loaded yet. For a senior member i would figure that you know this already?

Just wondering if that put-down made you feel really good? Not that I need an excuse, but my dad is 'senior guy' and I'm using his PC while I'm building my computer (he could have easily helped me, but he's in Iraq) !

I hope to order this mobo soon, but i read posts that said that their is a problem with the RAID controller. I want to do raid 0 with 2 WD 80gb hard drives. Has this problem been fixed with a bios update? Also i plan to use windows xp pro with SP1.

Hi all great forum!

I just bought a new system w/ the p4c800 deluxe, P4 w/ 800FSB and WinBond 3200 400 DDR DC mem. (Latest BIOS w/ the Asus BIOS upgrade prog)

First off the AGP for this board is supposed to be 8x right? Where do I check to see if this is so?

My memory says it's running at 320 instead of 400. I think I read in an earlier post that one needs to change the ratio settings. Is this correct and what should I set them to?

Finally how is the OC going? I know that the bios can be set to run at 30%OC but I'm wondering if this is stable.

Thanks for your time.

Hello all...

I am looking to build a new PC, most likely a P4 3.0 800fsb and 2 SATA WD raptors in Raid 0 running XP-SP1. Question i hae is what mother board would be best... I was leaning towards the Asus till I read somewhere the SATA performance did not work or was really poor in performance. Could anyone clear this up for me?

I just got this board and have a couple of questions. Well, one question and a problem really.

First, in the BIOS, there is an additional RAM timing setting that I am not familiar with. I can't remember what it is (I'm running a benchmark right now or I'd check), but it's listed after the precharge latency. I don't recall my RAM (Kingston HyperX PC3200) listing a rating for that value. The options are 2,4,8 clocks (I think). I have it at 8 right now. Would my RAM be able to handle something lower?

Also, I am having a problem running 3dMark2003. I ran it once yesterday with the RAM timings all set to the default (2-3-3-7-8) and it was able to finish (score of like 5144). I set the timings today to 2-2-2-6-8 (which is what my ram is rated at) and now 3dmark just crashes to the desktop with no error messages or anything. It will get almost all the way through but just dumps at random places. Any thoughts? I'm going to reset my timings to see if that helps, but if I can't run stably at my rated timings is that a motherboard issue?
