If that doesn't work, try a slight increase in voltage to your VAGP (say 1.55V), though that's a scary proposition for obvious reasons.

How can i write down the error, as my computer resets its self right after the blue screen comes up?

Does this motherboard come with a cable or board that allows use of the onboard gameport connector? I love my old Microsoft Sidewinder pads (the USB versions stink) and would like to keep using them without buying a soundcard or joystick card.

Also, if it operates in safe mode you probably have an AGP or DirectX problem. Set both to 4X, and try a reinstall of DX9. I take it the rest of what I said was trash? Sorry, I figure even if I post a wrong answer someone will use that opportunity to point out my inadequate knowledge of computers. I never had a video error like that. Memory dumps, certainly, but it's been a while for that also.

Doesn't come with an onboard connector, but I believe you can buy the connextor (hooks into a PCI slot) from a local Asus rep.

So how exactly do I set my video card to run at 4x? Shouldnt it automatically detect it? I havnt tried running it in Safe mode for a long time, but i did have it running in there at one point.

I do it through SmartGart, which may bot be standard (Rafe3d?). You can also try turning off fast writes, see if that helps. I remember a few people having that problem when the board first came out, I assumed it was fixed in a BIOS update.

with my raid, when you install Windows XP, you have ot press F6 and install your Raid drivers. they do not come with Windows XP.

I think that is the only way to get it to work. Not sure though.

LOL - No question that the i875 is much more stable at higher fsb over any i865.

Okay,
I have some questions about my P4P800 Deluxe.

Memory- I've heard everything from Crucial to Corsail and everything in between. What I really want to know, is if anyone is running GeIL PC3500 RAM?

I have a single stick of the CAS 2.5 6-3-3 2T PC3500 DDR 433Mhz. RAM. It is running in single channel at rated clock rates.

I want to get another stick of the same RAM and run them at 512 MB in single, until I can spring for the Canterwood CPU.

I ordered a stick from Googlegear, but they sent me CAS 2 PC3500 Ultra RAM instead.

So, now I am looking at the newegg site, and see a dual channel memory motherboard set of two 256 MB DIMMS of PC3500 DDR with SPD settings for these motherboards.

Is anyone using this RAM?

Has anyone had any trouble doing RAID 0? Finally got all my stuff working (so far) and Im trying to set up my P-ATA drives as a RAID 0, but in the RAID utility, it only shows the option for RAID 1.

Erhm ... simple question really:

SATA is the new connection "protocol" for HD

What about PATA? If it stands for Parallel ATA, is it the ordinary IDE connectors?

Can anyone tell me how to use AFUDOS to update my bios to 1009? The instructions aren't very clear to me.

Thanks in advance.

1. Create a DOS boot disk and copy the afudos.exe and bios file (say p4p81009.ami) file to the disk.

2. Boot to dos using the disk created in #1

3. At the a:> prompt, type the command:
afudos /ip4p81009.ami

The assumption is that you are updating from BIOS v1008. If you are updating from v.1005, the procedure is different. Download v.1006 or v.1008 and update as per instructions in the zip file. For those versions, afudos.exe should NOT be used. Update to one of these versions before updating to v.1009. To be extra safe (there is a lot of debate on whether this is required), update through each version in the order up to v.1009.

Actually, I think Smartgart is an ATI thing. You should be able to access the fast write settings as follows:
Right click on the desktop
Choose Properties
Select the settings tab
Select the advanced button

I've never run an NVidia card, so I don't know past that, but there should be something there.

You shouldnt have any problem with that ram at all. Check out the memory guide for the 865/875 boards from anandtech. That ram runs great with the board. http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.html?i=1828&p=2

I've found the same issue with the S-ATA as the P-ATA channels. I did get a good improvement installing the new Intel Chipset software available on their web site.

Well, I got my system up and running and doing good right now, but did get a little worried when the comp totally rebooted in the middle of a process. Hasnt done it since, but Im still worried. Thinkin about O\Cing in the next few days if its still stable.

Advanced Tab - Change it to manual and a world will open before you.

Don't wait to long. She may get tired.

Yeah, this board seems to like the attention. If you don't fiddle with her, she'll just get slower and slower.
