This is what FedX just delivered, I'm feeling better

OCZ DDR PC-3200 / 400mhz / Dual Channel / Enhanced Latency Series
OCZ Platinum Edition PC-3200 memory is specifically designed for ultra-low latency timing operation on both Intel and AMD chipset based motherboards. OCZ Platinum Edition PC-3200 memory is able to reach latencies as low as CL 2-2-3-5 or even lower depending on the specific motherboard!

Gonna be a fun weekend building the new beast

Strange problem...wondering if anyone else has it...

My P4P800 Deluxe works fine at up to 283MHz FSB (that's as far as I've tested). I was running some PC3500 in 5:4, but decided to get some PC4000 and PC4200 so I could run 1:1 @ 265 FSB.

Well, when I get withing 5-10MHz of the DDR's rated speed (240MHz with the PC4000 and 255MHz with the PC4200), Aquamark3 immediately starts "ripping" and "tearing," just like it would if the memory on the AGP card was overclocked too far. All other benchmarks are fine, and the system is completely stable.

I've tried changing everything in the BIOS that I can think of, so I'm wondering if it's my particular board or if it's happening to other people.

Thanks!

Are you sure your PCI/AGP bus speed is locked at 33/66MHz?

Memory: Asus manual recommends the Apacer 512mb Samsung chipset, model: 77.10736.464; Component: K4H560838D-TCC4. I'm seeing on newegg the 77.10736.46G; not 4. Is this an error in the Asus manual?

Is this the right memory I should get at newegg?

I might be digressing a bit here but does anyone know whether any boards based on the i865 chipset still have their PAT capability enabled? If so which ones? Also how much real world difference does PAT make?

It also still has Memory Acceleration Mode (PAT) as an option.

when I turn memory addressing mode on in the bios, benchmarks still show PAT disabled.

Why is this? is it because its not really PAT but rather something very similar?

I believe the answer to that is "Yes." You should notice a slight score difference when benchmarking with it enabled, but that's about it.

Typo. That should be "tested." I have no idea when Newegg will have new versions...don't work for them.

Hey guys i got this board REV 2.00. One big problem i got is that this board seems to make my PSU (antec true480) to make high pitch noises. I tried the PSU and other components like the graphics card on other machine and it was fine. When i connected the true480 back to this mobo, it started to make high pitch noises.
Can anyone help me?
should i return the mobo or issit something else?

Try another power supply on the P4P800, too. It's hard to say which is defective, the board or the PSU. My feeling is usually that whatever is making the noise is the component you need to replace.

I just got the Asus Motherboard. It loads up but it doesn't load up my windows. The Bios reads my ide devices correctly but it does load them up. What happens is that it get to the raid boot up and it goes straight to boot type choices. Such choices as Safe Mode, Command Mode, Boot Normally, Last Good Configuration, etc. And Of course i choose it to boot normally, but it doesnt boot. What happens is that it restarts and brings me back to the same prodecure. This is really driving me nuts. Can Someone help me please. Following are the configuration for my new system.

Asus P4P800 Deluxe
P4 3.4 ghz w/ 800 fsb
Kingston pc3200 DDR 400 2x512mb
Geforce 5700 256mb
Santa Cruz Turtle Beach Sound Card
Maxtor 7200 RPM w/ 8mb Cache 120 GB Hard Drive
CD-RW don't know
Thermal Take SubZero4G Heatsink
Thermal Take Xaser III Case

Should I change. add, or replace anything around to meet configuration needs

I just upgraded my system with a P4P800 Deluxe, P4 3.0 and 2/256 of Kingston HyperX DDR400.

When I ran MemTest 86, I never got through a single pass before MemTest would hang. Tried the usual swap out ram, etc. and always had this happen. I had about decided to RMA the board.

As a last resort I updated the bios from v1012 to v1015. End of problem! I just ran Memtest 86 for 10 passes without a problem.

Hope this helps someone else.

See the guy's post right below yours about flashing to the 1015 BIOS. If that doesn't work, turn off MAM (Memory Acceleration Mode) and possibly set your Performance Mode to Standard. You could also bump your memory voltage up to 2.75. What you're getting is a classic memory failure.

Run Memtest on it to see if you actually have bad RAM. I doubt that you do. But if you do get new RAM, sell me your old stuff.

Umm, just a guess here, but are you trying to boot off a harddrive that already has windows installed (i.e. your hard drive from your old mobo) If so, you cannot do this usually. You will usually have to reformat and install windows from scratch.

Sorry if this is obvious to you but from your post I couldn't tell

You're right, I forgot about that. But you can also just repair the Windows installation. Select "Repair" the second time you have the option, not the first, or you'll end up in the recovery console, which doesn't do you any good. Repairing it leaves everything intact, just redetects your hardware, etc.
