I have Corsair TWINX PC5400 with P5B (Vanilla). It works great, no prob. I'm running it 782MHz @4-4-4-12 at vdimm 2.0 stably ( > 4 hours of Orthos ).

No problems. If you installed the drivers for it then it should be working fine. If not then it's probably bad.Originally posted by: Dizzymon
I finally got my rig up and running too but one problem is the onboard ethernet nic. It won't connect to the web for the life of me. I finally ended up just installing a PCI NIC on it and it worked right away! Anyone else having the same issues with their ethernet card?
Thanks.
I'm using this video card:Originally posted by: Dizzymon

The Abit RX700 256PCIE Pro might be causing me grief with the restarts I think. My coworker sold it to me with a bad fan on the heatsink. I've replaced the fan since but I'm not sure if it's a compatibility issue or what. What video card are you running? I'm thinking of a video card under $100 from Fry's. Any recommendations?

One thing I do not like is the fact ASUS seems to believe charging for reflashing and such is the only fix and I'm not paying more money for that when it's 100% fixable if you know how. Add in the fact EVERYONE I've seen, EVERY post I've read about this problem came from someone with either sata drives, 1 x GB memory sticks (ecspecially with > then the asus supports), no floppy, or users who "ran everything fine, but upon the 7011 flash [even though it says it works] got dead screen" it had to be the bios or something the bios did.

Ok I finally got it fixed. I had downloaded the wrong INF file from INTEL. I needed the P956 Express chipset update. After doing that everything appears to be working. I'm running some benchmark tests on it to see how things go. One other problem I'm having is why does my IDE DVD/RW drives show up as SCSI?!?!??! Is it going to be a problem for me to use it in that state?
Update: I ran 3Dmark on it this build (abit RX700 256PCIE Pro) and I get 4fps! What am I doing wrong? Did I forget to set something in the BIOS for it to be this slow?!?!?!?!

This thread is huge and I have alot of reading to do. Just hoping someone can give me some info to get me started.
1. Thinking of getting the Deluxe version of this board. I don't need wifi so no sense in getting that version unless there is something else I have overlooked.
2. I see some issues with the onboard sound. I do have an Audigy (I think it's the original, not Audigy 2) I can use with it. Is there a fix to the sound issues or is the regular Audigy better than the onboard sound anyways?
3. Wasn't there a P5B e Plus that was coming out but not definately in the US? Is that or is anything else coming soon that I should hold off? I know there's always something around the corner but I am thinking of buying within a months time (if I can hold off that long).
4. how is this board for overclocking on a scale of 1 - 10? 1 being horrible, 10 being excellent? BTW I am leaning towards the 6400 dual core chip.
5. I also need video card, RAM (2GB), power supply for this build. I already have case/SATA hard drives, DVD burner/Etc. Still doing research on these components but would like to hear suggestions if you can offer them?
I don't play alot of game sbut would like it powerful enough that I do have the option to play some recent games. I do a moderate amount of video editing.
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for all the info cmdrdredd.
I had my eye on the 7900GTO @newegg but I didn't act fast enough. If they come back in stock I may go ahead and buy everything.
I have heard of teamgroup and will take a look at tankguys.com. Memory is pretty high priced all around now but I can't wait forever for it to drop.
I know it may be a hard question to answer but about how much better (gaming, video editing) will a E6400/pb5 deluxe/2GB RAM and a 7900gto (or equivalnet) be compared to a pentium 3.2e/3GB RAM and XFX 6800GT???

Wow! great. Thank you very much. Thats a big help already.
What CPU do you use? You dont overclock a E6600 (2.4Ghz) to 3.6ghz, do you? Or do I get something wrong, because my multiplyer is 9, with your external frequencey of 400 that would make 3.6 ghz... oder did you lower the multiplyer to 8? I never touched the multiplyer so far.
Why don't you push the ram higher? Did you experience problems?
At the moment I have set the external clock to 337Hz and have the e6600 running stable at 3.03ghz. Ram is on 889Mhz, voltages on auto.
What is your PCmark 05 CPU score? Mine is 7784, and the memory is 6552
Oops - I should have put all that into a signature (added).Originally posted by: analographi

My plan has always been for an easy 24/7 overclock with the RAM running a straight 1:1 ratio. Testing higher speeds/lower latencies hasn't yet been a priority as I've only had the system running for a couple of weeks. Anyway, I derived my various settings from all the accumulated settings I've seen posted on various forums.
I don't know about yours but my copy of PCMark05 includes 16 tests only a few of which appear to be tied to CPU speed alone (video encoding KB/s, for instance). Generally, the tests appear to be composite in nature with scores looking nothing like the figures you quoted above so I'm unsure how to answer your question about that.
