(Two Samsung SP2004C in RAID 0 on a nForce 4 SLi)

and a friend of mine with the faster SP2050C on a ICH8R:

(Don't just look at the graph, look at the numbers)

That's right, my scores are better, but that's not my point.

I have a nForce 4 SLi based system and get better scores then a friend with a P5B Deluxe based system. Next to that, if you benchmarks both types of HDD's (the 200 and 250 version), you will see that the 250 is visible faster then the 200.

But my RAID with two slow HDD's is faster then his RAID with two fast HDD's, so it seems that there is something wrong with the RAID controller in the ICH8R

That performance looks almost identical to yours: http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/3796/raid0wi2.jpg

Eventhough your performance drop at 25% is a bit bigger, it is also on my drives, wonder why its there
Anyways, i had some problems setting my IDE drives up also, i have 1 300 GB IDE drive for windows and 2x250 SP2504C for RAID0, and in BIOS i have to set IDE configuration to "enhanced" and "Raid" and the Jmicron to "IDE".
The thing thats weird is that my IDE drive shows up as SCSI and SMART doesnt work on any of my drives.

Can anyone confirm this?

turn of Subwoofer in DTS options, should fix the distorted sound. May need to turn off DTS NEO and DTS Interactive as well.

DTS and 3d sound is currently broken. See this thread

Thanks rommel, works great now. If only there was a good working driver then it would be perfect.

I dont recommend 9500 for cooling cpu maybe for looks. You be alot better off with the thermalright ultra-120 or tuniq tower, scythe ninja, noctua nh-u12 or the big typhoon they do a better job.

Ya, unfortunately I bought the 9500 before I found out about the other fans so it's too late to change. Anyways, I'm pretty sure the 9500 will fit so I went ahead and ordered the p5b-e

hello, can somebody clarify if the info i gathered is correct?

PB5-E: 2.1vdimm, rev 1.01g or rev 1.02g (some more voltage options), C2 stepping

PB5-E Plus: 2.45 vdimm, rev. 1.02g or even 1.03g?, C2, available only in EU&Asia

PB5 Deluxe = 2.4vdimm, 1.02g, can come with C1 or C2

dunno if that is correct, tell me if ya know, thx.

Go download the ASUS PC Probe II V1.03.05 for the P5B motherboard. Make sure you download the correct file. I don't know if they make a difference but I can tell you I had one hell of a problem with my video card and it's probably because I downloaded the wrong version! Good luck.

I have the 9500 myself - the quality, design and materials were tough to beat for the price (though the price at Newegg has jumped 30% in the last two weeks). It looks flippin' awesome. Unfortunately, I can't argue against the conventional wisdom that a tower designed for 120mm fans - possibly with two fans in a push/pull configuration - provides better cooling with less noise. Not that the 9500 isn't good (and reasonably quiet) - just that there are better performing CPU coolers.

I've lusted after an all-copper Zalman cooler for many years and liked the idea of a 9500-AT / VF900-CU cooler combination in my new rig. At purchase, I couldn't get pumped up about spending more money for an industrial-looking, aluminum-finned tower. In hindsight, seeing my CPU load temps in the mid-50's makes me question that form over function decision almost daily. With the 9500 now priced at $63 (Newegg), something like a Tuniq Tower or Scythe Ninja would be even easier to buy today.

yes i cant knock the 9500 its quality and effective but those who want that bit extra the others have the edge.

i just got a titan amanda tec cooler and its actually alot lighter than it looks. easy to fit and it comes with weight reducing straps to take off the weight exertion to the motherboard. its great to see the temp rise only alittle and stick as i keep raising the cpu volts. very quiet too. its effective!

Popping and cracking, same symptoms i had on my x-fi. What the hay!

I'm using the onboard sound on my p5b deluxe, and still get popping and cracking and im only at 2.67 Ghz!!

What are you P5B overclockers doing to hit higher speed, and how do you NOT have the popping? I also noticed that in some games with voice chat, other users voices are broken up - and its not latency or anything else, its the sound card (i can reproduce it easily)

SO..what are you P5B guys doing about sound? i already ditched my x-fi in hopes of higher OC's, but i can't deal with this popping, never on any other system where i've oc'ed have I had this issue....

Hi,

I have a problem with the onboard audio when using SPDIF optical pass thru. When I used PowerDVD 7 Trial and changed the audio to SPDIF pass thru, XP Pro SP2 crashed and rebooted.

Is my motherboard's onboard audio hardware bad or I need a new audio driver?
I have heard about the audio driver problem. Is there a new audio driver?

Thanks.

Does anyone know that the popping/cracking of soundcard problem exist on digital output?

tempoct,

I haven't experienced the popping/cracking on digital out.

I used audio driver 5.10.1.4570 and I was able to get SPDIF pass thru but my receiver detected the multi-channel audio as Dolby Digital 3/2.1 instead of 5.1. Does anyone else experienced that? I will research this issue a little more tonight.

Today i got my Asus P5B Deluxe board. Installed E6600, BFG 7600 GPU and Corsair 2GB 6400C4 memory. It won't boot. I am getting the Blue LED on the motherboard and when i power it up it does turn to Red/Pink but nothing happens. My Monitor stays in the power save mode and i don't hear any beeps. Can someone help? Please?

Thanks

PS: I have a 400W PSU with only a 20 pin connector. Do i need to change that?

Thanks

Hi,
I believe you need 24pin. What brand/model of PSU? I believe 400W is enough though (if it's real 400W).
Here's the PSU calculator for idea;
