Flashing to the latest BIOS doesn't necessarily mean you're getting the "Best". BIOS revisions are meant to address specific hardware issues - it if doesn't apply to you, then it may not benefit you. In some cases (maybe most), it may hinder you! I've read that some people had to increase their Vcore after 0804. That can't be good

It is a new PC.What the problem I dont have no imagine on the monitor when I turn on the computer.The fan on the CPU.VIDEO CARD WORK.I hear that the hard drive work.I check the memory and I install the video card on another slot no results.

Is it possible for you to try using a different video card?

you made a thread about this issue and i gave u a link to a very active thread where this issue is being discussed because it is a very common feature of this asus board which is why i quickly RMA'd mine and got the heck out of asus p5b land while i was in my return period. there are ways you should be able to get this board to boot up which involve clearing the cmos leavin the mobo with no power for at least an hour and starting with one stick of ram.

i feel bad for people who have this board for 3 months and this happens. if i were you i would count your blessings it happened this early and get another type of board.

I read all over the internet that asus p5b deluxe is a excelent MB.Now I wander if the MB is compatible with BFG ge force 7600 GT VIDEO CARD.

I have seen NONE issues with VGAs compatibility problems.
Most issues were about memories.
It is a very good MB!
I have one, with 0 problems so far.

It really depends on what are your intentions with it.
If it is OC, you might want some memory with Micron D9 chips.
Which is now a tough job to do.
I haven't followed this memory market anymore since I bought mine.
But if you are going to use stock. You are fine with Corsair, OCZ, Crucial, etc.

Hello, has anyone been able to get a secondary graphic card working in the other pci-e x16 slot (that only works in < x4 mode)? I have tried two cards. First one was geforce 6200 and windows found it, but since my primary graphic card is ati x1950 pro, the drivers seemed to conflict. Second one that I have been trying is ati x300, but it doesn't even get recognized by windows. It works perfectly if in the blue x16 spot. Black is the one causing the trouble. Any solutions?

I am not interested in Crossfire, just want to get three monitors working under Vista. The secondary card should be Ati as well, since Vista requires the graphic cards to use the same drivers.

I realize you said you were not interested in Corssfire, but, I tried the same thing. And finally ended up with a X1900 Crossfire edition in top, and a X1900XTX in bottom, no Issues. OBVIOUSLY. Using dongle that is.
But, Possibly, if you tried two of the same series Cards, no confilcts. ????
I don't know, But, If you can get your hands on another X1900 series card, give it a go.

robl: Thank you for your advice. I will try to get another x1950pro to test, but this would be quite expensive setup just to get another display. Someon reported back to me that he is able to run x1900 and x300 in Asrock motherboard. I'm still hoping for someone coming up with a cheaper solution like that - any takers?

Just got a P5B with C2d 4300 with 2 1 GB DDR2-667 sticks of RAM. Upon booting, I ran into CPU uCode errors and after updating to 1102, it went off and both cores @ 1.8 GHZ were detected fine. However, when I set the AI OC to manual and set cpu bus to 333 and RAM to DDR2-667, it didn't boot @ 3 GHZ. However, it did boot and pass memtest fine with the 0509 which shipped with the board. Any idea on how to make this work at > 3 GHZ speeds? I hoped for at least a 3GHZ overclock with this cpu.

I am trying to figure out which board to get, but I think i have narrowed it down to the P5B-E and the P5B Deluxe, but I am having trouble finding Memory that is compatible. It seems like some of the crucial memory is, but does anyone know if this memory is??

Patriot eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

If not, could you show me some in the $200 range that is compatible?? I believe this will work, but want to run it by the experts first

Hi to all,

I've looked down to this thread hoping to find an answer to my problem but without any success. So here I go.

I have a 2 computer set-up for now. I use the Linksys EG005W switch

there's one computer working perfectly using a linksys EG1032 (asus p4pe )

The other one :
asus p5b deluxe wi-fi with intel pro 1000 pci-e x1 desktop gigabit network adapter
os: win xp64 sp1

I get alternative messages at the bottom of my screen :
1. a network cable is unplugged
2. local area connection is connected 1.0 gbps

Everything is fine with the switch (Linksys EG005W) when I plug my p5b all alone. The same occurs if I open my P4Pe alone.Unfortunately when I open my p4pe and my p5b those messages below right appear again on the 2 computers

Hoping someone could help me with this one. I'm pretty desperate.

I can get my RAM to run at DDR2-800 from its DDR2-667, however it seems the motherboard FSB can't be raised too high. I'm using the stock cpu hsf and the passive NB cooler that came with the P5B. Suggest the highest cpu, mem and NB voltages I can use.

I've set AI tuning to manual, CPU freq to 334 and RAM to DDR2 668. BIOS boot screen shows 3.01 GHZ as expected, but also shows dual channel DDR2-4300(533) instead of DDR2 668. In memtest, I get 4198 MB/sec for RAM speeds. I've set CAS 4, RAS-to-CAS 4, RAS precharge 4, RAS activate to prefetch 12, Write recovery of 4, TRFC of 42, TRRD 10, write to read delay 10, read to precharge delay 10, write to precharge delay 11, Static read control to auto.

Let me know, if there's a way to optimize this setup any further. I'd like higher cpu, fsb+memory settings, preferably 400 fsb with DDR2-800 RAM speed, as RAM can run at 800 with 5-5-5-12 comfortably, so motherboard NB and cpu only could need some tweaking of voltages. How high can I raise the CPU+NB voltages on air with default hsf?

Hi everyone.

I just ordered the P5B Deluxe today. I have heard that the stock bios of this board does not support the Core 2 Duo E6600. Is this going to be an issue if I ordered this processor, because I dont have another CPU to flash the bios with. I also got the Kingston DDR2 800 RAM.

I have also heard about some issues with using the IDE port for my CD drives. ANy input on this issue?

Any suggestions that you have to help with the install are greatly appreciated! I am going to read through this thread tonight.

noobie question here.. if the FSB is 400, and the ratio is 1:1, then why is the ram set to 800? is the ram speed doubling because it is dual core?

AFAIK, Intel uses Quad Pumped bus meaning 400 FSB is effectively 1600, or 800 per RAM channel, which sets RAM to DDR2-800 IMO.
