I just ordered my P5Q Deluxe from Mwave.

Mwave seems to have it in stock and a lower price - $199. Mwave also have the plain ASUS P5Q in stock for $133.

Just had a notice from Ebuyer. delays on my shipment. What luck. Any of you guys in the states are so lucky, getting these well cheap. I forked out £145 (just under $300 US) for one of these and how nice of them to have delivery issues. Ah well my new rig still ready and waiting for the mobo to arrive.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

Just out of interest, can anyone recommend a good cooler. I got the freezer 7 pro after reading reviews but this cooler is EXTREMELY difficult to insert and for it to stay that way. I mean the stock cooler I got with the CPU which was a breeze to install. It took seconds. The freezer oh my god. I was fighting with it for a good 15-20 mins. I think I broke or damaged one of the pins whilst trying to get it attached to my previous Abit board, so I ordered a new one. However if anyone has either used a good cooler or can recommend one. I have ordered the freezer to try again simply as its so well recommended and frankly cheap (£12) but if anyone can recommend something else. Price is not an issue (no water cooling , not interested). Thanks.

I'm very interested in this board as well. As as I can verify that it will fit a TRUE 120 vertically (fan exhausting air out the back of the case), I think I'm going to pull the trigger. If anyone has any info on this board and the TRUE, please post it.

edit: To DokmanD: the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 is an awesome cooler if it fits on this board, but it's not cheap.

I ordered a plain P5Q so we'll see how it turns out. (P5Q has no crossfire capability but its about $75 cheaper than deluxe.)

The Pro is not that much more than the vanilla, and it has 2x PCIe x16. The main thing I dislike about the vanilla is the atrocious ATX power connector placement...

Check HardOCP's recent P5Q3 Deluxe review, should be on their front page - I remember Kyle mentioning something about the Raptors too, but don't recall exactly what the problem was.

How sure about that are you?

The Asus documentation very clearly says that the P5Q Deluxe supports 2 slots at X16.

got it all setup! no issues of any kind so far! expressgate is pretty decent actually ill have to admit. its handy for downloading a driver or just using the internet quickly without loading xp.

i hate how this board needs the 4+4 pin 12x cables, instead of only one 4 pin. oh well. also the 3 pin fan connectors are awkwardly placed. i have 2 exhaust fans and there is only 1 header available on that side...ugh, luckily i have an extender for it.

my seagate 300GB 7200.7 sata and ide dvd-rw works just fine. i needed to set "configure sata as IDE" for xp sp3 to detect my sata hd though (but its always like that).

anything else you guys want me to try/see for you?

yeah, usually there is the 24pin connector, then another 4 pin you have to plug in usually in the top left of the mobo. for the p5q, you have to plug in two 4 pins, or else the board "apparently" wont work.

ahhh! gotcha...makes sense now.

btw, up to 3.4Ghz stable. plays ut3, cod4, crysis completely stable for hours. vcore is still at 1.30. this is basically effortless overclocking, and i still havent touched any memory settings apart from the timings.

this board rocks too.

So I heard a lot of problems with boards from Asus X38 chipsets . So why do you guys like new board so much? I thought the X38/X48 are suppose to be better than these P35 / P45 boards?

http://hothardware.com/Article...P45_Chipset_with_DDR2/

The Asus P5Q Deulxe has three physical PCI Express x16 slots, dual PCIe x1 slots, and a pair of PCI slots. And as we've mentioned the PCI Express lanes to the PEG slots is flexible - unlike the P35 - so they can be setup in either a x16 / x1 or x8 / x8 configuration depending on how many graphics cards are installed.

It does say it supports 2 slots for pci-e but if you do use a dual gpu they will run at 8x8x and not 16x16x speed this is reserved for the x38/x48 chipsets only and not the p series.

I just recieved mine so looking through the reviews and the manual. I hope my memory works with it.

So this board supporst both DDR2 and DDR3 ? Maybe i'll pick this one up if it is. If so, what are the speed that it supports for DDR3? Only 1333mhz? or can it support 1600mhz DDR3?

Careful. There are two versions of the Deluxe - the P5Q that takes DDR2 and the P5Q3 that takes DDR3. The only combo DDR2/DDR3 board is the P5QC (which is sort of towards the low end of the ASUS offerings...).
