Wow. I expected the deluxe to be around $250 with their wifi models. This pleases me...

was thinking of gettting one of these myself. not sure if I should et this one or the DDR3 version. also heard that the x38/48 still have an edge over the p45 if I read correctly. how true is this.
Also not sure if you can get another mobo that performs as well for the price. I do not want to spend more than right around $200 for a mobo; might also wait for prices to drop a little bit first too.

the main upgrade over a p35 chipset is the ability to run crossfire x8/x8 and it utilizes pcie 2.0 spec. the x38/x48 boards allow x16/x16 crossfire. another advantage over the p35 (and the x38/45) is the 65nm fabrication process which will consume less energy and give off less heat.

Hmm, this is very impressive.

Boards layout appeals to me a lot. Actually, it's damn near perfect.
Has everything i could possible want.

Now the real question...what's max user defined tRFC?!

So there is no point to change if I am using P35 board if I dont use crossfire.

Just ordered mine too, but my mate tells me there are compatability issues with memory. Can anyone confirm this???

I plan on using Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 DHX Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL4(4-4-4-12).

If you want to be sure check the p45 manual pages 2 13-16 for "officially" compatible ram. I checked and no 800mhz 4gb kits are listed for corsair (Gskill has several 800mhz 4gb kits listed though). Doesn't automatically mean it won't work but its not listed anyway.

Oh dear. Well I guess Ill find out when it arrives tomorrow. Do you think it would run with just one DIMM??? I was in the process of building a new rig:

Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 DHX Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL4(4-4-4-12)
Corsair HX 620W Modular PSU - ATX12V v2.2 APFC
Sony DRU-190S 20X DVD±RW DL & DVD-RAM Serial ATA
Maxtor 500GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm
Microsoft Windows XP Professional w/SP2c
Lian Li PC-7B PLUS II Aluminium Black
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz
Sapphire ATI 3450 512mb (will replace with 512MB XFX 9800GTX, Black Edition, PCI-E 2.0x16, Mem 2280MHz, GDDR3, GPU 760 MHz, when its released and I get some more cash)

Ah well I guess Ill find out tomorrow. Ill post as soon as its installed.
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

and coupled it up with a ABIT IP35-E but it was faulty and an alarm kept going off. I sent it back and ordered this instead hoping ASUS would be more reliable.

Best of luck with your build DokmanD. I have the same box and PS so I'll be interested in reading your experience.
Note to Nightblade: Thanks, problem is on my end.

There's a thread at XS in which one guy there has 8 GB (2x2 GB G.Skill + 2x2 GB Mushkin running stably @ DDR2-1066 , so i wouldn't be too worried

As soon as i can find somewhere in Canada with this in stock, i'm likely going to be picking this mobo up.

yep! i just read that thread...bookmarked it too as the guy at the top of page 7 or 8 had a full list of what BIOS settings he had with his 8GB of ram. luckily the g.skill 2x2GB set he had is exactly what im going to use, so luckily im good with my memory compatibility. although i dont know exactly what bios he was using and what bios the p5q deluxe comes with...

i will post my impressions/results tomorrow night!
