Man your vcore is already dangerously high IMO!:Q ,if I were you I'd drop it down. Even with low temps you'll be significantly shortening your CPUs life.
Btw the 40C temp, is that idle on air or loaded with water cooling?

To answer your question though, MCH=NBv
FSB term, voltage might help your o/c, although I think that's more for quads.
I don't know how much difference the rest make, I've not touched them except to put some on the 2nd lowest manual setting (sets lowest voltage possible, bizarrely).

Air cooled with Scythe Mugen, have replaced the fan with a Noctua NF-P12 1300.

The vcore were higher on my old board and my cpu isn't stable with less voltage around 3.5Ghz. =/
But the cpu has outlived one board so far.

, well I hope you don't plan on keeping it long & buyer beware! :Q

Btw idle temps are meaningless, what's your load temps with something like Prime95?

What cpu's that with?

Got my Q6600 @3.34 GHz, 417 MHz FSB (dropped multi to x8), need to lap my cooler to drop temps & then I might be able to go higher safely.

Do you think that the additional 4 gigs of ram makes a difference?

I wish to be able to use those voltages values, I tried 1.32, 1.35, 1.38, 1.42, up to 1.50 and I wasn't able to stabilize my overclocking, I tried in auto and now magically is stable, it gives 1.41 to 1.42V at the core and idles at 45C and goes to 74C in full load using a Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm with Prime95 SmallFFT up to 12hours, bear in mind that were I live, the typical room temperature is between 80F to 92F,

Ekk high ambient temps! :Q

Btw when you were doing manual voltage changes did you only try changing the vcore?
Inccidently you ought to know that auto voltages (not so much vcore) heavily & unnecessarily over-volts the other CPU voltages & chipset voltages.

I left everything in auto except the RAM which I set to 2.0V, everythingelse including the CPU VCore was on auto, unfortunately I was unable to stabilize my overclocking with manual Vcore adjustments. The heatsink of the Northbridge is cool to the touch.

Hmm, well naturally it is a lot easier using auto, but auto heavily over volts the chipset & CPU voltages (excluding vcore maybe).
I was going to post a link for you to my thread about it, but I see you posted in there anyway so you should already know .

That doesn't make sense that you couldn't get it stable on manual vcore , wierd......

which is better I presently have this Ram running Vista 64

OCZ Platinum Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit

but I'm thinking of either 6 GB or 8 GB. Newegg has it as discontinued.

Would I be better off with selling these and buying 6 or 8 GB of PC2 6400 or leaving the current 4 GB.

I don't see how this is related to the P5Q , afraid I don't know the answer to your question anyway.
Depends how much spare RAM you have during use.

Latest bios for the Pro version is 1613 & was released 12/12/08.

P5Q PRO BIOS 1613
Fixed if plug 8G memory and set "Memory Remap" as disable in BIOS, it cannot enter 64bit OS.

Anyone get 2 ATI cards to work properly in xFire in this board? I am having xFire issues and am wondering if it could be related to this on page 2-21 of this mobo manual...

"If on eof the PCIe x1 slots is occupied, the universal PCI Express x16 slot (black) will downgrade to max. x1 speed."

I've got an X-Fi card in the top x1 slot.

Thanks,

EK2K

@Assimilator1...my son goes from liking peas and/or carrots on any given day, kind of a personal thing.

WorldPeas could be accomplished if everyone was a farmer!

Hello everybody.I have a problem overclocking my cpu q9650.Before summer i used to run q9650 at 4.0ghz(450 fsb)for 24/7 and it was 100% stable. But because the summer was hot i installed asus epu so as not to stress my system and keep it cool. Now where the days are colder i tried to overclock it again at my old settings. And it cannot even boot!I tried many settings and from other friends that have the same system. But again it freezes. When i run it at 450fsb i had 2001 bios. Now i have 2201.I installed 2001 again but the problem remained.I tried the cpu in another system and it run stably at 450fsb!I did format and i installed again windows but nothing at all.Motherboard cannot pass 425 fsb!Even with a lower multiplier and high voltages! What is the problem? Can you help me please?

I'm still using the original BIOS. Is it safe to use the latest version or should I just stick with the one I have now? What's the safest way to upgrade? I'm going to upgrade to Windows 7 this weekend and use AHCI for the HDDs so I want to use the occasion to update my system drivers.

Hi,

I am currently running 4 x1 gig (2 matched pairs) of Corsair Dominator DDR2 8500 1066 in my P5Q Deluxe board. It will only boot if the sticks are matched properly, no problems , so ok , Running Windows 7 X 64.

I want to install 6 gig 3 x2 gig of Corsair Dominator 8500 1066 DDR2, one matched pair and one single 2 gig stick. Will this work if my motherboard settings are AUTO? Reading stuff here and in other places it seems you have to set the freq to 800mhz to run 8 Gig ?

Can anyone advise please, I am no expert on this type of stuff but can change BIOS settings etc.

Thanks in advance
