its not a hard freeze causing a reboot.

I just installed 1305 same problem in original bios

i first noticed it as i was looking around the bios prior to my windows instal. as i would scroll through the monitoring items it would frezee for a few seconds only in that sub menue of the bios.

taught it was odd but when ahead with the install. no problems till i desided to check out the monitoring programs.

Do you get these temporary freeze-ups in windows, or just when you enter the Hardware Monitoring page of the BIOS? If it's only happening in the BIOS, it's a well-known issue, without any clear solution. Nothing to worry about. In fact, it happens to me, as well. If you're getting these freeze-ups in Windows, that's another story. Provide more details, if you can.

Hi guys

I need your help. Sorry because I don't speak very well English.

I bought this motherboard, CPU Intel 6600, Zalman 9500, Corsair DDR2 XMS 2 6400C4 Matched Memory Pair 2GB, OCZ GamerXtream Power Supply 700W.

This evening I have been trying to build my new computer....... just in my dreams. It doesn't boot. I can see the small led working, but when I tried to boot my computer, nothing happens.

I am writing now this post looking my motherboard, fan and cpu. I don't have more installed. I removed everything.

Any ideas please, because I don't know what to do in this point.

THANKS IN ADVANCED

edit: I have the latest BIOS........... I saw it now on my mobo... 1305

yes, I have them connected, the big ATX with 24v and the small 12V on top of the board.

Is easy because you can see on the power supply each connector with a name.

I tried again and nothing arrghhhh. Thanks IfReborn.

my mic wasnt working at first but then it just started. I have no clue as to what was wrong

I think your memo requires more volts for boot up, the default voltage in ddr2 is 1.8v and yours is 2.1v.

I'm trying to flash my bios to 1405 or something, and each time I try to enter EZ Flash everything freezes and I have to restart using the reset button. I've tried to use my USB HD as floppy, CD-ROM, harddrive (bios setting "USB Configuration") and then it doesn't freeze but I still can't browse the drive. I put the .ROM on every device I have but EZ Flash just recognizes the USB one. I tried using CrashFree bios thingie too, but all the program does is to continually scan different devices and reads the .ROM, that's it.

Any ideas?

Hi, just assembled my new system:

MB: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
CPU: Intel e6700
HSF: Zalman CPNS9500AT
PSU: Hiper HPU-4B580-MS (580W)
VIDEO: MSI PX1900XTX
MEM: Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 (2GB)
DISK: 2 x WD SATA2 7200 250GB
DVD: Samsung SH-S182D & Pioneer DVR-710
CASE: Lian Li PC-7B

With some help form this forum, I have everything together and from the BIOS (1201) things look ok. <I?ll update the BIOS once I install windows and the 14xx version is on the ASUS website>

All devices show up and CPU temp is 27c, MB temp is 43c after letting it sit on the BIOS screen for 20 minutes.

Before I go any further I have a few questions.

1. When I power on the systems, a second before I see any video I get a single beep. I?m not sure if this normal or not. With past systems I have gotten a similar beep if I didn?t have a KB or Mouse plugged in.

2. While my memory is PC2-6400, it shows up as PC2-5300. The timings were also off, from a earlier post I figured out how to set the timings, but wasn?t sure if I should many adjust the speed of the memory. For now I don?t plan to overclock the cpu, I want to get everything running stable before I try; so my question is should bother adjusting the speed of the memory?

3. I have both of my CD/DVD devices coming off the blue connector on the motherboard and connected the two SATA disks to the Red and the Black SATA connector next to the Southbridge chip. The two HDD show up as the third IDE Master and Third IDE Slave drives. I don?t plan to use raid and I was wondering if I would get better performance if I moved on of the drive to one of the orange SATA connectors net to the MB status light?

Thanks,

-Bruce

the orange connectors give less performance than the red ones...

ok, so forgetting about the orange EZ RAID connectors. If I just use the SATA connectors that come off the Southbridge. does it make any difference if the are both on the "Third IDE" or should I move one so I have one on the "Third IDE" and the other on the "Fourth IDE"

Thanks,

-Bruce

On the ICH7R Southbridge, SATA1 is the master, while SATA3 and SATA4 are slaves. What you're seeing in the BIOS is correct.

In your previous post you asked about the single beep, just priot to POST. This is normal, as well. Regarding your mem, the system automatically clocked your mem to be in sync with the FSB. With a stock FSB of 266, a mem speed of DDR2-533 runs without a memory divider - DDR2-533 runs at a real clock of 266MHz, with an effective clock of 533MHz dual data rate (DDR). If you were to set the mem to run at DDR2-800, that would invoke the 2:3 FSB:MEM divider. If you were to overclock to FSB 333 (3.3GHz), you could run the mem at DDR2-666 at 1:1 ratio. Likewise, at FSB 400 (4GHz) you can run the mem at DDR2-800 at 1:1 ratio. However, the board supports several memory dividers, so you are not constrained to those settings. When you adjust the FSB, the memory frequency will be automatically adjusted in proportion. However, once you have the FSB where you want it, you can independently adjust the memory speed without affecting the FSB. You will be presented with several distinct options, one for each available divider at that particular FSB.

Don't worry if this seems convoluted and confusing. It will all make a lot more sense if you spend some time fiddling in the BIOS.

Do you have the power supply properly connected? You must connect BOTH the 20+4-pin and 4-pin 12v connectors. If that is not the issue, try booting with only 1 stick of memory. If that works, go into the BIOS, to the Advanced/Jumperfree page, and set AI Overclock to manual. Now, set the memory voltage to 2.1v. Save and reboot with both sticks of mem installed.

One more thing, this problem could also be the result of having a BIOS version earlier than 0701. Check the sticker on the BIOS chip.

Thanks Phile for you answer.

Yes, I have everything plugged correctly. I removed 1 stick like you said and nothing. I change it to differents sockets and still is not working. The sticker says 1305.

I need a memory with 1.9v ???

thanks again

Check at the Corsair site to see what the rated memory voltage is for your kit. It's probably 2.0v or 2.1v. In any case, you do not need that for the memory to boot. I do not think your memory is the problem. It could be a problem with your power supply. Unfortunately, I do not have time right this moment to troubleshoot with you.

Bruce,
What program are you using to monitor temps? Most people are using CoreTemp as a standard since its supposed to be the most accurate. Although there is a debate just why the temps are so high. At stock (after a week burn in) my idle temps were 35C and load temps were 45C-47C with Orthos Prime. Everyone is getting different temps with different set ups though.

1)I get a beep right after hitting the on switch too so I think you're fine unless you notice something odd or not working out of the ordinary.

2)Thats the default settings. I heard later BIOS are supposed to fix that. Latest BIOS is 1405 as far as I know. You have to manually enter the memory in the BIOS if it doesnt automatically get it right.

3)I'm gonna let someone else answer this. I'm at work so cant remember how I hooked mine up without looking at it. ::chuckle:: Sorry.

me again

I did a bridge in my power supply green and black color and it is working.

so now, I have my motherboard, cpu, fan and power supply (not memory, graphics card, etc) and doesn't boot. I think I will be sending it back to newegg because I am not sure what is wrong with this mobo.

I got the original numbers (27c/43c) via the BIOS hardware monitor. I just finiahed installing Windows and the ASUS drivers/utilities, so I now have PC Probe II, which is reporting (25c/49c), but I still haven't put the side of my case on. I will install CoreTemp when I get a chance, I still have some drivers to install as well as cleaning up the cables to make sure they aren't blocking air flow before I close the case.
