How do I setup a MyRig signature?

Up at top of page you'll see where it says 'Profile' Click on that and you can put in your info in that box provided and then click edit or update, forget which it is, and you should see it on your posts.

Edit: Well, thats for having it in your profile anyway. Not sure how to do it for My Rig linky. Never tried it.

Right when I booted up I used Core Temp to check the cpu temp. BOOM! I now idle at 33-35C and under load it never goes over 47C".
I just do not understand how people get 30 degree drops. I got 10, at most.

I knew how to enter the text, it was setting up the link I was curious about.

Go here to enter your information.
You should also edit the link that they give you.
This is what they give me for my link
http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.html?id=33097
but you have to sign in to see that, very annoying. add "rig" before id=33097
http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.html?rigid=33097
Then you dont need to sign in to see it.

Dont trust reviews like that
I bet the guy didn't have the stock hsf installed properly.

Any info/help would be appreciated.

This doesn't sound good.
Have you tried unplugging everything except your mouse, and keyboard?

It sounds like RMA time to me...

OK, I did a system restore back to the start of things and when I am installing drivers from asus cd, a message pops up saying "usbehci.sys is missing" Any ideas. Is it related to SP2?

Edit: Does the mouse and keyboard function outside of windows? Can you get into BIOS?

I am running this board with an E6600 and Corsair XMS2TWIN2x2048-6400C4.

The BIOS is reading my memory as at rating of PC2 5300 which I need fixed since it's actual stock rating is 6400.

What do I have to do - specifically - to get this mobo to read my RAM speeds properly?

It already said 1066 FSB in the CPU section of the BIOS.

Okay guys, I have some questions that I'm sure have been asked here before, but since Anandtech doesn't have an in-thread search feature, will be asked now and forever more.

I have a P5W DH Deluxe and E6600 headed my way. I also have a 7900GTX.

Q #1: is this board "unofficially" supporting SLi, or is there no way to do that?

Q #2: If I am not planning on overclocking, what type of DDR2 should I purchase? Would 2 x 1GB sticks of Value RAM work sufficiently, or would there be a major hit in performance when talking about DDR800 and DDR1066?

That's it for now, but I am sure there is more to come.

Since this has been explained several times, you're going to get the abbreviated version. Look back through the thread for a more thorough explanation.

The mem is not being improperly detected. At 266 FSB (1066 effective) memory must also run at 266 (533 effective - dual data rate) to avoid using a memory dividier. The board has simply clocked your mem to in sync with the FSB. If you raise the mem to 400 (DDR2-800) the 2:3 FSB:MEM divider will be used.

To change the mem frequency in BIOS:

Advanced/Jumperfree
- set AI Overclock to Manual
- set DRAM Freq. to DDR2-800
- set VDIMM to rated voltage for your mem. It's probable 2.0v or 2.1v for your kit.

To set memory timings in BIOS:

Advanced/Chipset
-set SPD Timings to disabled
- set the first 4 values accordingly (not the names of each value as the BIOS order may not match the order listed by the manufacturer)

1) There's no ifficial or unofficial support for SLI, but I think there exists a hacked driver.

2) This board officially supports DDR2-533/DDR2-667/DDR2-800. Faster memory should work, but I've seen people have some problems. If you're not planning to o/c, all you need is a good kit of DDR2-533 - PC2-4200. I would strongly recommend you do at least modestly overclock, since you're buying such overclock-friendly gear. In that case, go with a good kit of DDR2-667 or DDR2-800 - PC2-5300 or PC2-6400, respectively.

Good value RAM, as opposed to generic, will be fine, but may have higher latencies.

Would that use the memory divider if I did it that way?

If so, isn't it better to instead raise my FSB to the right number to sync with my RAM at the stock speed?

Sorry for asking the same question as others but I've read many pages of this thread before posting and in those I didn't see an answer that explains this to me; kinda hard to find info in a 36 page long thread.

Just checked the Corsair site and it gives me 3 different sets of values - which one do I use?

Which values to use?

Yes, if you run the mem at the rated 800 the mobo will use the 2:3 FSB:MEM divider. Just so you know, this is NOT a bad thing. It's functionality supported by higher-end boards, like the P5WDH. Some cheap boards have no support for memory dividers, thus limiting one's options.

that being said, configure your BIOS as follows:

- memory speed: DDR2-800
- memory voltage: 2.1v
- memory timings: 4-4-4-12 (the first 4 values in the BIOS - leave the other memory settings as is)

If you wanted to run your mem at 800 without a divider, it would require overclocking the FSB from 266 to 400 (3.6GHz). If you don't know what you're doing, you should not attempt such an overclock. You need to start slow and do your homework.

Navaros,
It looks like you are using same RAM as me. Our main difference is the processors. Assuming you got a good hsf to cool things and ready to overclock... Go to the BIOS setup. Go to Advance. Go To JumperFree Configuration. Set AI Overclocking to Manual. Below that set CPU Frequency(This is the fsb setting) to 333. Below that Set DRAM Frequency (this is memeory speed) to DDR2-666MHz. Go down to Memory Voltage and set it to 2.1v. Leave everything else on this page to the default which is Auto I believe. Hit Escape button and go back to Advance front page. Go down to Chipset and hit return to enter it. This is where you set your RAM timing. Enter the 4 numerical timing for your RAM 4-4-4-12. There is a fith one that on mine says 4 Clocks and your should too. Leave it alone. You just entered the correct timing for your RAM. Go down to Hyper Path 3 and set it disabled. Save and Exit. Good idea to write down what it was you changed and what changes you made. Its what I did. Taking notes helps remember what you did in case you want to undo them. Now let the system boot up

Congradulations! You just overclocked your rig by 25% or in your case 2.99GHz(call it 3GHz) because you are using a E6600. So far you have a safe 25% overclock and havent increased any voltage or anything. All you did was raise you fsb from 266 (default) to 333fsb and set your RAM timings to their proper timings and voltage. At this point stress test with Orthos and run Prime and whatever else you want to throw at it for testing.

More overclocking will require increasing vcore voltage along with incremental changes to fsb, RAM, and such. This is where it gets harder because you have to find the right balance. I'll leave this part of the explanation to the experts since I have not yet gone there myself.

I installed my new machine a few days ago, and have set up most of my software. However I relaised I had not installed ahci drivers (my Sata raptor 150gb and sata2 Seagate 7200.10 were in ide enhanced mode).

I found a link where there were some instructions for installing the ahci drivers after installation of windows, and i now have the drives set to ahci in the bios and i can se ich7 Ultra ATA & SATA AHCI controllers in device manager. However the sata controller and the drives themselves in device manager dont give me the option anywhere to turn on NCQ.

I have the sinking feeling that i screwed up big time and that I won't get the full performance benefit of my drives without a reinstall.

Can anyone tell me what the impact of this situation is? Is it worth a reinstall and re-doing hours of setup....?

I may be mistaken, but isn't NCQ automatically enabled for drives that support it, when running in either AHCI or RAID modes?

Is this the tutorial that you used?
