I am putting a new computer together using this motherboard. Are there any issues with anything I'm using such as PATA optical drives?
ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775
SILVERSTONE ST85ZF ATX12V/ EPS12V 850W Power Supply
ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4
Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Platinum 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card
a X1950XTX video card (haven't decided which)
a new optical drive and perhaps a high density one like blu-ray(probably these will be PATA?)
Thanks in advance,

Once they put out a version that doesn't give me a CMOS checksum error, it'll be good to me.Originally posted by: phile

Well, no such animal ever happens flashing to 1305, beyond a need to save the parameters again. I rebooted 1503 at least 3 times, loading my OC parameters, checking them carefully, then doing a F10 to save them again. Only when I agreed to do a F2 to continue booting with defaults did I get Windows to come up under 1503.Originally posted by: phile
A CMOS checksum error will occur first boot after any BIOS flash.

Can anybody help me out with a couple problems I have with this board?
First off, my spec with this MB:
Antec P180 Case
Intel E6600
Corsair Twin2X2048-PC2-8500C5
Thermaltake CL-P0114 Big Typhoon CPU Cooler
WD Raptor 150GB HDD
Samsung SP2504C HDD
NEC ND-3550A DVD-R/W
Sapphire Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
Seasonic S12 600W
Jing Ting JTS0006 chipset cooler for SB
Thermaltak CL-C0034 chipset cooler for NB
I have it OC at 333FSB @ 3GHz using the 1407 BIOS.
I don?t keep my PC on all day/night. Because it?s giving off a lot of heat, I only turn it on when I need to use it. That means it?s off when I?m sleeping or when I?m at work, so when I turn it on for the first after I get back from work, these problems usually occur:
1. The MB is having a hell of time recognizing the WD Raptor HDD consistantly (which I have Windows installed on). Sometime it would spend 2-3 minutes looking for the drive before it crap out and say it can?t find it. I then have to do a hard reboot and hoping it would find the drive ? sometime I have to do this 4-5 times before it would finally recognize the Raptor and boot up Windows. This happened with or without overclocking. Very annoying.
2. When it does get into Windows finally, it would sometime freeze after a few minutes of used and have to do a reboot. However, after this reboot, the system would be rock solid. Passed all tests running Prime95 and SuperPi simultaneously for several hours.
I know the second problems might have to do with overclocking, and I can live without overclocking if it can go away, but the first problem of not recognizing the HDD is driving me nuts. Any ideas?
USB. And the point is, after each REBOOT I got a CMOS checksum error, not just each reflash. Like no matter how I saved things, 1503 didn't like them.Originally posted by: phile
I don't know exactly what causes all these problems you;re having, but it makes perfect sense that the checksum be different after flashing to a new BIOS version. How are you flashing the BIOS. I use afudos and a floppy.
