AHAH!
What do you mean WDC 6GB/s drive? Which exact drive?
There is no WDC drive that will saturate a SATA 3 bus
Try all drives on the SATA 2 ports
And once again - what driver shows in dev nanager AHCI controller driver tab?

Its a western digital caviar black wd1002faex sata 6gbs.
the intel desktop/workstation/server express chipset sata ahci controller has this listed as its driver version 10.0.0.1046.

Ill go ahead and plug it all into the sata 2 ports and see what that does, and I really appreciate the help.

Is it important to unplug the PSU first when clearing the RTC?

Well, if the battery is still in and the PSU is putting out pre boot tickle voltage all the time, then wouldnt that make sense?
In fact tho, this now gets more complicated.
The higher level ASUS P67 boards have a stupid momentary spring loaded cmos reset button. Some of the boards still have jumpers.
I have always used a 10 minute pins shorted PSU unplugged cmos reset, and over time I have found out this works best, especially now that PSU have a trickle voltage in PC offstate so it boots quicker EVEN WITH THE ROCKER ON "OFF"!
Saw that in a jonnyguru PSU review

I do a LOT of cmos resetting because I do a lot of testing, I am not a person who just builds a system and forgets it from then on. But with the deluxe, there ARE no pins. I even took apart the reset button to see if I could rig something - but you cant - there are no trad pins.
So now I'll have to shutdown, hit reset button, turn PSU rocker to off, unplug PSU (no trickle voltage) and then take out the battery.
Sheesh.

HOWEVER!!!
Having said all that, there is another new factor involved
All the ASUS reviews call the new 32MB bios chips as FLASH
All prev bios chips I know of are eeprom
They do not erase the same
These new flash bios may only NEED a few seconds!
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_difference_between_flash_memory_and_EEPROM

But this is one of those technical things i know I will never get an answer to - heh

The latest are 10.1.1008, essential for SSD and EFI big drives, and they can be a bitch to get in if you have older vers
Win 7 doesnt like to give up working late signed drivers
You might have to try the update in safe mode
The drivers come as X86 or X64 floppy (USB) for fresh install
Then the cd.exe to install everything fully after install

if you have trouble updating, I will tell you how to do it

Whats the AI suite? Is that usable right from windows?

Yes. AI Suite II is the "Windows Interface" that allows you to overclock from windows, adjust voltages etc. The only thing I really use it for is Fan Xpert to set up a profile for my fans as Q-fan seems to have two speeds, 60% and 100%. You can set AI Suite to load as many or as few tools as you wish, Currently I only have Fan XPert and the monitors starting with it.

AI Suite II was included with the disk to the motherboard. Gary's link offered a new install package, which just installed updates to my current AI suite II.

There is no WDC drive that will saturate a SATA 3 bus
3Gb/sec equals roughly 300MB/sec, and your WDC is not doing anything over 150MB/sec
Try all drives on the SATA 2 ports
And once again - what driver shows in dev nanager AHCI controller driver tab?

Ok well I finally got home and was able to try a few things out and while I have yet to figure out how to install that new Intel AHCI driver I did move the sata cables all to the intel sata 2 ports and that worked it will now allow me to boot into windows with both hdd's installed. I'm not sure I would consider the problem solved but it is back up and working and I thank you so much for your time and expertise.

And just to be sure it wasn't the asus suite update i just plugged it back into the sata 3 port and like clockwork it will not boot into windows with the boot drive as sata2 and the spindle drive as sata3.

Nope, clearly not a solution, but maybe a pointer at the issue.

Well, the next obvious thing to try is the SSD on SATA 6.0 Intel and the WDC FEAX and burner on the SATA 3.0 Intel, then both drives on SATA 6.0
The ultimate test would be a non SSD drive on SATA 6.0 with boot O/S and the FEAX no O/S on SATA 3

Um, hope you dont have any jumper on the WDC?

Edit:
You just download the 11.5MB Intel AHCI driver package here
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...apid+Storage+Technology+(Intel®+RST)&lang=eng

reboot into safe mode and run the cd.exe, reboot and recheck your driver tab

That did not work for me, but my issue is slightly different.
For now, I just enabled hot plug in the SATA Configuration in the BIOS, and plugged in the HDD after windows booted. Unfortunately I have to do this every time I reboot, but at least I can get to my HDD if I have to.

Hey guys, what a bout a BIOS update for the Asus P8P67 LE? Will the "standard" BIOS work for this board or is there another one somewhere?

hy guys,

i tried the bios 414 (with pll override found on hwbot) for P8P67-M PRO

the bios is still bugged as the voltage regulation "loadline calibration" is uneffective.
the vcore in the OS is crazy with about 0.15V more than in the bios

the high ratios seem to be also quitte bugged, the behaviour seems similar to that reported for P8P67 ATX previous bioses

I hope that a new bios will be released soon
(don't forget the µATX boards)

thanks

yeah, keep telling people, they just mostly bypass what I post
funny part is I got the need for latest drivers from anand in one of his SSD reviews

This is a new chipset, new mobo, new type of bios, 3 dif SATA controllers, plus 4 dif bios avail
Gotta line up all your ducks in a row.
And dont forget Win 7 SP1 integrated on install disc during fresh install - not after.

And then theres the trim issue - is it enabled and is it working?
http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86403
But thats a bit OT.

I installed this and it made a major difference on my SSD. Things were sometimes jerky like wait states, but after installing that driver, everything was totally smooth and snappy.

Yes the difference this driver made is very impressive I am very very glad i was directed to this website. And also a question for bankster55 you mentioned that these ssd's should be running with an offset of 2048k instead of 1024k is there any way to change this to the correct setting? And again thank you so much for your time, my machine is already running so much better the difference that driver made is just really impressive.

Hi Gary. Will there be BIOS updates for us P67-M Pro users? The one I have now is 0405 and it's very lacking in overclocking features. I mean there is no manual voltage option, just a +/- thingy now. Also LLC is only Enabled/Disabled. None of the Ultra settings I see in the other P67 boards. Basically I don't have the Digi+ screen. Or is my board supposed to lack these features?

Hi rUmX,
The P67-M series is largely different from the P8P67 series, so the BIOS updates needed for P8P67 series aren't necessarily needed for the P8P67-M series. The P67-M series does not have manual mode for vCore but instead uses offset mode. Also, the P67-M series does not have the DIGI+ VRM so you won't see any Digi+ options. There should be a new build coming out for P8P67-M PRO sometime this week or early next week. I'll be sure to post here once I have any more info or new builds.

Is it finally possible to disable Bluetooth with the new BIOS?

Hi Stosh,
You cannot disable Bluetooth in BIOS. You have to disable it via Device Manager. I'm not 100% sure but since it's a USB Bluetooth implementation, I don't think it's possible for us to add a disable switch in BIOS.

Hey Gary, if you happen to check in on this thread I have a question regarding the memory on the qualified vendor list. I am reading other places that the memory controller for Sandy Bridge chipset is rated for 1.5V. I see many...even most...of the memory modules on the approved vendor list for the P8P67 Pro are rated 1.65 V. If SB really does want 1.5V as people are saying, then why is this?

Hi ahurtt,
Sandy Bridge memory controller is validated per speed and not really voltage. We've validated memory from 1.25v kits to 1.65v kits.

I'm beginning to get the feeling now that a reset cmos is an absolute must first option with P67 probs (with PSU unplugged)
And holding down the button for as long as you can stand it
(I hate you ASUS for taking away the jumper)

Clearing the CMOS after a successful BIOS flash is definitely a good idea. The CLRTC jumper is still on the motherboard. It's near the SATA ports and the round coincell CMOS battery. You can also remove the CMOS battery to ensure the CMOS is being cleared.

I would go straight to the Asus site for BIOS updates, etc. No way am I loading a bogus "download manager" on my machine. OP, I don't think you're doing anyone any favors by providing links to mediafire/ilivid.com.

Anyone reading this, do yourself a favor and Google "Asus." That's all you need.

You do not need to download any download manager to download the BIOS updates that Gary Key linked. Some sites might promote their download manager but it is not necessary that you use any download manager to download the BIOS updates on the first page of this thread. The links that Gary posted are for the same BIOS updates that I'm personally testing on as well as many others of us here at ASUS. We do apologize that these are not yet on our support site yet and we will work on uploading these ASAP. If you would like to wait until they're available on our support website/FTP, that is fine too.

bankster, you're right, there is no jumper on the Deluxe. The PRO does have the jumper since it does not have a clear CMOS button..

Yeah, those drivers do 2 main things -
>get trim working PROPERLY - garbage cleaning
>these are the first INTEL drivers (RST) that support >2.19TB drives - like if you bought one of the Hitatchi 7200RPM 3TB drives. Some guys are running these O.K. in TRUE EFI, but are using MS drivers, not Intel.

As far as the correct 2048K offset, the prob is when you make the first partition, the offset is cemented in stone. To change offset you would have to move all the LBA addresses down in order to accomodate the larger first partition offset. The way you do it is with the Paragon PAT tool, which will move all the hex addresses in preboot mode. The bigger the drive, the longer it takes obviously - took me 1.5 hrs on a 2TB drive. PAT is 132MB, so its the real deal. I got it when it first came out and was free, I think its $30 now or free with Paragon retail PRO Partition sw. Its avail on the web if you know where to look.
It was originally for XP but later versions are more flexible
You MUST use V 2.0 or higher.
If it detects an SSD as I recall, it will auto create 2048K offset. Do not have more than one drive at a time connected or it will align them all

The easy way on a FRESH install is to use diskpart from cmd prompt of Win 7 DVD (repair your computer tools)

diskpart
lis dis
sel dis 0
clean
cre par pri size=32000 offset=2048
format fs=NTFS quick label="DSK0_VOL1"
---------------------
this assumes SSD is disk 0 (ZERO the number)
"clean" wipes the disk of any partitions/MBR/MFT/Partition table
Formatting is a waste of time as far as I am concerned.
32000 means 32GB (32000MB) - if you put no size it creates one big drive partition. When you install Win 7 it will make it active.

You can also do this with gparted 7.1.5 freesource linux boot disk, by setting "space before" to 2MiB - mebibyte - (2048K X 1024 per K = 2MiB base 2) first partition ONLY.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpa...ble/0.7.1-5/gparted-live-0.7.1-5.iso/download

Diskpart, linux gparted bootiso, and PAT are the only three sw that can do this
And dskpart and gparted are the ONLY 2 tool that can create an actual full EFI GPT disk with the three GPT partition forms:
GPT Data filesystem and MSR protected and EFI system parttitions

Hi kittysox,
Also, keep in mind that the Intel 10.1 RST drivers only support >2.2TB drives in AHCI mode. RAID mode is not yet supported on drives >2.2TB. Support for RAID arrays consisting of drives larger than 2.2TB will be available on upcoming Intel RST drivers.

Having an issue with P8P67 Pro , my Intel SSD is not showing in the auto boot drive list.

If I press F8 I can manually select it to boot
but can not set it to autoboot
as its not shown in the list of drives I can auto boot from?

Tried both 6GBs SATA and 3GBs SATA?

Was fine with shipping bios 0402 but problem started with 1053 bios.

Hi PioneerPro,
When you first enter UEFI, EZ Mode, at the bottom of the screen there is a graphical display 'Boot Priority'. Is the drive listed here?

Enter 'Advanced Mode' -> click on the 'Boot' tab (2nd tab from the right). I assume that your Intel drive isn't showing up here in the middle section called 'Boot Option Priorities' where it shows Boot Option #1, #2, and #3. So at the very bottom of this screen, select 'Hard Drive BBS Priorities' and press Enter. From here, press Enter on Boot Option #1 and select your Intel SSD. Now you can press Esc and look at the middle section again, 'Boot Option Priorities', and you should be able to select your Intel SSD as Boot Option #1.

Thanks for the reply.

Its not showing in EZ mode,
in advanced mode, its not listed in Boot Option Priorities, but is listed in Boot Override.

I can not see the Hard Drive BBS Priorities, which brings up another issue...

For some reason the BIOS screen is cut off on the bottom and right?
Im using a 1920x1080 HDTV as a monitor, gtx280 video card DVI to HDMI,
first time I ever could not see a bios screen other boards were fine?

EDIT - Got the SSD to boot as per your instructions. I could not see the BBS options but just moved the cursor down all the way and pressed enter,
that allowed me to change things. Thanks!

Any thoughts on the BIOS screen issue?
