Are platoons the equivalent of clans? I don't recall DICE ever expounding on exactly what Platoons are, though a clan equivalent was the obvious first suspicion.

Yea, they are basically the same as Steam groups. You can be in multiple ones and have one set as a primary. At the moment, the benefit of the group is that you can see other people online without having them as friends and it has platoon stats.

Do they have a "leader" or that kind of thing? I was kind of hoping that being in a Platoon/Clan would also do things like let you automatically have an official clan tag, which you don't even have to type, it just shows in-game automatically.
Or perhaps the better question is, "will" they have this kind of thing. Seems like DICE hasn't wanted to give details on exactly what Battlelog will provide in these areas.
