You know, I felt bad typing that up, but man seeing at least someone else agreeing with me makes me feel a hell of a lot better, thanks!

Nothing to feel bad about. We pay good money for this software, and we've been conditioned over the years to accept shoddy work. DICE has always had AAA ideas for games, but their execution has always been bargain bin / fire sale quality. We're only fools because this was the nth chance we've given them. At least we can still cancel, which I intend to do tonight. At some point down the line, I'm sure BF3 will be a solid game with a good interface, but my experience with several of their prior releases has taught me that this will probably be 6 - 12 months down the road, and that's on the optimistic side.

I'll try the 360 beta, since they can't shove this shitty process down my throat there, but if it's a half-baked concoction like the PC version is, then I'll just continue to enjoy Gears of War .

And before anyone cries about this being a beta and some of us being too picky, allow me to school you on what a beta is: a beta is feature complete. If this game is feature complete, they can smoke it.

I hate to say it but I am extremely disappointed. Been waiting for months and wonder how much I will actually play the game. The bloom is beyond horrible. Having a good PC is almost a disadvantage with this game. Coming out of buildings is completely blind, looking around feels slow and disjointed and it is beyond buggy.

Server browsers, key binds, default key config, video settings, prone, etc etc.

I am so mad right now. This is going to be BF2 and we will have a playable game in 3 years.

Wow, several of you are confirming my concerns about this game. I'm a huge fan of BF2, still play it all the time. I was concerned Dice would leave BF2 in the dust & try to do everything from scratch. Even though I'm sure a lot of you folks wanted that, I didn't. I'm willing to give the game a legitimate chance, but it seems like I could very well end up as disappointed as those who already are. I guess time will tell.

Speaking of money spent, we don't only spend money on the damn game itself, we spend ridiculous amounts of money just to play the damn thing. I decided a while back I wasn't going to spend a dime on upgrades until I'm really enjoying the game. Obviously that was a sound decision.

Game play wise, I'm still holding back judgement, but for fuck sakes, 70% of the people I come across that aren't lvl 1-5 the first thing they do as soon as you see each other is they go prone almost immediately.

My first game I could actually run into someone. Now, they are already prone, 50m away, in a bush. And it seems like the teams that do that sort of thing win. Cant arm the stupid mcom without having 3 or 4 lines of sight on you. In the last game I played most of the people on my team didn't even try to arm them. I gave up 10 deaths arming and detonating both, just to run into the same thing in the subway. Just pointless.

A big part maybe because its only rush, and not as dynamic like conquest where you could actually flank the campers or just go to another capture point.

Ya the map just plain sucks. I think people are grossly over exaggerating the prone thing though. If you put enough coordinated pressure on areas assaulting works fine, especially once you get past the first outdoor phase. I think taking the LAV out really wrecked the level though.

hahaha I dunno....I try sticking with my squad but we end up killing each other accidentally. And I dont think voice chat is working, and no commo rose. Its hard to coordinate.

In BF2, if you went prone you would still stick out, but will all the detail in modern games its like invisibility.

This is getting to be a trend...the Final Fantasy people fucked up FFIV and had to (figuratively) fall on their sword, the Bioware folks did to a degree regarding DA2, and there's probably a lot more examples if I followed enough games, and now, DICE looks to be on track for a community apology.

And I'm only talking about the WTF things you guys are talking about, such as the keybinding.

I really hate that I can't adjust my kit, change my class, or even look at the scores for the first 5 seconds after I die. I just watch some corpse magically move across the ground for a while. I have to wait until I spawn to exit out of the game, which is utterly moronic.

I think most of the gameplay problems I have will be fixed by never playing this map again, and instead playing maps with a better design. Laguna Presa and Harvest Day are some of the best designed maps I have seen in all my years of FPS's, I wonder why this one falls so short?

Geez...I think I am getting dropped from games when someone on the friends list sends you an invite or they just happen to start playing...have 3 CTDs, and each time there was a message asking if I wanted to join someone's game. Insult to injury....I couldnt join the game because it was full. :\

Not to be mean but you should have known that getting any multiple GPU set-up is going to encounter many problems and tweaks. That's why I always go single GPU.

Wow, I guess I am the only one that likes it so far (although my standards are low). It is already growing on me even though I am staring through a tiny peep hole (12XX x 768). Right now I think everyone is running around aimlessly trying to figure out the game, and a few snipers are hiding out.

I actually love prone, and all the terrain goodies because it means you can crawl without being seen and sneak up on people/objectives (yes it takes a while but it slows the pace down a bit). I can envision how fun this is going to be with a squad that wants to help each other and co-ordinate team play (once those things are actually in the game).

I would agree, the map is not the greatest, but I don't really like rush anyways. Add some vehicles and good squad mates and this will be great!

I would give DICE a break as well. If any of you have ever been on a programming team, you know how management over promises, leading you to under deliver (add a publisher into the mix and it turns into a real mess). I am actually shocked that they got this BETA out in time, and am not surprised by the lack of obvious features. A lot of those features you guys mention are probably such low hanging fruit and they want to knock off the big stuff first, knowing they can implement that stuff easily down the road. I am sure that the meat and potatoes of the engine/network code is what they are really interested in right now.

BC2 has similar problems even now. After about 5 seconds after you die, hitting Tab ceases to allow you to bring up the stats window, for example. if you have a flag or squadmate selected and it gets capped/dies just before you respawn, it will automatically spawn you at, often enough, your main base, whereas BF2 wouldn't spawn you at all, you'd have to choose a new spawn.

If they couldn't tighten up that kind of thing after 18 months of BC2....

I'm wondering if it's because you are having to drop down to dx10, whereas me with a 5770 can run dx11 and it be entirely playable. No way my card should outperform yours.
