After doing a little research, it looks like DICE intends to publish their server browser protocol, so I may just end up revitalizing the browser I wrote for BF2... and maybe include a keybinding utility in it, too
So, for people playing caspian, is there any truth to the rumor that when in vehicles like jets, tanks, apcs, you can't fire your jet cannon or tank/apc coaxial mg without switching to it? ie, you can't have your jet missiles or your tank's main gun selected and ready to fire at same time as coax?
i just jumped into an m1 and there is no coax machine gun at all default
so you must need a vehicle perk or something
Well crap looks like I can't run this. Needs Nvidia drivers 285, and the highest update available for mine is 280. Anyone have any ideas on fixes besides buying a new video card?
Got into Caspian as well (and played a bit before it pooped out)! It looks so amazing, can't wait to actually play it for a bit!
Someone in there said key binding is in an update, but I didn't verify. Anyone know if/how they are pushing updates? I didn't see anything updating in Origin?
Also, how do you get yourself in a queue to wait for a server? Every time I tried to join a CB server, it just said server full. I had to keep clicking join and eventually got into a server.

I have no doubt the keybinding issue will be fixed in the final build (though it's still pretty laughable that they released the beta without it working), but Battlelog is here to stay, and that blows. The concept is cool, but a multiplayer PC game requires an integrated server browser to streamline the experience.
Battlefield 3 is the opposite of streamlined.
I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, unless you're saying you expect a fresh build with an integrated server browser, fixed prone/glitching, and a usable keybinding utility on 9/29.
I really REALLY wanted to like this game. The gameplay itself is fine from what little I've played, but unfortunately it's all overshadowed because the software is such a PITA to use.
To make a decision after one game of old beta play on a small infantry only map is sad.

Nonsense. Just because there are workarounds for an inexcusable missing/broken feature doesn't render the situation excusable. DICE has been getting away with subpar programming and feature implementation since day 1, so I'm not really interested in excuses/workarounds.
Being able to update the web browser will be much easier than ingame for the developers plus being able to join a server from an URL in a post or email is great. And no, there will not be an in-game browser.
You don't seem to understand where I'm coming from. You keep referring to gameplay, despite me repeatedly telling you that I have no issues with the gameplay. For the record: gameplay is fine in my book. I have no issues with the map, I have no issues that there aren't any vehicles in said map, and I have no issues that said map is small.
I know: Unreal Tournament was doing that back in 1999, and they managed it without this contorted server-join system.

I was still trying to figure out bullet drop and of the couple of head shots I got on people running at distance I didn't think I should have gotten them how I did...I felt like I had shot behind them and still registered a head shot.

Well, unfortunately, the world is not a perfect and fair place. Small things that you're complaining about so vehemently are small to non-issues for me and others.
Game play, you have posted numerous times about prone. Prone was always going to come back, it was not in BFBC2 b/c it was a damn console port.
Caspian Border is pretty sweet. You should play it and get back to us.

Not even getting into actual game play stuff, there is a lot of shit with the UI and such that is just infuriating. I can't quit a game after a match and have to either alt tab or wait for a new round to start just to quit, and can't leave when you are dead either. Can't adjust settings before launching into a map, can only adjust settings when spawned. I couldn't find it, but where can I see my ping in game?
Game play wise, I'm still holding back judgement, but for fuck sakes, 70% of the people I come across that aren't lvl 1-5 the first thing they do as soon as you see each other is they go prone almost immediately.
Fuck, I'm so angry with myself cause I've been looking forward to this game for so long and want to love it and instead just feel disappointment.
I don't understand this. Because it was on console it can't have prone? Um? CoD has prone and it is a console game.
With that out of the way, I don't mind the server browser as much as I thought I would. My only real complaint is how it doesn't work with Chrome. I had to install Firefox just to get into a match...
