I didn't try it myself, but I saw posts today where people that did try it said it failed, even when joining an empty server.
I did create a party last night, and noted it had room for 8 people. That's an interesting number. Would it try to create two squads? On the same side? (if it worked as intended)

for my friends and i, we have trouble just getting the party setup to work. we can all join a party and half of us can do a party join (i dont have that option anywhere) and half dont. so when one of them tries it, the others that have that option get an invite to join. rest of us dont and have to just manually join them. at this point, we all get jumbled into different squads once we join. at most, two get into the same squad then we all try the leave/join squad button for a while and just give up in frustration and play. we have a 50/50 chance of all being on the same team too. party is a fail right now but the setup will be nice if it works in retail.has anyone tried partying up and joining a server?

This is sort of a strange test -- couldn't they crank the settings down to low to see what's really going on?On the CPU front, there is amazingly almost no scaling with architecture or clock speed - the only thing that really matters is having a quad core: http://www.techspot.com/review/448-battlefield-3-beta-performance/page7.html. If there's any surprise at all, it's that AMD is leading the way with its quad and hex core CPUs, and that the dual cores in the test only lose about 15-20% in comparison to the quads. An absolutely mega-overclock on a 2600k (~50%) delivers only a 6% framerate improvement.
Great news, I just wonder if they are going to say it was their plan all along. Personally I don't think so, otherwise they would have clarified that the instant outrage began to mount.

ahhhhh. Already preordered on Origin. Can you cancel origin preorders ? They already charged my CC.
If this goes through I want it on Steam instead.

They charged you? Are you sure? I have not been charged as far as I can recall, and the EA reps were very easy to deal with when I cancelled my first preorder so i could re-order with a 25% off coupon code.
If this is true, I'm totally giving the finger to EA Origin and cancelling my discounted preorder just to move it over to Steam.
Just took another look at my statement. Could of sworn I saw an EA charge there, perhaps they clear the amount then refund it...
but it did let you join a server?
