I think the platoon is full though. Someone could start an at2 or something.

I was afraid of that - well, it might be worth taking that question to the other thread. Worst case you can just friend people in the platoon - the platoon itself is more a "home base" on BattleLog than anything else. It doesn't actually have any role in gameplay. What matters there is whether you're joining with your friends/parties. And there's usually space on the AT servers Tugboat and Derptown.

Well ive come to a conclusion about the LMG's. M240B actually seems better at range, M249 will hit enemies more but wont kill them as much they will scurry off and hide whereas the M240B will actually kill them as long as you shoot 1 bullet at a time.

Also M240B + extended mag = fecking rambo when up close, dont even bother aiming down the sights sometimes :awe:

Oooo - this makes me look forward to the M240 then as you just described my two biggest gripes with the M249

I see the new server filters are up, and infantry only is available. Playing on a 1k ticket infantry only 64 player server and it's like I am experiencing a whole new game. It owns.

Interesting...can you filter by tickets? If not can you link the server or list its name?

Lol, last night I spawned at the Alley flag on that Market map.. in one of the side rooms. As l looked out into the alley itself all I saw was RPGs flying back and forth. At least 6 in the span of like 4 seconds.

Yeah - that hallway is always awash with rockets.

Just bought the game for $24 (russian edition converted to english). Gonna join you guys once the 11gb download is done.

so, i noticed a while back that if you die and get a revive, but immediately die again before you can "accept" the revive or just respawn, you only get 1 death counted against you. that seems fair since you have to press E to reject the revive and it takes a few seconds. my question is, does the shooter just get 1 kill or two and does my teams ticket bleed 1 or 2. it was a busy game so i couldnt tell on the tickets. im assuming its just 1 kill credit and 1 ticket loss

They probably need to limit the number of rockets you have like grenades. Also I saw someone mention the arm distance on those but I got hit by one last night from like 5 feet away. Seems like the minimum arm distance is just enough so you don't blow yourself up...

...I think he meant single-shot mode (I bet you figured that out), but I mention it because I need to use it more, and recommend to others they try it as well. I think it's the "v" button by default. Firing mode. Some of the guns have so much recoil that they are useless at long range in full auto.

By the way, sorry I hit you with a few RPGs a couple nights ago. At least it wasn't in crowded hallway!

the killer gets 2 kills and 200 pts but you only lose 1 ticket

each revive is +1 ticket each death is -1 ticket

that's why I revive everyone even those people who are around a corner who I know will likely die again, if he lives we just saved a ticket and he may kill someone, if he dies again he loses nothing.

so next time you say "you dumb shit stop reviving me when I am going to die again" it is probably me...

You know, it's might be your technique. I say that because mine is pretty bad. I run with the Scar and can't hit s**t with it. First of all, are you trying to zoom before firing? If so, death to you. There's such a significant delay in going to scope that even if you have the jump on someone (like when you're waiting in ambush), you can be killed without firing a shot if he's firing from the hip.

Second - try using the single-shot mode. I'm going to try that with the Scar tonight (hope you're not on the receiving end if I get lucky). The Scar has enormous recoil, so it's not quite the killer weapon you might think it is. I'm hoping I can tame the beast.

The minimum arm distance is for the splash damage. You got hit by the actual projectile.

We hope that all of you are enjoying Battlefield 3! We believe it's the best Battlefield game to date and we're continuing to improve the online experience every day with the support of our DICE Operations team. We'd like to tell you more about the exciting future of Battlefield 3.



First off, here are the latest improvements we are rolling out to Battlefield 3 as we write this.

Squad Functionality: Improved!
Today, we rolled out a number of fixes that will improve squad functionality. Specifically these fixes will improve squad stability and lessen the risk of your squad getting split up when joining a game. Keep gaming, and keep sending us your feedback so we can hunt down any outstanding squad issues.

Default Server Region Setting: Improved!
In the manual server browser on Xbox 360, there was an issue where US players would sometimes be defaulted to European servers. We rolled out a fix for this today. You can still set your preferred region(s) in the server browser, and it's a great tool to find your favorite servers, game modes, and gamer friends. Check out this handy guide for everything you can do with the console server browser, and let us know what you think!

Game Stability: Improved!
Today, we rolled out fixes for several game crash issues. Let us know if this fixes any issues you have had.

Our dedicated Back to Karkand team continues to make awesome progress on this expansion pack, which will be available in December at no extra charge to everyone who pre-ordered Battlefield 3. We asked and you delivered! We asked our creative community to name one of the redesigned control points on the upcoming Back to Karkand map Gulf of Oman. We had over 18,000 submissions and tons of fantastic suggestions. However, there can only be one winner and that winner is Simon W. His control point name suggestion was Veteran's Retreat, which will be featured in the Gulf of Oman map in the Back to Karkand expansion pack in December. Back to Karkand Lead Designer Niklas Fegraeus calls it "a great suggestion that gives our veteran Battlefield fans a well-deserved nod while fitting perfectly with the map theme." Congratulations, Simon, and thanks for helping us out with the name!

Physical Warfare Pack for all



All of our players will be happy to know that Physical Warfare Pack will be available to everyone in the future! The Physical Warfare Pack contains the Type 88 LMG, DAO-12 Shotgun, SKS Sniper Rifle flash suppressor, and flechette ammunition for the DAO-12 Shotgun. Wait till the majority of engineers get the G36C and the A-91. I thought overall the G36C was much better than the SCAR. I havent got around to using the A-91 yet, but I notice more and more people using it...err, killing me with it.

It could have been lag...I have clips when I run around a corner and shotgun people in head point blank before they get a shot off and then they somehow one shot me with an AR or sub. And they show no health loss in the kill cam. While the gunplay is not quite as reliable as it should be, 90-95&#37; of the time it seems right. Its just hard to trust what you see because of the lag.

Is anyone else seeing a serious lack of good close rounds? Doesn't really seem to matter the server or time of day but I can't remember the last time a round ended and one team hadn't just completely dominated the other.

Probably because there's so many people that have just the base weapons playing people with a bunch of unlocks. Should probably even out as the game ages.

Speaking of unlocks just started playing support last night - unlocked the c4. Went Jihad'ing. 'twas AWESOME. Crash landed, hopped out of a chopper, it slid into a t-90, then I blew the c4. Fuck yes.

I think those maps, particularly Oman, Wake, and maybe Karkand as well, will alleviate some of the cluster------ we've seen on the 64-player maps with 5 conquest points.

Do you all remember that Karkand actually had something like 8 or 9 conquest points? Now that works for a ground-only 64-player server. 4 or 5...not so much.

IIRC, Shaarqi was fun, but sometimes a cluster----, perhaps because it only had [edit: six] conquest points. Remember the stairway in the TV tower? Total blood-splattered mess (except there was no blood in that game).

This actually seems on par with the BFBC2 Vietnam expansion. I'm wondering if classic conquest assault means actual BF2 style gameplay...

It will be one of these...

Conquest: Double Assault
Each team starts with at least one control point. All control points on the map are capturable and capturing more than half of the flags will inflict ticket bleed.

Conquest: Assault Lines
A new gamemode variant exclusive to the Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike booster pack, this gamemode is similar to Assault. The EU team begins with a single, uncapturable base, while the PAC team has all the remaining control points. However, the PAC home base cannot be captured unless the EU team controls all the other flags on the map, forcing more defense onto flags that have already been captured. If the PAC flag is captured, all players on the EU team receive an award. However, if the PAC manages to recapture a base, the round will continue. If they recapture their home base, the EU is eligible to receive the award again.

Conquest: Double Assault Lines
A new twist on a twist. This gamemode has only been seen following the Battlefield 2142 1.40 patch on the Highway Tampa map. The only difference to Assault Lines is that both teams now have a base that is uncapturable until all the other flags are taken.

  • In Assault play in either of the Assault Lines modes.
  • In Conquest Assault, which is identical to normal Assault in both its coding and function, the PAC starts with one uncapturable flag (an immobile titan), while the EU starts off with the rest of the flags and an immobile titan which can be captured by PAC.

Under certain conditions, you take all of the bases and "cap out" your opponent.

It could be a lot harder to recover from a near cap-out than it was in BF2, because in BF2, you don't know if the enemy is capping one of your flags until it flips sides. You don't get a progress report as your flag goes down I noticed this right off the first time I played BFBC2. One of the ways they speed up game play for console kiddies.

Sharqi originally had 6 conquest points. It is my all-time favourite Battlefield map. If they only give it 5, it will be an acceptable loss. Hopefully it has all 6 though. It is has 4 I don't know how angry I will be, but it won't be pretty.

The video shows 7 which doesn't make sense, unless it is the 3 attacking bases + 4 on the mainland, which would be disappointing and anger me (5-6 on mainland or else).

I also don't like that they made it night time. IRNV is already overpowered without making it mandatory.

I thought I was done geeking out of the game and then that trailer gets me all amped up AGAIN.

Man, I've missed Sharqi more than any other. That map was so well designed for my brain.
