Day and night should be a server side option, as well as the intensity of the sun. Its already too hard to see people in daylight, and at night people just blend in too well. I'm seriously starting to think they did it to hide their graphics. Instead of the fog in BF2, we have this shit. DICE: "...ohhhh ahhh its a technical marvel like we said it was. You cant see past 30 feet 50% of the time because its realistic!".

the killer gets 2 kills and 200 pts but you only lose 1 ticket

each revive is +1 ticket each death is -1 ticket

that's why I revive everyone even those people who are around a corner who I know will likely die again, if he lives we just saved a ticket and he may kill someone, if he dies again he loses nothing.

so next time you say "you dumb shit stop reviving me when I am going to die again" it is probably me...

hmm thought you lost the ticket for respawn. Guess my attempts to not respawn if we were down to 3 tickets wasn't helping anything.

Wait till the majority of engineers get the G36C and the A-91. I thought overall the G36C was much better than the SCAR. I havent got around to using the A-91 yet, but I notice more and more people using it...err, killing me with it.
Heh. I personally couldn't hit squat with the SCAR until I unlocked the foregrip. I've been leveling up the G36 a bit in anticipation of the SCAR nerf, and it's been just as effective even before the grip. Maybe I'll try the A91 too.

haha yeah, trying to max out the gun while it's OPed. I've been going for 100 kills w/a gun then going to the next. Scar is really good from the hip

hmm thought you lost the ticket for respawn. Guess my attempts to not respawn if we were down to 3 tickets wasn't helping anything.

it might be when you respawn as opposed to dying, I will have to check it out.

Problem is, 100 means you get the awesome IR scope. You and Waco are good enough not to need it, but I suck at gunplay.

Karkand looks great, but I'll be on TOR by then.

Two takeaways for me:

(1) a frontal assault on a tank using an RPG is suicide. With autorepair and/or engineers, you'll never take out the tank before getting killed. Attack from the rear and it's a two-hit kill.
(2) the damage to tanks by gatling guns must be an error. You shouldn't be able to blow up a tank with the AA vehicle, or better yet, severely damage a tank with the Blackhawks side guns. Come on!

BTW, did anyone else get a chuckle out of seeing one tank come up slowly behind the other and give it a shot in the rear?

Oh, man, it's Friday and I've been playing too much BF3 this week...but it's never enough!

Battlefield 3 R8 Server Released

DICE rolled out a new Battlefield 3 server build today (R8). Again this update is only for server owners. Players do not need to do anything. Changes are listed below.

  • Crashfixes
  • RCON bugfixes; banList.add can now ban on player name
  • Fixes for team & squad handling, both during and between rounds

Battlelog Update #2

Since the day of launching Battlelog we have been working hard on adding new features and fixing issues. Today we’ve rolled out many of those fixes on Battlelog. The list below shows the biggest changes that we think you guys will appreciate.
The update that took place this morning contained over 100 fixes(!). This number is of course impressive but what’s more exciting is that a vast majority of these new features are based on your feedback on our Get Satisfaction forum. Thanks to you being so active there we can pinpoint what requests are in demand even faster. Next to each change in the list there’s a link to the corresponding feedback thread.

We monitor the Get Satisfaction forums on a daily basis and try to get a picture of what you guys want implemented or fixed. Worth mentioning is that community moderators, support and DICE developers are participating. So if you have feedback or just want to vote for ideas (use the star icon), use the yellow tab on the left side of the page. Thanks for taking the time submitting feedback. As always, we are listening!

Change list

More Server Browser filters
Even more filters have been added to the browser. How about filtering on game size, map rotation and password protection? Free slot searching has also been improved with added options. Requested by Power2ouse among others in this thread.

“Remember me” feature for sign in
When logging in you now have the option to remember your credentials. This allows you to sign right in next time you visit Battlelog, even if you close your browser. Requested by dannyboi among others Get Satisfaction.

Fixed server pinging problems in Internet Explorer 8/9 under “Protected mode”
Due to browser settings in Internet Explorer, server pings did not appear in the Server Browser and has now been fixed. This only affected Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox work as intended. Requested by FixWithFirepower among others. More info in these 2 threads on Get Satisfaction.

Play button next to server name for faster joining
When hovering a server in the Server Browser list, a play button will appear to the left. Clicking it will get you right into the action, even faster than before. Requested by dibley1973 among others in this thread.

Punkbuster check before game launch
Prior to launching the game, Battlelog will now check if Punkbuster has been correctly installed. This should fix the “Kicked by administrator” message some of you got after playing a few minutes. Get Satisfaction.

Refresh buttons for “Favourites” and “History” lists in Server Browser
The listing of your previous or favourite servers now features a refresh button in the top left. This will make refreshing your list of servers much easier! Requested by Rave-UK among others in this thread.

Server Browser now remembers sort order
Searching for servers now automatically remembers your sorting order in the server browser. Requested by NyanPrime among others in this thread.
Reminder about Battlelog's URL when signing in from Origin
Visiting Battlelog from Origin is a handy way of getting started as it will sign you right in. But you can also visit Battlelog from any computer and sign in like you would on any other page. Bookmarking your favorite pages can be very helpful!

I had *ATLEAST* 10-15 mines down on bazaar rush last stage in one game, some fellow AT'ers can vouch for that.

I know I dropped a full spawns worth at ~5 and I think it was Zakhail was ammo crating me in quick succession, and I FILLED the street between the mcoms with tons of mines

As it stands the AA gun will usually win an up close encounter where all rounds hit. I question whether the Vulcan on the Viper should even damage tanks. At least it's okay for balance unlike the AAs.

the a10 would be OP if it was the only aircraft gun that damaged land units.....

but yeah, need to tone down AA to armor damage

and MBT should do more damage than RPG

Well, part of the problem I think is they didn't put enough LAVs in the game, or even hummvees for that matter. That would make a great roll for aircraft/copter cannons. It also mixes up the ground assets better instead of it being all buggies and tanks. They want to focus the game on squad combat but don't give us enough infantry support vehicles. WTF is the deal with that?

Damavand should add an LAV to each side. Firestorm should add two to each side and take out one tank maybe. Canals should add an LAV to the US side in the aircraft carrier, maybe two and give the Russians another tank (I realize there are LAVs that spawn at Docks and Warehouse). We can keep LAVs off Seine for now. Kharg could use some that spawn at the capture points. Caspian could use one at each of the bases. And finally, they need to just add hummers to about 1/3 of the capture points in the game.

not sure if they should let mines persist through more than a couple deaths... thats kinda OP. either limit the # set at once or set persistence limit.

I did google it. Triked to run it in "compatability mode". No luck.

Been running fine since launch on 285.62 driver.

Only thing I noticed today is that Origin had forgotten my login details and the PING function was actually workikng on the server list (first time ever). Then this error everytime it goes into 3D render mode.

Yep. I ran into that when I have the latest drivers (11.10) for my ATI cards. What fixed that error was not running the game with Eyefinity. Are you using nVidia Surround? If so, I'd try to run just a single monitor and see what you get.

Edit: Other things to try:
Disabling AmBX if you have it.
Uninstall Asus smartdoctor or gamerOSD if you have them installed.

I posted this to the other thread, Advocate, but I think what jlarsson says above could be related to the same issue. VRAM.

Jlarsson - try running eyefinity at lower quality levels, perhaps high with medium textures, no deferred AA. See if it works.

Ok - I didn't know what settings you were at (I'd say 1680/ultra/MSAA could exceed 1GB, by the way).

I haven't seen this error, just the VRAM driver error.

I wish you could disable rpgs on infantry maps. It was ok the first few days, now it feels like everyone and their extended family is engineer with scar and smraw(or whatever it's called). The rockets themselves are bad enough, but with the smoke trails you can't see anything for a few seconds afterwards.
Ha ha.

I learned a few things about infantry-only servers/maps today.

(1) Damavand conquest large is complete shit without the chopper. No back-cap = no tactics, and whoever gets to C first wins.
(2) The noob toob is scarily effective. Ugh, man! I hate myself for using it but I gotta unlock smoke somehow...
