Wow this sucks. With absolutely no hardware or settings changes, my mouse/keyboard is acting very erratic in BF3. Basically it feels like I am fight for control of it. In one instance, I wasn't even moving and my character was turning around in circles. Sometimes it would subside and I could take a few steps forward but when I move my mouse slightly to turn left or right, it doesn't follow. I don't have a wireless mouse so it's not a battery or signal issue. I do have a wireless keyboard but it's fully charged.

Has anyone seen this?

When I had a 360 controller plugged in my character would move on its own. I had to unplug it. Sometimes Alt-Tabbing out then going back in fixes some issues.

Finally found a server where the aircraft didn't have seemingly infinite flares, so being an engineer was a lot more helpful again. I still don't care for the perks you get for already being a good pilot, but there's still a couple out there who don't have everything. I also might have to try a hardcore server at some point as it just seems like it taked too many shots to get anybody down.

I have almost none of the air/heli unlocks and I'm dreading trying to get them after seeing what I and others can do to air vehicles with tanks, mobile AA and stingers.

I switched to hardcore servers after the first week. It was too frustrating for me to shoot somebody 7 times and them not die.

Nice, thanks for linking.

aw look who it is

He's one heck of a chopper pilot, I'll tell you that much...we had some fun runs yesterday!

BTW, started using the Javelin yesterday. I think taking out the tracer dart from BC2 was a good move. Now we have lots of different weapons with different purposes, and not quite as many players running with the same ones. The javelin is a great long-distance anti-tank weapon, which allows you to lock on and fire all on your own. But it's too slow for close-range attacks, and it's impossible to use against infantry (the main gripe about the RPG and of course the Carl Gustav in BC2). You really have to pick your specialty in BF3, which is a good thing.

I know there's a lot of complaining about engineers running with stingers, but the truth is that these engineers now can't attack soldiers, and unless they have mines, can't attack ground vehicles either. I think it will all balance out. Instead of having four classes, we really have nearly infinite classes, and it will take good teamwork to select the right combination of kits.

They really need to fix the SOFLAM + Javelin combination though. Javelin almost never hits a painted target on the top attack. Javelin's turning ability is terrible or something, because if the target is moving almost at all, the javelin can't hit it.

MAV roadkill is total BS. Will try the EOD bot airdrop at some point though...

and independant labs agree... the SCAR-H is effing insane.
Yeah, I feel sort of like a chump for grinding up other guns instead of taking advantage of the OP SCAR I have fully unlocked already.

IMHO, Scar-H is great for close quarters, but other engineer weapons out-do it for ranged battles, because of the massive amount of recoil.

I'm almost done unlocking everything for the Support Class and will start working on the Recon class - then I will SOFLAM everything for you guys :awe:

I'm finding that the directionality of the audio in my headphones setup is somewhat lacking...

Has anyone tried those gaming "surround sound" headsets and can comment on how well they work? Gimmick or real?

In particular I'm looking at the Logitech ones.

Thanks

I use the Logitech G500, and I can honestly say that this is the best sound I've ever heard in any video games. I've always wonder about the whole 7.1 monicker for headsets, because I question how well the surround sound are emulated in a couple of headphones, but BF3 just sounds amazing. I can hear bullets whizzing by my head and can hear where the helicopters are coming from directionally. I've never used any other headsets so I don't know how well the G500 stacks up against those, but it is pretty damn awesome nonetheless.

I can't seem to find any Logitech product that matches the model G500 that is a headset....the G500 is a mouse...?

I have the G930 which is the wireless version and I love it. I got it for $70 new from logitech, had a 50% off coupon. The best directional sound so far in a game would have to go to borderlands, just simply amazing. The bass is pretty good too. It fits comfortably, although at times it does feel like it pinches my noggin but that's usually when I already have a headache but the rest of the time I can have it on for hours without feeling any discomfort.
