I was not aware of the details on the PDW-R and I havent unlocked it yet.

I agree about barrel length on the 5.56. another thing to remember is 5.56 kicks less than handgun ammo

I al so think that close quarters handgun ammo should win as its just bigger and going to make bigger holes. 'by teh numbers' its different but rifle ammo is more likely to blow through you clean.

muzzle energy doesnt tell the whole story for sure.

I was always against it because it felt so wrong but I tried to Jihad jeep last night. LOL I loaded up my jeep with c4 and I was driving straight for this tank. I jumped out and the thing just stopped completely. 0 braking distance. I didn't know what was up. So there was this tank like 8 feet away and this jeep is just sitting there with c4. I have no idea what to do so I panick and throw a grenade at my jeep. I get shot down by an engy and my jeep blows up out of range of the tank that still doesn't know I was there lol. So bad :'(

Edit: The IRNV scopes are amazing for spotting people. Helps your chopper pilots a lot too.

IIRC they stopped the jihad jeep ability

Within 10m I can do very well with any of the pdw's. Its at longer ranges that I have difficulties. It doesnt bother me so much when I lose against an assault rifle or lmg, but it bugs the crap out of me when its against someone using the G36c. The G36c with its short 9inch barrel should be in the pdw class, its way overpowered in the game compared to the real world.

I prefer a run and gun play style so Im using the PDW's to rank up my recon class. I have just recently unlocked the P90 but its my fav pdw so far with the PDW-R and UMP45 coming in at close seconds.

From the looks of that MUAV video above, it seems I should learn to roadkill with it to really rank up the recon fast. LOL

G36 and PDW-R have the same specs BF3 wise. And close quarters is why you would want to use a pdw. Otherwise, there is no point because they come up short in all other regards. For one of the last unlocks, the P90 should outclass all the other pdws before it. I would use the UMP-45 before the P90, again, cause its accuracy and damage have more impact that the P90's higher ammo and rate of fire. I'll unlock the AS VAL in another session or two, but from what I hear its truly is the best pdw.

EDIT: In fact, looking at the damage change, the G18 is better up close than the P90. The rate of fire is insane. Its why I use it as a secondary.

Nice find. Looks like most of the weapons in each class are fairly equal with only a few exceptions. Must just be the way some weapons handle or perhaps my lack of skill using them that makes some weapons feel so bleh to me.

True about the CQB stuff, but Im not patient enough to just run around in one little area, I always run to wherever the action is and end up paying the price when I get caught out in the open by an AR or LMG carrier.

The AS VAL seems to end up in my death cam a lot, it must be pretty good.

hahaha I'm a rusher, and when I round corners going from capture point to capture point I always run into 2 or 3 people at a time, which is why I need something that can take them out with hip fire. In the 20m+ range I'm usually a dead man unless I have time to switch to semi auto. Same here, recon is the only class I have left to max out. Ive gotten the most points playing recon by using the MAV spotting and racking up tons of surveillance ribbons. I tried using it to get some kills in the Metro tunnels earlier today, like that guy in the video posted earlier. Twas an epic fail. That thing is tough to control in tight spaces, Ill try it again later on an outdoor map where I wont being bouncing into so much stuff. There is just so much cool stuff to do in this game, but so little time to play.

Edit: Just watched your sniping + g18 video. Very nice. I usually just end up running around with the G18 when I equip a sniper rifle, thats why I just gave up and started using the pdw's.

The first couple of vehicle unlocks are automatically equipped, after that, you have to go in and choose from the available options to equip in the limited number of customization slots.

New Battlefield Blog Post: Incoming: Battlefield 3 update!

The DICE team are hard at work supporting Battlefield 3. To date, we have implemented several server updates to improve stability and performance. Next week we are publishing a significant Battlefield 3 client update for the PC. Console patches take a bit longer due to the certification requirements for console content, but it will follow shortly after the PC update.

So what’s in the PC patch? You’ll see improved polish, stability, weapons balancing, squad control functionality, user interface enhancements, and several feature enhancements that address feedback the community has provided to date – plus we’re removing the so called “negative mouse acceleration” that some of you have experienced.

Regarding cheating and boosting, we continue to analyze data to identify and hold accountable (ban, wipe stats) players that cheat or boost. We’ve received questions about what to do when faced with unsportsmanlike conduct in Battlefield 3 – the best course of action is to click the warning sign next to their profile name in Battlelog, or head to the EA Help Desk and report your issue. These leads will enable us to follow up on the report.

We appreciate all the feedback. Keep it coming to help us with future improvements. Check back next week to confirm the patch launch date and the detailed fix list. Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback with us!

1. Has the bug where you buy a retail copy and it proceeds to download the whole game from the net been fixed yet?

2. Is there a clan or group type feature where I can find fellow forum folks?

3. Have the launch day stability issues been worked out yet?

1. There never was a bug that did this. Origin just shows the game as downloading when it is actually installing, it doesn't download it again.

2. You can start friending those in the AT platoon, or just join the AT server when it is populated (usually later on in the night) and see who is playing, then friend those after you finish playing (it will show your past games in Battlelog, where you can see all the other players playing as well).

3. I have close to no problems when playing, and I play a lot. But I know a lot of other people have some issues where the game will crash, or they will get disconnected from the server randomly. Although, according to GullyFoyle's post above, the first patch since launch day is coming soon.

I've been getting this error for the last 2 days when I do anything with battlelog, and in order to do anything(que/profile/stats), I have to constantly refresh the page.

Try using origin to launch the battlelog browser... if not try using firefox or google chrome...

It looks like it's related to NoScript, since when I disabled it I experienced no issues I had before. This is odd to me as I've been playing since launch with NS enabled with no difficulties. At first I thought it could be the version I was using conflicting with battlelog so I updated and I'm still having the same issue.

If it's anything like me, 95% of the time I get kicked out of a game it's because the server crashed. You can check this by refreshing the server's page in your browser and it won't load.

As for the client side crashes, I was one of those getting the "Battlefield has stopped working" and CTD crashes every 2-3 minutes. I installed the new Nvidia beta drivers a week ago and that seems to have helped, as I've only been crashing 2-3 times per hour over the last week. So it's not fixed, but it isn't nearly as frustrating since I get can 2-3 full rounds in before crashing.

I get this a lot, too. Crashes like this at least twice everyday when I'm playing. Usually crashes the first time I try to log on, too, before I even get on the server.

Aggravating when you have 3 or 4 thousand points added up and lose them.

Dumb question, but when I get into an armored vehicle and it says I have 2 heat seeking missiles, how do I use them? Haven't figured out the button that enables them.
