Due to Battlelog connect issues, a large number of players are not able to play. I know several of my friends aren't able to connect to Battlelog. Supposedly, the patch this week is supposed to correct the issue.

Yup connection issues for me have turned me off from playing too mostly in game in which i lose earned points

Will reinstall the game when i build my new rig in less then 2 weeks,by then the patch should be out and for once i can have some smooth gameplay:thumbsup:

To be honest there are a lot of annoying gameplay things in the game that are probably turning some people off, combined with all the new games that came out, and the games that are coming out each week, that has lead to the drop off in players. I personally haven't played in days due to a repetitive stress injury related to playing too much. BF3 had things to themselves for a good two weeks, if there werent technical issues and gameplay issues their numbers might have been sustainable, but realistically it was going to drop. Like BFBC2, BF3 will probably make a comeback in the periods between big game release windows. BF2 had a substantial player base, but it was never the top shooter. It was always an alternative to whatever was mainstream.

Ive slowly worked my way up to the mid/hi 20's rank. I'm getting kind of bored of the repetitive game play on most servers. There are way too many players just trying to power level through the game and generate massive kill counts, CoD style. There's nothing wrong with that per se, but this is the wrong game for it.

Also, I think I have hit the wall on my preferred kit (Eng). Yes, I do at times rpg spam like a giant noob, but I really like the kit for its versatility and have the most fun playing outdoor maps where I can try to find ways to push the kits gear/abilities for max effect, and always trying new things (My KD ratio isnt that great, like 1.65:1, but who cares?).

I think I am going to start trying to work on my piloting skills - I'm just a hair better with choppers, but still pretty ineffective with both. I can practice flying on low pop servers but I cannot get unlocks because other players just rape me. I just barely have smoke for jets. I get shot down faster than I can get in the air.

Oh, and in contrast to some complaining about mobile AA. I think it goes down way to easily. I have unlocked a great deal of mobile AA, though I havent used half of them. Heatseakers are useless except against inexperienced pilots like me. Instead, I use them as distractions and then rake planes with the guns. I have gotten scary good at it too - which I never thought I'd do. But, inevitably, I piss off the other team and then they spend the rest of the match grudge killing me. And honestly, even with my unlocks and aim accuracy, I cant take down a good pilot in either a chopper or a plane. They own the hell out of me 1:1 (when they are focused on me). It isnt even close. I lose every time, badly. It just takes too many hits to take down either, but they can rake me once with MG fire and I cant even get out fast enough to repair before Im dead. (Not to mention constantly trying to fend off RPGs, Jav's and C4). Sitting in mobile AA is like having a giant broadcasting target on you. It needs better D (even if offense is nerfed). So there's the other perspective.

I forgot two things: Is there a better gun than the G36C for the Eng class, and if so what is it? It seems like I have already gotten all the guns for this kit?

Also, Some high level guy was killing me with a sweet gun he got from co-op play - the KH2002. He was a good player, but that was a seriously sweet gun. Also sweet is the SG553, and that's the one I want the most. Does everything I could ask of it.

I havent played the single player - but are those specifically co-op only unlocks? Like you have to play with another player? Sorry, I am one of those folks who is barely aware of the other game modes.

none of the engi guns are bad at all. I love them all

KH is good for close quarters. I went a good 25-1 with it after I unlocked it but the other assault guns are way better. Especially the F2000/G3/AEK

I have heard the KH suxs....

The KH2002 is a really good mid range and semi close range weapon. Think of it as a M4 for the assault class. It can only go burst and single shot but the burst grouping is close together, so aim for the shoulders/neck and the recoil should bring it up to the head. The biggest downside is the iron sights.

SG553 is a good weapon, similar to the G36C, but it is unlocked through co-op. I prefer the G36C handling.

Out of all the co-op unlocks, the G3A3 is hands down the best. I find it to be best assault weapon as it has a 7.62 round and it is extremely accurate off the hip or single shots for mid/long range. The down side is low ammo total count and it is a 20+1 mag.

The order of the co-op unlocks are:

You can earn points relatively quickly in Co-op by playing with random people. Oh how they will fail... but you'll still get those points.

I did everything normal and easy just to get enough points to push me over the edge. Some hard games with random people... not sure they were worth starting.

I want the G3A3 but damn 440k coop points for it is just crazy. I've done all of the missions, all normal and two or three hard and I barely have 170k.

You get the same amount of points with all the difficulties so I just ran through them on Easy.

Patch notes for Nov 22 patch
Major client update for the PC version Battlefield 3 as well as a server-side update for all platforms.

The update will be made on Nov. 22nd 7:00 AM UTC / Nov. 21st 11:00 PM PST.

We’ll share release timing on the console patches as soon as we are clear on the timing, these take a bit longer due to console certification process.

• General performance and loading time improvements
• “Black Screen” fix for an issue occurring on some PC Configurations
• Stereo and Rendering Support for Nvidia and AMD Graphics Cards
• Adjusted the “stuttering” encountered on some PC configurations.
• Fixed several Crashes when joining MP and Co-Op sessions
• Fixed multiple problems when using multiple monitors (Eyefinity / Surround).
• Fixed visual corruption issues on certain Nvidia Cards
• Improved loading times for certain textures
• Added console command “GameTime.MaxVariableFps” to limit max FPS

A detailed look at Squad refinements

Today's PC client patch features numerous tweaks to Squad functionality and is part of our ongoing efforts to make it easier to play with friends and Platoon mates. These changes will also be implemented for consoles when we release the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates shortly. Stay tuned for the exact date of the console updates.

First, we need to look at how joining with Squads and Platoons affects the balance of teams. Initially, servers are commanded to equal out each side, so joining with friends can impact that balance while joining with Platoons further hinders this. As a result we have made some adjustments to the in-game Squad management screen.

For PC, you are now able to highlight the various Squads and select which one you wish to join by selecting a Squad and then clicking the Join Squad button. Please note that the Squad Privacy option still allows 2 man Squads which, during 64 player sessions, can lead to players with no squad position –- the number of people with no Squads will be shown at the bottom of the Squad selection list.

After the patch is applied to consoles (in the near future) you will be able to join Squads by cycling through the list and selecting which Squad you wish to join.

I think it's beyond retarded that they can't add one more squad (so there's 7 total). Why wouldn't they allow for players left out due to locked squads to have a squad to join? It makes no sense and would be such an easy fix.

yeah thats a bit odd

Great list of updates! Actually addressed a lot players' issues it looks like.

overall yes

though I am dissappointed in one in particular:
• You should no longer be able to damage a friendly vehicle when sitting in an open position
I enjoy watching people blow the littlebird up trying to SMAW/RPG out of it.

been there done that too

same with the transport helo's....
