i dont because its blocked at work

Er, you can't see the picture or just can't go to the link? Anyway, some guy asked Zh1nt0 about esports, Zh1nt0 basically admits e-sports were a focus at some point in the past, not now. Unless you want to look through thousands of tweets, you won't find a handy explanation, the twitter link is just to prove that he did indeed say, about 5 hours ago, what is shown in the image.

anyway, back in pre-release days, DICE made statements suggesting they would focus on e-sports. I don't know a whole lot about e-sports features, you guys surely know more, but I do know that battlerecorder/spectating are part of it. So when someone asks about e-sports they are collectively asking about battlerecorder and whatever else e-sports people want.

Battlefieldo - Clues to the New Expansion

Recently we've all been getting hyped around the announcement of the next DLC Expansion pack for Battlefield 3. We're pleased to announce that thanks to an anonymous source, we've got some hints to what the new DLC could look like. First off, the name is claimed to be "Close Quarters" and looks as though will include a whole new set of vehicles and weapons. The name gives the impression that it will be more Infantry based.

Here is some code from an apparent private Battlelog server, which only DICE employees are allowed on, showing that two legendary vehicles are about to return to Battlefield 3, either in the next expansion, or one of the future DLC packs. While we can't show the entire screenshot, as it contains proprietary information, we can show you a few hints.

There are also a few weapons we noticed, including the CZ 75 Auto, and the CZ 750 Sniper Rifle.

Part of this code clearly shows a code-name that resembles the UH-60 BlackHawk helicopter, which has been in all of the modern based Battlefield games.

This section screenshot shows another vehicle, hence the lowercase "v". This one appears to be the Linebacker, also known as the Bradley Infantry Vehicle, another vehicle from Battlefield 2. We're really excited to welcome the BlackHawk and Linebacker to Battlefield 3, based on this information. While we can't confirm the validity of this information, hopefully EA / DICE will make an official statement on this DLC in the near future

Get ready for some tight-knit teamwork on intense urban environments.

Ready your flashlights, shotguns, and knives. Battlefield 3 is about to get really intense. Close Quarter combat on tight, infantry based maps.

Hey, instead of making DLC expansions, why not fix the base game.

Also, who the hell thought that making only CC maps on battlefield was a good idea. Grand Bazaaar and Metro exist for that and we see how those maps turn out.

A giant shitfest.

I'm betting statistically the CQC maps are getting more play, and if they want the COD crowd they need more small maps.

Why is it that there is more "dirt" on my screen with my gas mask off? And why is it there during cutscenes (like the ones in the office for example)? I can't believe that Dice thought that the fake dirt was a good idea and that it made it all the way through to release. WTF were they thinking?

To the best of my knowledge, DICE hasn't released any specifics other than to say that Metro is individually the most popular map.

However, that announcement is fairly recent; I have linked below a poll that Metro lovers often post over at EA UK in order to support their claims that Metro is the most played. I am not sure where it came from, the post I got it from says it came from German Battlelog but I can't verify that. Edit: Found a google cached version of it, it IS from Battlelog:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...Only-by-Linemax-de/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Now...the Metro lovers seem to have failed to notice something about this poll. If you add up Kharg, Firestorm, Caspian(that's Kaspische Grenze) and Noshar, the large maps, they add up to 47%. So yes, Metro wins individually, but larger maps as a collective group are almost dead even with smaller maps as a collective group.

Polls are one thing, and the BF fans that shout the most typically want the classic battlefield experience...lots of vehicles and large maps. But I'm betting that more people play the smaller maps, even with high player counts. I wouldn't be surprised if out of the B2K maps, Karkand and Sharqi are the most popular, and they are more infantry based.

They could also be trying out some stuff for the next MoH, which was recently announced.

The only way to know that for sure is for DICE to release their telemetry, which they will not do, otherwise we'd have the ability to debate their decisions.

The purpose of showing you that German Battlelog poll is simply to disprove people's claims that the people wanting the old BF2/1942 style of large maps is just 50 zealots over at EA UK.

New Battfield Blog Post: Get up close and personal with Battlefield 3™: Close Quarters in June, the first of three new expansion packs!

H Brun | 03.07.12

In June, take the battle indoors with our new themed expansion pack Battlefield 3: Close Quarters! This will be followed by all-out vehicle warfare in Battlefield 3: Armored Kill, featuring the biggest map in Battlefield history. Read on for the very first details about these upcoming expansion packs and more.

We are happy to announce the first details on our June expansion pack Battlefield 3: Close Quarters. As the battlefield moves indoors, we will drop you into frantic and relentless infantry combat where the tight level design and vertical gameplay creates a highly competitive environment.

By introducing high definition destruction, everything from furniture to plaster can be shot to pieces, and rubble and broken pieces will pile up on the floor as the battle rages on. Like all of our themed expansion packs, this is much more than just new maps, as we also include new weapons, Assignments, and dog tags to bring back to the base game — much in the same way as we did for Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand.

But we’re not stopping there. This fall will see some truly epic all-out vehicle warfare in our third expansion pack, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill. Featuring new drivable tanks, ATV’s, mobile artillery, and more — and to top it off, the biggest map in Battlefield history.

We also have a fourth expansion pack lined up for you: Battlefield 3: End Game, but details about that one remain tightly guarded for now. In addition to these three expansion packs and our upcoming Spring update, we will also add a much requested feature: a fully integrated rent-a-server program for console players. We will detail this program fully later, closer to launch.

We hope you are as excited as we are about finally being able to tell you the first details about our upcoming plans for Battlefield 3. Return next week for the first gameplay trailer from Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, as well as media impressions from our event yesterday at Game Devopers Conference. Shacknews - Battlefield 3 DLC resumes in June; three packs announced

by Andrew Yoon, Mar 07, 2012 1:00pm PST

Whereas Call of Duty fans are paying for a year-long "season of content" with Modern Warfare 3, things have been quiet on the Battlefront side of things. The game's first expansion pack--Back to Karkand--came out in December and was available for free for everyone that purchased an early edition of the game. But, isn't it time for some new maps?

You'll get exactly that when Battlefield 3's next DLC arrives in June.

Close Quarters will be the second expansion pack for DICE's shooter, with one week exclusivity on PS3. But what can you expect from it? The infantry-focused add-on will expand the online mode with four new maps and ten more weapons. A first-look at the new content showed an indoor apartment environment and a penthouse suite. The close quarters gameplay did a great job of showing off Frostbite 2's destructive capabilities, as walls were quickly being torn apart by gunfire.

But that's not the only piece of DLC EA announced last night. There are two more expansion packs coming. ""Back to Karkand set the bar for what an expansion pack should be," DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson said. "It's so much more than just a new map. We're trying to theme all our expansion packs."

Wheres Close Quarters will focus on tight infantry battles, the next add-on will focus on vehicular combat. "Armored Kill" will add new vehicles and boast the "biggest maps DICE has ever created... for a very Battlefield experience."

Finally, DICE announced "End Game." Unfortunately, that's all they're saying about the (seemingly) final piece of the Battlefield 3 post-release puzzle. "It's a secret right now," Troedsson teased.

Guildford, UK. – March 7, 2012 – The Battlefield™ army is over 12 Million strong and growing every day as Battlefield 3™ and its first expansion, Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand continues to recruit gamers around the world with its dynamic sandbox gameplay and state-of-the-art technology. Today, DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) studio, demonstrates its ongoing commitment to fans by unveiling three new themed digital expansion packs* that will enhance the superior Battlefield experience with fresh and innovative gameplay, new modes, unique environments and more ways to wage all-out-war on the battlefield. Powered by the Frostbite™ 2 engine, the next expansion packs are: Battlefield 3: Close Quarters in June, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill in the fall, and Battlefield 3: End Game in the winter.

· Battlefield 3: Close Quarters – In Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, players are dropped into a frantic, infantry-only theatre of war. Frostbite 2 high definition destruction makes the environment come alive as everything from furniture to plaster gets shot to pieces. Players will feel the intensity of the world exploding around them as rubble and broken pieces pile up on the floor, while tight level design and vertical gameplay create a highly competitive environment. Battlefield 3: Close Quarters also introduces new weapons, assignments and unique dog tags to bring back to the base game.

· Battlefield 3: Armored Kill– Following the tight infantry gameplay of Battlefield 3: Close Quarters, DICE will release Battlefield 3: Armored Kill that ups the ante for vehicular mayhem as only Battlefield can do. Featuring new driveable tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery and more, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill also delivers huge battlefields for an all-out vehicle assault, including the biggest map in Battlefield history.

I'm probably the only one that thinks this, but if there's an expansion coming up with "vertical gameplay", it's amazing then, the timing of the MAV riding nerf.

BIGGEST MAP IN BATTLEFIELD HISTORY!!!!!!!

Maybe that will make Alpha happy for a change.

Map size alone isn't everything. They claimed that of the BF3 vanilla maps too and if you take Kharg or Firestorm and count the areas where jets can fly that might be true. But the flags are packed together, the uncaps are out of bounds(which chops off 15% of the map size even though it technically is there).

And that's just the size of the map, you also need strategic concerns. A proper large map needs at least 7 flags, realistically 9 even, with cappable airfields, tank bases, ie things with strategic value.

If they have all that it's a great start; but I doubt the DLC will change the basic gameplay, which would make even great new map design an automatic underachiever.

But we will see...even if gameplay is the same, I will buy the large map DLC in order to contribute to correct telemetry.

I just want to know what the "extra" stuff they are putting into the next patch is. Someone hinted in game that they are going to redue some UI elements.

Oman is one of the maps I DO like...somehow the BF3 version is both better and worse than BF2's version. It seems smaller, but maybe it isn't and it's just the increased weapon range...or, maybe it's the lack of cover/brightness of sun. In BF2 you could be in those shoreline areas and not be instantly seen from across the map...hard to explain.

The MEC uncap is definitely somehow lifeless and smaller (in spirit if not in fact) though. It used to be an excellent place to fight.
