I prefer it over an in game browser since you can launch right from the server browser into a game without having to go through menus, opening splash screens and so on. I'd still rather use something like Steam's server browser.
I don't know how you got into servers with BC2, but it wasn't any more difficult for me to get into a match in BC2 than in BF3. It was only 2 clicks for me to get to the server browser in BC2, and after clicking "join server" I was in the game much faster than the ~2 minutes it takes BF3 to start for me. And if I wanted to change servers in BC2, it only took a few seconds. I still can't believe I have to exit and reload the game every time I want to change servers.
