I play 64 man Rush all the time on the city maps. I actually prefer defense so I can break out the M60 or SV98. When attacking you almost have to be a medic to conserve tickets. I may lose on defense maybe 1 in 7 games. There is usually at least one section where the defense can draw a line in the sand and stop advancement, unless its a bunch of noobs vs 20+ colonels.

I think last night there were 1-2 squads that were on voice to rush the MCOM's. That and there were a lot of snipers who couldn't shoot on the defender's side. I picked a lot of them off with a RDS M4A1.

Voice is a big advantage. Heck, having your squad read squad text is big. Last time I played no one would read them, or look at the marked objective.

Yup, if the defenders loose the MCOM arm interrupt it is too easy with 32 attackers to just grenade spam/cover the site. Then again it could go the other way easily. 16v16 in rush is much better.

On another note, if I wasn't running an ACOG on Caspian, I would have had you on the tower, because I think you had no idea where I was. We should have just done a sniper battle.

I think I'll look for 16v16 tonight and see how that plays out.

BTW, I wasn't going to stand a chance in that sniper battle. I was running an SKS with a 4x scope. Plus I haven't got the hang of the sniper rifles yet - just started playing them a few days ago (earned the MAV last night and still haven't tried it out!). But thanks for the kind invitation.

Yeah, even though my squad was on voice, our team seemed to be completely scattered on defense. Better luck next time, I guess. And maybe some better class/weapon selection too.

Anybody around right now to play? I'd like to get some good squad action going... I promise I'll try to pay attention and be helpful.

Anyone know how to "back up" BF3? Im about to build a new system, and i dont want to have to DL Battlefeild, or any of my other origin games again. With steam I have them all backed up, and its really easy to restore them, im not seeing an option for origin.

and with some problems ive had in the past with BF, and ones ive heard about, should i just re-download? to avoid any problems?

All game save data and game configurations are synced directly with Origin servers, so only thing that you need to worry about are the game files themselves.

Look in your drive's Program Files (86) directory and you should see a folder called Origin Games (I think). This is basically a backup of the installer that you can duplicate and manually add to a fresh build in the future. Of course, if you have the original game discs that works too.

Note: Not sure if patches are backed up as well.

I think you can just copy the whole folder. No official backup method like steam unfortunately.

Yes. I just keep a copy of the Origin Games folder. All the patches and updates are in there. When I moved to my SSD I reinstalled Origin fresh, then copied the Origin Games folder into it. When I started BF3 it wanted to reinstall, I clicked cancel and then it recognized the game was there and worked fine.

You will want to backup the Battlefied 3 folder located in the My Documents folder too. All of your settings are stored there.

steam backup is awful anyways(or atleast was), I just copy the steamapps folder, its drag and drop, nice to see origin is the same way

Pretty sure the steam backup file is compressed, so itll take up less space if your not using the game.

I downloaded all my steam games, and backed all of them up so i never have to download again. My steam backup file is shared across my network as well, so when i wanted to install a game on my living room pc, i just restored from my steam folder.

yeah, and its also why it would take about 2 days to backup my steam account.

actually faster to copy and 7zip compress it if I was hurting for space

Things sound much better in theory than trying to execute. I had an idea for a tank squad Driver with guided shell, gunner and 3rd seat with RPG. In a tank battle lock on and get a GS off then switch to main gun. About the same time the other two hop out and get RPGs off, 4 hits on a tank in short order.
Trying to pull it off was utter failure. Think it would only work for an ambush.

works better if 1 guy hops out with a JAV, you get 2 guided hits + 1 main hit in a matter of seconds, that will generally kill anything, if not you can repair or shoot again, repairing is prob a better idea

im also loving the JAV again, it seems like may more people are targeting things now, drstroying stuff from across the map makes me giggle

I know when I play recon, I always make sure to leave a soflam up somewhere. Something is always bound to pass in front of it.

TDM was getting a little stale for me, so Ive gone back to playing conquest again.

The latest R21 server patch seems to have upped the tank armor. I was using reactive armor and it is at least passable as an offensive weapon now.

Mobile AA also seems much better now. I hadnt used it months but was knocking out jets and helis with ease this morning.
