Was it like that when the game started, because I've been in a high ticket game where by the end, the forest became a Kansas plain after constant bombardments and destruction. I love it.

I joined towards the end. Maybe that's what it was I had just not ever seen it that barren. Thanks.

You can take out Jets and Chopters in a game of "chicken" and the MAV would survive the collision while the other air vehicles go crashing down!

Also I was on one metro server where it was litterally 10 MAVs vs my team of 32. You would see them fly up the stars into the Flag B area like no tomorrow... people were going 80-1 in that map... also when you get killed by a MAV you cannot be revived by a medic...D:

That last scene where he sniped a Jet pilot trying to roadkill him was pretty epic too!

F*ck this cocksuc*ing piece of sh*t game.

The patch besides minor performance increases has zero stability to offer...in fact for me its worst.

Another fu*king disconnect during a very excellent round with 8 out of 10 servers giving me connect issues i think the patch has done more damage then fixing...

It got worse for me as well. I had all kinds of issues right after the patch until I restarted my computer. Now everything seems better but, for some reason, its taking me easily 3x as long to load a map

Nerfing the MAV is one thing I really wish they addressed in this patch. I'm not sure it's truly overpowered, but I'd venture that it's being used in a way other than what was intended.

Also, I managed to pick up a kit with the USAS-12 with frag rounds (I'm still a few levels away from this combo). While incredibly fun, I can't imagine that it won't be toned down next patch. If not, it's only a matter of time you see everyone rolling around with that combo.

I'm also surprised that this patch fixed all my technical issues. I'm finally running the game with both Crossfire and Eyefinity enabled . The only issue I had setting it up was when I had bevel correction on, the mouse was visually to the right of where the game was registering it was (so your rounds would end up to the left of the cross-hair). Disabling bevel correction in the ATI utility fixed that.

I love the DAO-12 with frag ammo on metro. Man this patch was great, fixed everything i had problems with and smoothed out fps.

For awhile I was using the USAS-12 with frag rounds. Although it is pretty epic because once you start shooting at an enemy he has no chance... the down side is if the enemy is really close to you the frag rounds hurt you too - there were times where I killed both the enemy and myself... you can test this out by standing really close to a wall (like kissing) and shoot the wall...

Here's what HardOCP found using the HD6950:



This is all ultra with HBAO and blur but no MSAA. HardOCP says it wasn't playable at these settings.

To get playable settings, they ran all ultra/no msaa, but with blur turned off and HBAO turned down to SSAO. Makes a huge difference. Both average just about 60fps. It seems like one of the settings they turned off was causing lag on the 6950.


I think it's possible that the shadows cost a lot of performance, I think I have those turned down two steps to medium. Also I'm not sure about the AF level I have. All other items are ultra, other than stupid blur which I hate hahaha. Vsync on, fluid 60fps constant. I'd rather have HBAO than super crisp shadows personally.

Why did they add mortars to this game? Seriously.

To try to get more *NEW* players with new "noob tubes?" In the Metro Map On the RU side they can exploit it by noobing/mortaring from their spawn. On the USA side they can Mortar from the bottom of the esculator. Both sides mortaring into the Flag A area without fear of getting killed...:thumbsdown:

It was funny because a few people rage quit the other day when ATOT ExplosiveJizz was doing it - calling him a hacker and begging the ADMIN to ban him..

Dont forget flashlights and red lasers. At least in BF2 you could take out mortars(artillery) by blowing them up. Now you have to switch to support, take that guy out, but then one of theres switches to take you out, and now instead of playing the objectives your are dueling with mortars.

I was watching this mini series called Generation Kill. About a Marine Recon platoon during the invasion of Iraq. Anyways, I noticed on their scopes they have covers with pinholes in them. So there is no scope glint. And this takes place at least 5 years ago. Why BF3 includes glint, but then makes tac lights and IRNV overpowered confuses me. Its like they threw everything in but the kitchen sink and didnt think them through. Like specifically mentioning having a rail system for gun attachments, but then make you unlock the same attachments that are rail compatible for every gun over an over again. At least in COD's skinner box, you unlock the attachment just once for that class of gun.

I don't have any problems with mortars or flashlights.

Mortars are easily avoided, flashlights are just annoying from own teammates pointing them at you. You can get cover and they can't even see you to mortar you. Protip: Foliage/under stuff you can't be spotted.

The scope glint is a game balance feature not going for realistic effects. Otherwise it wouldn't be present in indoor maps and night maps. Though they should have gave snipers binoculars so they can find targets/spot without the scope and then switch to shoot. Maybe even have the binoculars auto-spot.

Yeah, but looking at a mountain and seeing a sniper with your bare eyes without even trying minimizes the effectiveness of the class. Especially since you have to headshot with a bolt action in order to get a one shot kill. It seems like recon should be dealing with recon. The glint just seems out of place, but without it you would need IRNV to counter them... A lot of these mechanics just add up to make an irritating game at times. lol Whats strange is I haven't played in almost a week, but for some reason that post about the mortars invoked the rage I had from the last time I played.

Side note: Generation Kill is an amazing mini-series, not to mention a superb book!

yeah the glint is a bit much with the overall nerfing of recon

Termie ruined everything. I had my nice 3 knife kill streak going until he thought it would be fun to shoot me in the face...

I do wish claymores were a bit more powerful. Did you know most of the time you can just run through them and still have ~20% health left?

You know, we were rocking until you came along and spawned on the other team (well, we were stacking our team a bit, to be honest...).

Then we all got pissed off and left. It was your fault!

BTW, I still have yet to encounter a claymore. I'm sure there would be more of them if they were actually effective...

Claymores have a range to trigger, and their damage scales based on range. I have died from 100% to claymores, but I have also barely survived. Flak does seem to protect you better.

Also, putting them on tanks/jeeps is the best C4 defense ever. Just note that the enemy has to be moving--you can't drive up to a unmoving camping sniper and expect them to blow up.

Ugh. After the update I started getting crashes to the desktop. I was one of those that had 0 problems before the patch... Noooo!
