Its funny, but I noticed that if I'm driving and I have a gunner, I'll leave the tank at the first sign of trouble. Sorry Gully and Canbacon! :biggrin:

I won't be able to play it until I get home from work but are the maps fun? They like they were on BF2?

I got in two rounds, and to be honest they felt absolutely and completely different than they did on BF2. I played a lot of BF2 but these maps only felt the tiniest speck of familiar to me. For one thing, I felt like me character was huge in relation to the map in contrast to BF2.

It didn't help that I had the worst team I'd ever seen. It was 5 (2 not playing, so actually 3) vs. 14 the first round, and the 14 side was almost 100% Colonel 2 and above, with several groups of clans. I was lucky to come out with an even K : D ratio, but of course we lost horribly. I hate cowards like that who won't even teams out.

What gun are you using in that video with the holographic sight and suppressor? There's almost zero recoil on it?

Back up for me, and after playing part of a 3rd map (Karkand I think?), I think the map back is a pile of shit. Just total random anarchy and spam everywhere. Spawn into 20 enemies, kill 1 or 2, get killed within 3-4 seconds at most, repeat. Worthless.

I can finally log into origin, however it doesn't recognize karkand for me. You would think EA has never dealt with an expansion pack release before.

Yeah, A-91, with just grip, HOLO, and suppressor. Its not bad, but I prefer the same attachments on the SG553 or M4A1. I think I was using it to unlock the last attachments.

You should see what I dont record! There are times when I'm teamed up with Destiny where we both go like 40-10 each game for hours straight. On infantry only maps, so its all gun play.

Its accessible. I took the right side (from US base) along the river and swam across to those cap points. You have to run along the lower wall for a bit, but its just like it was in BF2.

Maybe I was playing normal Conquest? It's really hard to tell sometimes. How many flags are on that side? BF2 had 8, 4 on each side of the river.

It's not you, it's me... from my years of playing on low player count (Battlefield CTF) games, I have been conditioned to never give up my teams armor to the enemy. I would rather go down with the ship than have the other team dominate us because they have all of the armor!

PS, I just successfully logged in to Origin, even though I may not be playing until later.

I'm liking the new/old maps, it feels like I'm actually playing Battlefield now. DICE should fire whoever designed the maps that shipped with BF3.

Besides Caspian and Kharg, all of the other maps are terrible in Conquest mode at least.

I am pleasantly surprised that the maps seem to be the same size they were in BF2. I figured that they would be smaller/changed to fit on the consoles.

There are two, and the other 5 are on the left side of the river. The missing two are now what is out of bounds, but it just looks like they wanted more people in the heart of the city. It would be very easy to include the extra 100-200m square to include the missing two bases. A clip from my previous video

hehe I'm used to being on foot. I think on Wake I spawned at a base with tanks and instinctively took off running. Bacon was slowing driving beside as to say "WTF get in the tank!".

Just reporting to say that I still get blue screens even after the latest Radeon drivers (preview 12.1 and the last CAP3) after a couple rounds. For whatever reason it can usually handle the first map and switching to another... but then whether I let things move to the next map, or even if I quit, I get a BSOD.

Love playing the new/old maps... still frustrated by this random issue.

Well, I've played each of the new maps now and can say they all felt instantly familiar except for Sharqi. That map just... I don't know if it's the "lets make everything blue" shader effects or something else but it just looked and felt foreign. Oman looked amazing, the graphics and lighting are brilliant, very happy about that. Wake is Wake, kind of been there done that but whatever...

The maps are the same size on consoles, except most of them are out of bounds. Gulf of Oman for example, only has three flags on Conquest.

Karkand feels smaller than in BF2, but I think that's just because there is a heck of a lot more stuff going on (more details and textures). It took me a while to get my bearings, but once I did it's a very good modernization of a classic.

Is there a BF3 demo available anywhere? I have it on console but I want to see how playable it is on my current rig, because I might switch to the PC. While I love the game, the constant thought in my head that I'm really only getting half of whats available (if that) versus the PC version is really making me want to buy a new setup. I'm just having a hard time convincing myself that 600 bucks is worth it just for a game.

Bummer. I bought the expansion and and I cannot play. It says that I must purchase it. Yet I received the email that I ordered it and it says I don't have to do anything special other than check for updates. I check for updates it says none. I did a repair install on it and it came back fine. Still am unable to play anything Karkland. Says I must purchase it. Has been an hour now...

I don't have a detailed memory of these maps on BF2, but the new Karkland is kick ass!

Taking the zodiak from HQ island on my first spawn in on wake really brought back some memories. 1942 type memories.
