Yes, it's unlocked and running fine as far as I can tell (well, other than the crashing, but I'm 99% sure it's the video card dying.
I don't even do 1080p, I do 1600x1200 as I'm on a 19" CRT. Once this thing goes, I'll get a larger flat panel (my hope is a 24" OLED one in a couple of years). But I'd still like to run stuff on High or Ultra, just for the visual candy. Right now I'm on Low for everything but draw distance (I play Recon usually, so it helps with that).

Current card is a 9800 GTX+, but, I believe it's dead for 3D, working somewhat reliably for 2D (but can't even get through a Windows 7 install, so, not that anymore either).
My brother is going to bring over his PC this weekend, so I'll swap over his 6950 2GB and see what's what. I'm pretty sure though it's going to be the video card. Which means...I really don't have a video card right now...
Ok, I'll check out 7870 class stuff then. Thing is, if I'm going to shell out $210 or something, I'll probably just go up to the Top minus one or two levels card, to get away from the price premium. If that puts me at $300 so be it.
Damn this video card....I wanted to hold off doing anything until Haswell! Grrrrrr.....

See how you like the performance of your brother's 6950. If it's sufficient, buy a 7850. If you want a significant jump, buy a 7950. That means ~$200 or ~$300, approximately. That's about as much as I'd spend given your CPU. Beyond that and you'll be CPU-limited.
i have 2 6870s that i need to get rid of
I love it when this game crashes wen I'm crappin all over people
Played my first rounds after a 2 month hiatus (got married, went back to school, moved, went on honeymoon etc.).

Felt great to play on my gaming rig as opposed to my laptop, and I was getting hackusations after only 3 rounds to get my bearings back. Gunmaster is a ton of fun, and everyone who plays it is awful. I was like 20-1 and everyone else was less than 5 kills. Then you get to the knife round and finish up like 32-20 haha.
If you haven't tried Gunmaster go for it, best game mode in BF3 if you ask me.
Wow, just tried it, absolutely hate it. I think the infantry in BF3 kind of sucks anyway. Just biding my time until Armored Kill gets here.
I think I mainly enjoy it because it's an oppurtunity for me to show everyone how much better I am then they are. I'm that FPS guy.
I hate it because it reminds me of how mediocre I really am.I think I mainly enjoy it because it's an oppurtunity for me to show everyone how much better I am then they are. I'm that FPS guy.
