Been jetting this morning, still no kills, but.....I am staying alive longer and have disabled a few helis and jets. So thats at least progress.

I use a MX 518 mouse and lower my sensitivity when flying and that has really helped me gain more control. I also am using Vulgar's spacebar pitch up and thats helping too, I just need lots more practice.

How do you make a quick turn? I feel like Im looping forever, right now the best I can do is by braking and coming out using afterburner. Any suggestions?

Also what is the preferred load out for jets? Right now Im using air radar, ECM jammer, and rocket pods. Is there something better for a noob like myself.

Ill definitely devote more time to jets but have no confidence that I will ever "master" flight.



PS- MOH Warfighter will be here soon!

Yup, I'm looking forward to it.

Multiplayer for it really focuses on your teamwork with the squad mate. A good squad can really turn the tide of battle.

starting 08:30 UTC October 11th (click link to see the corresponding time where you live). It usually takes ~6 hours on consoles for these updates to be rolled out to all servers worldwide. On PC you should see these updates in about 24 hours on a majority of the servers.

Gunship balance tweak in Rush mode
The Armored Kill gunship received major tweaks already in the last server update. We are now further tweaking it based on community feedback. It now only respawns after the attackers have destroyed an M-COM in Rush.

Rationale: The gunship has been a bit overpowered and spawning too fast in Rush, especially on servers running modified vehicle spawn times. This tweak makes the gunship only spawn for the attackers after each crate, except the initial spawn on round start. In effect, this means that after the gunship is destroyed, a new M-COM needs to be destroyed before the gunship can respawn at all.

Gunship balance tweak in Conquest mode
The gunship will always have a 60 second spawn delay in Conquest no matter the server spawn delay setting.


Rationale: The gunship has been spawning too fast on servers running modified vehicle spawn times, making it hard to regain control of the flag controlling the gunship. This tweak will make the gunship spawn every 60 seconds independent of server settings.

Option to remove minimap in Hardcore mode
We now allow disabling the minimap in Hardcore mode.


Rationale: It’s been a requested feature from the community to be able to remove the minimap in hardcore mode. We are now adding a new preset on consoles for server admins to use called “Hardcore no map” which disables the minimap and keeps the rest of the Hardcore settings intact. On PC, you disable the minimap with the server command “vars.minimap false” that is now permitted on Hardcore servers. Enjoy!

Improved server stability
Improved connectivity between game servers and the back end, significantly reducing the number of times a server times out and kicks players.


Knife takedown fix
Fixed so that there can be multiple knife kills at the same time on a server.


Rationale: We had a bug where only one knife takedown could take place at any one time on one server. If you attempted a knife takedown at the exact same time as someone else on the server, the takedown animation wouldn’t play, and your opponent wouldn’t take any damage. This has now been fixed.

MVP Premium member score fix
Fixed so that MVP and best team is calculated using normalized score (removing the advantage Premium members sometimes received in obtaining these ribbons)


Rationale: Earlier, Premium members would get an inflated chance of becoming MVP/best team during Premium exclusive double XP events, since these ribbons were calculated based on total score. Using base values all across the board now removes this artificial advantage.

Kill list fix
Fixed the bug where a kill was listed as a vehicle kill when the player actually killed someone with a mine or similar weapon. Another where this would occur was if you fired a Javelin, then entered a vehicle before the Javelin hit its target.


Radio beacon exploit fix
Fixed the radio beacon exploit where you could place it above the roof and then spawn on it to access areas that are not meant to be accessible. This glitch was reported on Operation Métro and has been removed.


Ladder/vehicle entry fix
Fixed so that players can no longer enter vehicles while climbing a ladder.

Crash fix
Fixed a rare potential crash issue when loading a new map.

I hope I can find some "no mini map" servers now, that's awesome. I also approve of the gunship spawn timer alterations.

Now just let me map LMB to "place C4" and RMB to "detonate C4", please lol.

Keep your speed between 310-315 and you'll be able to out-maneuver 90% of pilots out there. ECM is useful in dogfights, but it can be less useful compared to flares against a team with decent anti-air unless you know how to use it correctly. Use your ECM pre-emptively against jets that are trying to lock on you but hold off if you know it's coming from an infantryman or mobile AA vehicle. The trick is to turn and fly towards and below the missile or to fly away and fire ECM when it gets near your jet. Both of these options require you to be flying at 100m or less.

Sounds like I may be better off with flares until I get a better grasp on maneuvering. Thanks for the tips, ill give em a try later.

does it take awhile for your info to update on the website? i got some unlocks for assault but they aren't showing up on the site.

Wonder what kind of bug would cause that. It seems really weird.

Gunship needed the nerf. Really sucked when the planes wouldn't go after it and it just orbits and kills everything on the ground.

If you want easy kills, go after infantry. Spot areas where they're likely to be like enemy controlled command points (Q is default spot key). Only hit the spot key about once per second (see my previous post). Both your guns and rockets work well for this, but you need to be pretty accurate, so line up your shot perfectly with the mouse before you fire.

I think I might play AK rush mode again since the AC130 was nerfed. It was ridiculous. Spawn die spawn die over and over. Also, I might warm up to hardcore mode more now that the minimap can be taken out. It would be much more immersive and realistic that way.

It's all about controlling your speed. I hold brake down in turns with the conquest jets and tap afterburner to keep my speed in the right range for sharp turns.

On the rush jets you just tap brake to keep your speed correct.

Most of my turning is done in third person, you can tell if you hvae your speed right by how the jet looks on screen. When you're turning sharper it's easy to tell by what the jet looks like.

Another pro tip only turn left/right if you're trying to chase someone who doesn't see you. If you someone is on your tail turning left/right is an instant death sentence with a decent pilot.

It's harder to control speed in loops so it makes it easier to outloop the mediocre pilots on your six and get behind them. Also loops are more disorienting making it harder for them to aim at you. To loop fast you need to use afterburner when going up and brake when going down to counteract gravity and keep you in the right speed range. Most people are awful at this.

If I can get into a vehicle with a competent driver, then I can do really well and have lots of fun. Problem is actually getting into a vehicle though

Well I got one kill and a couple more disables in a jet before a good pilot showed up and took me to the woodshed.

Lol this is exactly how I feel with the attack chopper. If I can get a good pilot I can rake in the kills as the gunner.

I played in a low count server and Arkaign was on the opp team. I was in a jet and he is an annoying freak to try to kill when in a tank. Its like every time I fired a rocket at his tank, a large red X would appear on my screen along with a loud buzzer sound to inform me that my attempt on his tank was repeatedly denied. Good to have on your team though

OK so I set up a filter for:
Game: Battlefield 3
Detailed: Ranked/Punkbuster
Free Slots: 10+

No other filters. I only get 30 servers in the results. Only 10 of them have more than 15 players on them. What am I missing here?

and then the one server I do join I get kicked by some bitch admin within 5 minutes.
