There is no indication OR effect that weakens you upon living and death.

I guess that's why my searches didn't turn up anything on the topic. Thanks.

However, I have seen this happen all through leveling and saw it again just now in once of the story missions. I'll be going toe-to-toe with two or three mobs, exchanging multiple blows and wearing them down. I'll kill a couple, then the last one has me on the ropes and then I'm downed. If I successfully revive, I heal up and try to put some distance between us, but the slightest tap could defeat me from 70-90% to 0% with a normal on level mob. So that's totally different than before being downed when I could stand and take multiple blows from multiple mobs.

The other thing is, if I can keep out of their range long enough (maybe 30 seconds), then it goes back to normal and I can take numerous hits again.

It's strange, but I thought it was working as intended, so I accepted it and just try to run out range and kite whenever I revive. It feels like a short, temporary downed penalty debuff. From what you're saying, I guess maybe I'm imagining it.

I have never experienced this, and I have died enough. Upon standing back up, it took things a few hits to hit me no problem.

As said the only penalty for dying is a short weakness in your "fallen" state. This way if you die 4 times in a very short amount of time, it won't even give you the option to try and rally yourself back-up, as each time you lose about 25% "fallen health".

I completed Lornars Pass last night, wow that felt like a achievement, 43 PoI's lmao. Also finished AC on story mode. The trash was way worse then the bosses but we got it done. I want to try it on regular now.

I am thinking about dropping weaponsmith and going jewerly/leatherworking now on my Thief.

I almost bought all the lvl 35 cultrual armor, i think its just under 2g but i would have been poor again hah. I held off my stuff is not that bad and i am not having any issues leveling. Plus i need 1g for my book tonight at 40.

Are there cultural weapon venders? I thought i heard someone say there were lvl 40 yellow weapons on a vendor in town or something.

I was looking for that cultural armor vendor, but couldn't find it. the weapon vendors, for humans, are just outside the queen's throne room.

BTW guys--if you were thinking of exploiting the cheap culture vendor in Hoelbrok (currently selling culture armor for like 500 karma?) I'd advise against it. ANet is dealing with it--you will at the very least lose those pieces, the karma you spent on it, and maybe worse.

Well I finally decided on a class to stick with, I'm having a lot of fun with my guardian so I'm going to make him my main for now. They can put out pretty good damage with the right weapons and also get amazing survivability so it's pretty easy soloing with one.

BTW I haven't seen any invite to the guild yet, is the invite system still screwed up or should I try whispering someone in game or something?

yes, it is periodically bugged. it's possible that one of us has been trying to ad you and it just doesn't work half the time--also, you may not be able to accept.

Honestly, I can wait another day or two for trading if they just fix the fricking group, guild....and mail problems.

probably best to PM dies or myself for invites. I think we're losing track of those that post the single posts later in the thread--Though I think I got most of them.

Also, aigomorlo [sic?] and Kidniki can invite, as well.

I did not see the vendor selling it for Karma, just the one for silver, looked like about 1.8g for the set.

ah, sorry. typoed. Meant to say that the cultural weapon karma vendors are the ones standing outside the queen, right next to that waypoint.

I found the armor vendors in the Death Star during beta....but haven't been looking.

mail wasn't up by ~9:30 pct this morning.

the queen is the top level of Divinity, the big central park thingy. there is a WP right there, but I don't recall the name right now.

the lowest-level weapons are for level 40. I believe at ~4800k karma each?

Ok just seems like a waste to blow that much Karma, at 36 i have like 5300 Karma. I know my friend at 80 spent like 65k karma for a weapon. He is in rough shape without the AH being up trying to get gear since most aer 3-10g a piece on the vendors. He has a lot to sell but with mail and trader down no way to really get any money fast to get geared out.

no.. its like 800 each for 1h weapons.
And 1100-1200 each for 2h weapons.

Armor is bought with currency, so this is one of the reasons why most of us is BROKE.

Spending about 1g on armor, and another 1g on your second skill book is a KILLER.

Also each time u complete a heart, that heart turns into a karma vendor for the area. Each area will have a vendor with the weapon and armor class u are looking for.

So it pays to get the heart completed.

Yeah, I wonder about that. I thought more people would have noticed.

Actually, it just happened again (second time since I posted) and it didn't look like anything hit me at all. It was almost like I ran too far from the revive point and instantly lost all health. Similar to how a mob can reset and regen back to full health if you pull it too far away from its spawn point.

My system isn't up to capturing video, but otherwise I'd record it.

the warrior has 2 revives.
The first is the normal one.
The second one is the vengence where u need to kill 2 to get out of it.
If you cant get rid of it... you die instantly after it wears out.
(which is why sometimes its best to go down again, if u think u cant pull out of vengence)

The vengence one is highlighted with you burning.

I'm not a huge MMO player, played Rift and GW1 but that was about it. Rift was meh, got bored pretty quickly and GW1 I don't quite remember why I stopped playing, probably RL stuff.

Started play GW2 on this last saturday on the pre-purchase and just casually play for about 1 hr every other night. I'm just pretty amazed at how huge this game is. There's just a ton of stuff to look at and read and do. I just found out about the WvW stuff and haven't even looked at the trading posts or auction houses or anything. I haven't joined any guilds or anything yet but I'll be making a new character this wknd sometime. Might be playing this game for some time.

LMAO true story.

I have a bunch of stuff sold last night to in chat then could not mail anything GRRR.

I would advise against buying the lvl 35 armor for almost 2g, save the money unless you are really having a issue leveling.

yeah, i'm really not interested in spending gold on any armor right now. I like the karma stuff--and I'm not too worried about replacing that karma for better gear.

the sets for late Kessex-Glendarra are rather nice. I might upgrade 2 pieces with the gold level 40 karma stuff, but we'll see. I haven't had to worry too much about armor and levels--and once I can get over that hump in crafting (slow grind to wool--GOD I NEED THE TRADING POST)--I will be making my own stuff.

I have been doing well with the gear i have found, so saving all gold and karma for now, since at 80 i am sure it will be a karma grind for stuff. Unless i hit a major roadblock i can't really see spending any karma on the way to 80.

When mail was working i bought a few Greens for 4-5s in trade chat.

You also get one piece of your armor/weapons 'broken' when you die, and gotta repair it at the broken heart icon merchants.
