Meh, laziness and preoccupations from every day's obligations and work (and tiredness).
Digital purchases were meant to accommodate that, to be at anyone's grasp in no time, a few clicks at home and the download starts. That works, until a developer trips on the branch of a integrity tree and as a consumer can't buy something that is released.
It's ok though, I make it sound like I'm pissed off. I'm not... well yes I am, but I'm not. I understand why they're doing it, "makes sense" (it does, no sarcasm). But I'm frustrated anyway. It's a necessary evil, but it won't make all consumers smile either.
I agree normally, but one you can walk into any best buy etc and pick it up tonight, 2 you save downloading 17 or so gigs by having a disk version.
Also once in game you can upgrade your normal retail version to the digital CE in the cash store if you wanted to.
actually--one of the guild members walked into BB last night to pick up a copy for his son (using rewards credits). They had none in stock, so transferred his purchase to BB online and download. So he goes home to download, and....no keys left.
He was detailing the story before the article was posted about ANet freezing downloads, so I assume that is what he is really dealing with. :\
Don't get caught up doing hearts and events and forget about crafting. I gained two entire levels last night doing nothing but crafting; 60% of one level from making wood planks from Hard Wood.
Quick tips :
Only level 1 prof initially. All the profs use the same rare mats, so you'll need a ton of them to level 2 profs at once - even if the trading house was up, you won't have the gold for it (won't have gold @ 40 + 60 for trait books). I'm at 64 and have about 30 silver, only buying gathering tools/etc.
Once you get one prof over a tier of rare mats (ie no longer need things like weak blood), then start on the 2nd prof and only make/discover for those lower level mats.
Gather like mad. The XP for a single food plant can go 600+ where I am now, which is 1/4th an event reward for 1/100th the time, and up to 100x the exp for a mob.
WvW gives big karma, and you can use that to buy things to salvage. For example, I visit a lvl 22 heart vendor to buy cloth clothes for 126 karma which salvage into wool.
Since "Stormbluff Isle" is full, do we want to move everyone to a new server so that we can all get in together (as we can still switch for free right now)?
Another thing to keep in mind is that it might be a good idea to save your crafting levels for higher levels. You can get 10 levels from each profession, whether it's 1-10 or 70-80. I think the first level 80 did the last 20 levels 60-80 on crafting alone (with a pool of mats from guildies).
Nope, just keep trying to join or make on another server and switch over when you can its still free.
Even if you are on another server you can do everything but pvp with us from another one.
Which defeats the purpose....

moving everyone to another server to join the handful of people that can't currently get on this server doesn't make much sense to me. And for our PvPers, it would be horrible. Stormbluff dominates at the moment. I sense an "over my cold, dead, body" response to such a suggestion, and I don't blame them.
Plus, you can join from any server, and guest in whenever. This game is not "a PvP game." It is a PvE game and it is a PvP game.

is there a way to get full screen windowed mode to act like it does in WoW?
in WoW you could set it to windowed mode and them maximize the window so it filled the screen and you were still able to pull your mouse outside the game. this was great when running dual monitors as you didn't have to alt+tab to do anything on the other monitor
GW has options that sound like it should work the same way but does not, if i maximize the windowed game the mouse gets locked to it and i have to alt tab to get it out
Ran into my first game breaking bug too unfortunately, I'm level 32 and am now unable to complete the level 30 personal story quest "Stealing Secrets". It's the first one in Lion's Arch where I'm supposed to meet Logan there, the quest objective never updates and so there's nothing to do in the instanced area. I take it nobody has run into this? I'm on the official Stormbluff server, I'll try it from an Overflow to see if it works there but since this is instanced I'm not exactly optimistic about it working. Hmmm, this will be a real joy-kill if I can't progress the personal story any further, that's a huge source of XP...
