Anyone else unable to play WvWvW due to massive slowdown in larger fights?? My machine isn't too bad and auto detect sets me at low/medium which is fine, but it's unplayable - like 8fps in a keep attack.

Specs:
HD5850
Core2Duo 3.16ghz
4gb RAM
Win 7 64bit
Regular 7200rpm SATA HDD

I updated to the latest drivers released 8/15

I have a similar setup but with a gtx460 and in the two time I tried it it pretty much crawled down to 10 or so fps.. but I think I have higher gfx settings than you.

Damn work keeping me away from gaming haven't play in a week and a half hehe

yeah, ~1200 file patch was downloaded last night. I didn't notice anything initially, but I do hope it fixes the various bugs--SP (which I haven;t noticed until last night--sparkfly and glendarran were fine for me when I went through those; but other mid-lower level charr/norn areas were borked last night), and the events in the Ruins of Orr zones. Those bugs are frustrating.

Also for all those curious, that don't look up this info already, and curious just what comes into creating the top end game items...

Legendary Weapons are obtained through a lot of hardword, determination, time and money. (Helps if you team up too!)

An Example would be the Legendary staff (Bifrost)

To craft this you need to put these into the Mystic Forge :
(Exotic Staff) The Legend of Rage

How to obtain these you ask?

The Legend of Rage
Loot one luckily in the world
Throw 4 rare (lv76+) staffs into the Mystic Forge and get lucky

Mystic Forge [Gift of Color + Gift of Energy + 100x Icy Runestones + Superior Sigil of Nullification]
- Icy Runestones can be purchased for 1 gold a piece at the Frostgorge Sound after Claw of Jormag is defeated
- Gift of Color : Mystic Forge [250x Piles of Crystalline Dust + 250x Unidentified Dyes + 100x Opal Orbs + 1 Gift of Zhaitan]
--- Gift of Zhaitan is a legendary Trophy obtained from an NPC
- Gift of Energy : Mystic Forge [250x Piles of Radiant Dust + 250x Piles of Luminous Dust + 250x Piles of Incandescent Dust + 250x Piles of Crystalline Dust]
- Sigil of Nullification : Make one on Mystic forge (???) or Salvage one from an item

Gift of Mastery
Mystic Forge [Bloodstone Shard + 250x Obsidian Shard + Gift of Exploration + Gift of Battle]
- Obsidian Shard can be obtaiend for 2100 karma a piece from the Tactician Deathstrider at Temple Balthazar in Stratis of Devestations
- Gift of Explorations is obtained when a character gets 100% on the map (2 per map completion, per character)
- Gift of Battle is purchased in WvWvW with 500 Badges of Honor
- Bloodstone is a rare item from an NPC

Gift of Fortune
Mystic Forge [77x Mystic Clover + 250x Glob of Ectoplasm + Gift of Magic + Glyph of Might]
- Mystic clover is obtained (10% chance) when mystic forging the items [10x Obsidian Shards + 10x Mystic coins + 10x Glob of Ectoplasms + 10x Crystals]
--- Crystal is obtained from Miyani for 3 skill points per 5 crystals
--- Mystic coins are obtained for completeing daily and monthly achievement chests. Or buying / obtaining from other players.
- Glob of Ectoplasm is found when salvaging 70+ rare/exotic items with a master's salvage kit
- Gift of Magic : Mystic Forge [250x Vicious Fangs + 250x Armored Scale + 250x VIcious Claw + 250 Ancient Bonw]
- Gift of Might : Mystic Forge [250x Vial of Powerful Blood + 250x Powerful Venom Sac + 250x Elaborate Totem + 250 Pile of Crystalline Dust]

Math update:

Assuming only way to obtain Obsidian shards is through the karma vendor, and mystic clovers from forge, and when using the forge/salvage you always get the best outcome, the total amounts of things needed are:

I also wish I could look up what I need to do to work on getting the top gear, but work comps are you know... blah

lulz... u forgot to mention that there was 3 lvl80's and one lvl46 who has been grinding AC with me about 4 times already.

Lets not make the second group feel bad.. They did well for there level, and it being there first time.

On a totally unrelated note.

Seems like the server all of you guys are on is full, and it wouldn't let me create a new character on it. Anyone know of a way to somehow get this to work? I'd rather play in the ATOT guild than with randoms

AS it is... its not much.
Seems like people in our guild have issues with grouping up.
They are either scared they wont be enough in a dungeon, or they are just scared of wiping the party out because they never been to the dungeon.

Well guys... whenever i ask for sacrifices for dungeons, i dont care if ur experienced or not. You dont get experienced until you run it a few times and know what to do.

I dont care if its you that causes our party to wipe, as long as you learned what wiped us, and never do it again.

I would love to have more participation in the dungeon runs i do, instead its always the same people i end up calling for, because they are the only ones who wish to do the dying.

And you will die... even i die.. even lvl80 geared guardians die (tig and i are emotionally damaged on the stairs with fire part, because we wiped so many times trying to res each other).. but at the end of the dungeon and we walk away with arround 30-45 silver and 30 ascolonian tears, its all worth it.


Lastly.. those of u guys who are close to 80, or who has made 80 reciently, please send kuzunoha a pm.
I am trying to reward the members who made it to 80, with a yellow lvl80 weapon from extra useless mats ive been farming.

I can make Daggers, Swords, Greatswords, hammer, maces, spears.
The properties will be a carrion spec.. meaning power + Vit + conditional, unless u want to supply me the mats for berzerkers or another class.

But if u have not gotten a free lvl80 yellow weapon from me, please send me a mail.

After hoon, its probably me.
I have enough for the gift of metal. (just bearly)
I am nowhere near for the gift of darkness.
I have about 75% of the map completed for the gift of exploration.
I am running around 33g in my personal bank right now to save for other stuff i need.
I am also hording onto about 126k Karma... but i might spend it... ive been looking for a new greatsword skin.
I also have 188 Skill Points saved... which means 12 more for my blood shard.
The 2 recipies for the gift of metal and darkness cost 10g each, so thats a total of 20g on recipies alone.

I have been farming AC like a madman, and almost have 500 tears for the gift of ascolon.

Slowly but surely, i will have twilight.
I expect and pray / hope ETA will be arround xmas when i wield a legendary at the rate im going.

i try to get at least 2 runs in per day.

usually the first one i always end up pubing because no one wants to go on them.

But i try to farm at least 60 tears if not more per day...

500+390 = 890 tokens i need for my gift + greatsword skin. :\


I kinda gave up on pvping... I only do it for the monthlies.
It takes so much effort trying to get into WvW that by the time i get placed inside one, im already burnt out from event farming.

Then the team im with sucks balls... commanders dont know how to use the stupid commander feature... they use it to say:

"Im Paris Hilton, look at me with my pretty blue star, and lets get an uncoordinated entourage going!"

And not use the real features the commanders has.
WvW is fail... its a no brainer Henge has us by the balls all the time.

This is why i stay with the PvE element, and right now im at the end.. the very very end where grinding is required.
This is why i look at greatsword skins the entire day to decide what i want to grind for, and what i want to get.

I do end up trolling inside lions arch a lot... its what i typically do while waiting for WvW if im not burnt out farming.
But WvW is Fail... Castles with siege weapons which can reach other forts is fail...
I didnt play WvW for one sided battles all the time... the masses arent masses, but packs of lemmings looking for a nice cliff to dive off, because u dont need to repair armor if u suicide from death.

I wrote this nice big letter to them explaining what is happening and why i think it's happening. I ask them to give me more info to prove that my account is actually being compromised instead of their reporting/support system locking me out.

Do I have any recourse on this? I bought the game from Gamefly so do I have to go through them to get a refund? Do I have to do a chargeback on my credit card?

I'll definitely do more dungeons--I like the dungeons quite a bit--I think it's just a timing issue for me. Usually, I get home want to veg out a bit on some simple farming, then ramp up for a dungeon run, but often people want to go in as soon as I sit down. :\ Plus, I've only been into 4 of the dungeons so far (including CM), so I'm "always up" for trying out a new one, just on a different schedule I guess.

Besides, you guys suck more when a Mes isn't around (now that Poly seems to be sticking to warrior...)

that being said, I also want the AC greatsword (not interested in the legendary)--but I want it for my warrior b/c it's a waste on mes for me. warrior is only level 17 at the moment. :\

Think you're going to need to be 35 to run with aigo, he only runs it on Explorer and that's recommended/required level 35.

I still prefer playing my Mesmer, but there's not much to do with her so trying to max out my warrior, up to 62 with him already.

And a lot of us has sworn never to do AC story mode ever again. :whiste:

I have sworn never to do TA again as i almost ended up being naked from all the deaths i did in that map....

You need at least 35 to enter AC story, once ur 35 the doors are open when i ask for sacrifices..

Until then, your still a young lamb... too young to walk to the slaughter house...

I would go with credit card company first, tbh. especially if you paid with AMEX, they are really good with fixing these issues.

Who knows, appeal to credit card company first, it might get ANet to listen (doubtful they will fret over one specific case, though).

yeah, it's surprising how much more sensible AC explorer is compared to story.

no, you just need to be the proper level for each instance. 10s = SM dungeon, 5s equal EM dungeons.

AC is the first dungeon, and it's 30 req for story mode, and 35 req for explorable mode. there is a new dungeon available every 10 levels after.

u waste too much time by doing this.
Because there is multipul zones for your lvl until you get to 80.

At the most id do is grab way points, and do events on the way to said waypoints.

If you can do the heart while there, its less you need to do when ur 80.
However, u can probably get to 30 alone just by running though all the maps and grabing waypoints only...

Crafting is very important u guys.... its an excellent way to lvl, and id say i probably got at least 7-8 lvls from crafting alone at the last part of the lvling leg.

eh, there's no "wasted time" in any of it. play it how you want to and enjoy the time doing it.

aigo went on a mad dash to the end of the game in about 5 days, then complained when there was no one to play with . Now, his awesome farming spots are too littered with people that have finally arrived to his level. (which is a good thing that he got there when he did, as that was his goal all along).

He makes a good point about hearts but I want to amend that--most of them can be done through nearby events, and not by simply doing the requested needs of the NPC. if there are mob events that spawn nearby, just focus on those and the hearts will likely be fulfilled. This saves a lot of redundancy. And, frankly, a lot of the hearts are somewhat boring gather tasks.

eventually, though, you will probably not be focusing on completion for all of the zones, if you do follow the story as a strong guide of where to be. And, of course, you will not likely want to unlock every single zone on one character on your first play through--it would really limit replay of your first couple of alts, assuming different races.

There are certainly benefits to unlocking everything on one character, and I will do that, but after I max level a few other characters, I think.

and aigo is right--crafting is huge, and in some ways, gathering can be crazier XP as all the nodes remain more or less flat in each zone. Never pass up a mine or tree, at least, as you get 3 hits of xp on each one, plus the mats (which if you don't use them, are easy sells on TP) and the bonus crits like bags of loot and gems.
