I've never seen any bots that just run around and quest or whatever, but probably because I'm still in the starter zones. I mostly just play spvp because it's the easiest way to test different builds and rune/gear combos. Which, just to bitch, I'm pretty annoyed by the fact that I have to refund all traits in order to change just a couple of points in the heart of mists. Would it really have been that hard to add a minus button?

There are a ton of bots in the starter zone that just mine ore all day long, and some that chop/gather. I think all the resources are in designated positions rather than randomly generated, which is kind of stupid because it encourages scripting. An easy fix would be to require a random keypress(es) kind of like a quick time event before mining something. A minor inconvenience for real players, but probably worth it to not have the economy completely ruined by thousands of bots gathering resources literally all day long. Ore is usually worth something like 10+ copper each so they're probably making pretty good money even though they're flooding the market with it.

No, the resources do change positions every reboot. It is just that they don't change again until the next reboot. All it takes is one run through with some third party mapping software and they mark where everything is now and back to bot'ing.

Oh, I am accepting donations for heavy armor, greatswords, and rifle. I am very poor at the moment as I spent my gold buying stuff required to get some of my crafting going. In the process I gained 20 levels and and my gear is almost all 25-30 levels lower than me. I have picked up a few things, but if you find something that you don't mind donating to the guild in the 70-75 range, please think about it (especially something for a warrior ).

How often do they reboot? I just remember seeing a cluster of ore in a line against a wall where no mobs would aggro, and bots would just warp in mine, warp to the next one, pretty much nonstop random bots appearing out of nowhere. Don't exactly remember how long I was in the area, but I wanna say at least 3 nights.

Resource nodes cycle every 3 or 4 days I think, at least thats been how long the last few have lasted.

heh, I just got my warrior from 58 to 62 this morning, simply leveling armorsmith from 150 to ~235. I wasn't able to start pumping out the good darksteel stuff, but I got him re-geared in a rare steel set--which only puts me at 10 levels below my character level. :\

but it's rare...so that's a bit better.
I am now about dead even with weapon and armor in terms of crafting.



I'm going to miss the first day of Mad King Thorn, unfortunately, but at least there's more than a week of it. It's always the best yearly GW event, so expect lots of booze, likely a unique hat at the end of it (hey--they were doing it before it was all the rage in TF2! ) and who knows what other goodies.

I suggest everyone hold onto the "trophy" items they get in loot--the grey junk stuff that monsters drop. I expect various collectors popping up, offering unique event goodies for stacks of certain trophies.

I didn't play GW1 so I don't get why this would be. Aren't trophies just vendor trash or sometime used to complete a heart?

You had collectors in GW1. They would ask for normal items that dropped from enemies like fins, seeds, etc etc. You traded those for halloween goodies. They usually asked for 2 or 3 of an item in exchange for a halloween item. The same thing happens with Wintersday(Christmas).

there will likely be vendors created just for the event, that will be looking for these junk items. Like, 25 diseased skull for a token of vomit....or something like that.

It's another economy-boosting event. You suddenly see the desired trophy items skyrocketing in price.

One of the starter areas in GW1, there was a zone that spawned a lot of level ~8 goblins, that would drop goblin statues, or soemthing like that. These were almost always requested by the festival vendors, so as the events approached, it became more and more common to see buy or sell requests for stacks of these, well above merchant value.

yep. also, Canthan new Years (which is the Chinese New Year event every year) would have the great chef--all week, he would request various junk items to make specific recipes, to appease whatever spirit was in favor that year--tied to the Chinese zodiac animal.

I expect with cooking a large part of GW2, there will be things like this in the festivals.


I wonder if this version of costume brawl will be similar to the "Hunger Games" event that went live at the end of Beta Weekend 3? that was quite fun, actually--3 teams running around with rifles, constant degen that can only be mitigated by ration drops, and you have rifle skills--shield, assassinate, drop a trap (looks like normal loot, but explodes on pickup). the team with the last surviving individual, won.

I just hit 80 today and did a couple of AC exp runs. Paths 1 and 3. Is this the dungeon to be doing to get that exotic set? Is this armor set worth it compared to the other dungeon sets?

It all depends on the looks and stats your looking for really. I personally dislike AC armor but their weapons on the other hand I really like. So its what you think its worth for your char. Goto lions arch and just preview all the gear or goto the mists and check out the pvp locker to preview most of the gear in the game. As it stands for now the end game is mainly about customizing looks as most gear that are rare and exotic are fairly close on stats just mainly different in looks.

Depends on your class.
Guardian + Warrior => id say you'd want serveral pieces unless u want to farm Cursed Shore Exotics with Karma.
Its the only way your going to get Toughness + Vitality + Power.

I play alot and I been pugging most my dungeon runs and they've actually been really successful for the most part. Been farming TA and getting into the other dungeons. Would prefer to run with guildmates though. We have several people on at times but their just doing there own thing usually.

Its the only way your going to get Toughness + Vitality + Power.

I was about to say you probably want to look at Sorrow's Embrace. They have power+toughness+vitality and the additional stats are +toughness+burn duration+protection duration. Seems perfect for either warrior or guardian (probably a little more guardian, but the added toughness doesn't hurt a warrior and if you do greatsword+bow, you will use the burning as well and that isn't a bad build for WvWvW for the added AoE that the bow gets you plus the 3 second immobilize, so you get the ranged immobilize, bullrush, hundred blades combo for the win).

I'm a warrior, AC has a set that's power, toughness and vitality I beleive. That's what I'm going for. How does that sound? I do use a rifle though so will the fact that I won't be going for precision affect my ability to be powerful with the rifle? Thanks.

I personally don't know why you would want that set unless it is for looks (or you are planning on replacing all the bonuses it gives, as +healing doesn't make sense to me unless you have more than 1 healing skill (which you don't as a warrior)).

Yeah, it seems they want to push it to literally the last minute of it being technically the 22nd. I've spent half the day checking to see when/if it was up and frankly I am getting a bit irritated now. If they would just give a time frame like 8-11:59pm, I would have been fine, but the fact they ride the entire day out without a peep gets under my skin.

Funny thing is, it seems most MMO's have this exact problem and don't realize how easily it can be to rectify if you give an honest no bullshit estimated time.

Well it is live. Patch is freaking big and downloading slow since everyone and their grandmother are downloading atm. 7600 files, I've downloaded 300MB and it says im 23% done.

Yeah, the 2 costumes and head piece look sweet, bought them and the pet, thank goodness I had a ton of gold I converted weeks ago to gems thinking of holiday events haha
