Well, my great fractal farming is slowing down a bit. I need ecto more than fractals at the moment. And to be honest, with how bad my drops have been, I am lucky to get 1 rare lately in FotM. So I think I will be back to the great AC grind. The gold plus tears (which go to making an exotic, which will almost always salvage for at least 2 ecto) will be a much faster grind at this point I believe.

I also do not know what is up with my luck and getting mist essence drops (vials, globs, etc). The current thing I am working for is to infuse my ascended gear to get some real agony resists to move on to higher levels of FotM. I plan on pushing to get to at least lvl 20 this weekend, but without 20+ agony resist, you can't go higher, and as I said already, my drop rate on the mist essences have been horrible lately. The first day FotM was available, in my 3 runs of it, I had 2 vials of mist. I then had one run a couple weeks ago where I got 8 or 9 in that single run (that was probably a fluke, but still). I used some of those to convert to globs. I need another 5 vials still, 1 glob, and 3 shards to get everything infused. Not to mention the infusion slot item which I will probably just get the simple/versatile infusions for now (due to the elderitch scroll requirements).

getting very little ascended drops is very disappointing.
Cant go to 23 cuz i get 1 shotted by the giant maw @ 22 with 10 AR.

i decided to work on wvw.
Last night zin, AP and i went out to Stormbuff isle battlegrounds, and did jump puzzles for badges!

that was fun.. I think Zin, AP and i are gonna do it again, when WvW is quiet again. You should join us kell... i got 25 badges last night just from jump puzzles while u and woop were fotming, as well as finishing SBI battle grounds.

Well, I got lucky for once last night and had a non-account-bound exotic drop, which I sold for 9g. I then used some of my thousands of tears I had laying around in my bank slots to buy exotics and toss 4 into the forge. I managed another 14g from buying 8 exotics from tears and converting to 2 random exotics from the forge. I still need to run a crapton of AC to farm gold, but hopefully not as much as I thought I would.

The Wintersday jump puzzle took me about 2 tries before I got it down, it's not a particularly hard puzzle and it's more about speed than anything else.

Yeah, if you finished the clock tower this one is pretty easy by comparison.

I never tried the clock tower but you're right, this one was pretty easy. It still took me around 13-15 tries but it felt pretty good to finish.

So question about selecting servers. Is the "full" label determined by accounts on the server? Or by the number logged on at the time of selection? I bought the game from a friend and trying to get them on Stormbluff but no luck so far. It is always full.

Edit: Been trying all day and finally got Stormbluff to show up as high population and got the account onto it.

Played a Necro yesterday. This is definately my favorite of the caster classes.

I have a level 80 necro. Is there any way to level another character but this time faster? since I have a level 80?

Use your gold to powerlevel your new alt with crafting? Maxing all 8 professions on a single character is 1-80.

Aside from that there's no large benefit to having another 80 already.

^ yeah, crafting makes things faster. cooking, artificing, jewelry are currently the fasts/cheapest methods. If you have all the dust from all tiers, and the proper mats, then artificing is by far the easiest and cheapest--actually, you can potentially make money by merching your stuff to the vendor. There is a nice guide on guru for it, you make potions, not weapons.

also, always use food and whatever boosts you have while leveling. they dont' give that much, but if you are out doing PvE anyway, every little bit helps.

And if you have experience running AC explorable, then find some groups that will accept your low level noob for runs. each path = one level. if all goes well, these are ~15 minute runs each. One way to do it is to play through with the group on your 80, then switch to your alt at the final boss and come in for the final xp. A lot of people do this.


but there are benefits to having other 80s--if you are farming ori nodes or whatever for legendaries, you can get twice or more what you would with only one high-level toon. You can group however you want for dungeons--not just stuck on one toon. It's GW, which is designed and expected to play several characters, which is why leveling is so damn easy.

the good thing is that no one class is bad or useless, and just about any group makeup will work for all situations (despite what anyone might tell you). However, if you are farming for drops and gold in dungeon runs, certain groups will likely be much faster than others. having a geared 80 of a few classes to choose from allows for much more flexibility if you think the current group is too squishy or too low dps.

In the end, though, squishiness is far less of a problem than the individual player.

Have any of you guys ever bothered to unlock the entire map? Since I have jumped so far ahead in leveling by helping two friends level into their 30s by running them through Queensdale-->Kessex-->Gendarran Fields-->Harathi Hinterlands. I am running through the other zones finishing them up. Just passed the 25% world marker tonight.

We have a few "starred" players in the guild (100% MC). I just finished the PvE maps yesterday, and am now at 97%

Just need to finish up the WvW maps to get my precious star.

which reminds me--when looking at explorer achievements, there are categories for Kryta, for Shiverpeaks, for Maguuma, etc. I have done all of the PvE world maps, but I still have something like 92/96 for Maguuma, 172/173 for Kryta, and 2 missing for Shiverpeaks? Does WvW cover some of these, or are there some non-task regions of the maps that i managed to not uncover?

Zin, I think the "named" jumping puzzles in each map don't count towards zone completion but do count towards getting the "Kryta" completion...etc.

Which server did you try playing on? Stormbluff has been loaded with people in the human zones since Christmas day. I didnt even see this many people at launch. Events constantly popping.

the lower level areas aren't going to be as packed as the higher level areas.

also, most of the longer-termed players are spending the majority of their time grinding FoTM or farming dungeons.

If you want an idea of how many people are playing, go to LA. You will usually be tossed into one of the overflow servers.

It was $30 at Amazon on Christmas. It goes on sale pretty often for $45 or less, just keep an eye on places like CAG/Slickdeals.
