Are guilds limited to who can join by server? I elected another server cause of some RL friends.. :[

Okay, cool. I'll have to get my info later to join the AT Guild and may just swap servers since the playtime with my friends doesn't match much.

Actually, You can join a guild on any server, I believe. Aren't a few in our guild not on Stormbluff? I know we had multi-server members during Beta, and I received a guild invite from a guild off-server on the first day :\

I'm actually going to test out the multi-guild thing later tonight, I think. Found some old GW1 peeps, so I want to see what they are up to (also on Stormbluff! amazing)




Also wanted to note: the Guild message box is currently broken (Well, it was last night). I was trying to change it to add drebo's server info for TS, but it wouldn't let me edit it. Sigh...just stick to the OP, I guess, for the most up-to-date info.

I cant see the progress report anymore for learning stuff on the guild influence.

Sure I was seeing it just fine, but someone complained they couldn't (hint, hint). Since then I havent been able to do anything on it.

I am not really sure how the servers and guilds work. To be honest I think this may be an impact on bugs for the guild issues we have been seeing currently though, because it has to be a difficult setup, unless each server really isnt different actual servers.

You can definitely join guilds from other servers.

Also, server transfers are free for the first week at least and Anet increased server capacity already - my guild is in desolation that was full in saturday but then sunday was only high and some members were able to transfer.

All sorts of systems are broken, but the game play is so damn good, that I don-t care much (aside problems getting in the same overflow with friends).

I wouldn't be surprised if each "server" is just a separate partition on one, massive, server. Is that possible? I don't know a thing about this stuff.

Nah, it's more likely that each server "instance" (server home zones + zone overflow instances) is just a flag, and that each type of zone has one server (well, cluster of servers) to do the processing.

The way that "server" has been disambiguated from your logical location in GW2 is kind of cool and makes a lot of sense, honestly. Although, I'm really not a fan of the whole "overflow" thing. I'd prefer the way GW1 did it, where you can actually choose which instance on your server you could go to.

But, w/e.

So apparently the lack of an in-game trading system was a deliberate omission on the part of Anet. That's very discouraging.

You mail it to them, they get it instantly.

That's all well and good for sending items. But for TRADING, it's useless.

Someone in chat has something you want and wants 20s for it...are you supposed to mail the 20s and expect him to send you the item in good faith? Hell no.

Also, there is no COD in the mail system either.

Not optimal by any means.

noticed a wee error in the details post about the game (post 2 I think)

There is also Spear for underwater weapons.

Some classes can use 2 underwater weapons (most that I know of) and some can only use use--Engineer and the speargun.

So, there is trident, speargun, and spear. I think that is all....

I liked being able to choose the instance as well, but I'm not sure if that would work in GW2. The events aren't always the same, and of course aren't active across all overflow servers in the same zone at the same time. Otherwise, people would just bumrush an overflow if one of the rarer events is suddenly up (like Shadow Behemoth), and screw a lot of the balance in exploring.

Honestly, if they could simply fix the grouping so that it works flawlessly to keep everyone together, I think it would be perfect. Otherwise, I like it as it is, as I don't see any better way to avoid actually having to queue if you want to play. The fact that you can play the game as you normally would, with a sizeable population while you "queue," is pretty awesome.

If they do COD with mail, I wouldn't have a problem with lack of trading system. I honestly don't mind majority of trading in a market--the biggest "lack of" in GW1 to me--as you spend so much time in town spamming for trades and jumping between instances just sell "Stack of whatever." Personally, I like to just put crap on market for the price I want to sell it at, and be done with it. It seems that you have more success finding someone willing to pay those prices and if not--just add it again at a lower price.

Granted, the convenience of being able to trade with someone you are grouped with is generally irreplaceable and the unfortunate truth is that you really can't trust the ave person in these games to not screw you over (whether intended or not, actually), but with a few tweaks I think few will miss it in the end. :\


And you can't drop anything on the ground, as that's the destroy item mechanic.

While I'll say that I can understand that....I'll also add that this is such a small percentage of the game that you're truly missing out on something. :\

For these trading issues, I don't think it's fair to say this is how the game is, because general release is not until tomorrow. I expect a patch and well, there are some serious, more pressing issues (grouping) that need to be addressed. Market isn't even up yet (also disappointing, as it worked well in Beta, though not all the time).

ANet is generally pretty good about community feedback. If they see the overwhelming desire for this (I think there is), then it shouldn't be too hard to add COD to mail. The mail function is awesome as it is--mail from anywhere, instantly. just click your item in the map chat, someone responds, fire off the the mail COD and done. I couldn't think of a better direct trade system than that, honestly.

I can sacrifice the trade window within a group, seeing as how the mail is instant...and essentially the same action of opening a window and hitting accept. same concerns existed before--inspect item before committing

Similar to how you have trusted traders on the for sale section, but you still don't send the item first. If it's patched in later we will consider playing it.

Your missing out and the game looks and plays great on the Catleap monitors .

So what class/lvl are you guys now? I am on the same server but formed my old raid guild. I will get a invite and join up also though.

Thief is a bit rough solo so far with there are adds. Been mostly playing with duel pistons and Mainhand sword and offhand dagger so far.
