Well, I've done a few trades, green items I can't use in exchange for equivalent items for my profession, and haven't had any problems yet. I'm sure things will get worse and scammers will start popping up soon, but hopefully the AH/BLTC will be back up by then or they will improve player to player trading by then.
As I play, I've been thinking about the changes GW2 has made to the genre and one of the biggest things I've really noticed is that Anet is forcibly trying to take the bad community out of the genre, through gameplay and other systems. Strangers rezzing strangers all over, groups that assemble on the fly without gearscore and DPS meters, no kill stealing, everyone getting exp and loot, unique gathering nodes for every player, etc. Of course, the newness of the game also means the community is more mellow than in other games, but all these things combine to really make it a refreshing change.
I'm having a great time in PvE, enjoying the story, the environments, designs and gameplay. I've done a bit of WvW and it's also a lot of fun. One thing that bothers me about WvW is that the pace of leveling is significantly slower, so it feels like I'm taking a break from progressing to play WvW. So, I spend less time in it than I would otherwise.
Although it's very different and still has a lot of issues and bugs to fix, it really takes me back to the feeling of first playing WoW at launch. There's always something new around the corner and I keep playing much longer than I intended. I don't like the portals as opposed to continuous connected zones of a more open world, but the design and everything else almost makes up for it.
Definitely a good game that seems to get better as I play it. Worth the price of admission for sure. Hopefully, Anet can keep on top of things, fixing bugs and adding new content and expansions without turning the cash shop into P2W. I'm looking forward to playing it for a quite a while to come.
