There are a few instances you have to zone into to get all the PoIs in the Charr city. Theres the war room and I think one or two side offices (Ash legion and maybe another I don't remember, might be the prison underground).

Edit: PoI in the center area: Top floor - Ash Tribune Quarters, The War Council and Iron Tribune Quarters (The Command Core), and Blood Tribune Quarters. Bottom floor - Citadel Stockade (right by the entrance).

the one you are looking for is at the top of that dbl spiral stair, go through the giant red door at the top to the command center its in there, took me forever to realize that was a door as well

im Melbufrahma.7396 but i play on Maguuma not the server with the rest of the at peeps

how the hell do you get the point of interest i have circled in the Black Citadel? Ive run all over the place on every level i know of cant get it

that place is ridiculous! so hard to figure out where to go. if it's the one i am thinking of, you have to go to the very top of the citadel and go into an instance, which is just like 1 room, for the control room, and then go upstairs.

Friendly reminder all - you can get downed about six times before your armor actually needs to be repaired. It's not a very well explained mechanic and an easy mistake to make, it works like this -

First downed state = 1 armor piece damaged. Damaged has no penalties, your armor still offers full protection. Each time you get downed another piece gets damaged. Again, damaged is nothing to worry about.

It's only after all of your armor pieces are damaged (you've been downed six+ times) that each successive time you get downed, a piece will break. Broken pieces are bad, they provide no protection and your character literally can no longer wear them. You'll be naked.

I mention this just because an AT group failed to finish Ascalon Catacombs because a couple of us ran out of cash repairing equipment that was merely damaged, not broken.

Can you throw me an invite to the guild? woop.9015
Main is warrior as i always play melee. Also leveling a ranger and engineer.
I've wasted too many years on FFXI, WoW, and GW1 and now I guess I'll waste some more on GW2.

Ah I know which one you're talking about, not the one I'm missing however

The one I can't seem to figure out is the one right next to the Bane Waypoint on the map :/

There are 2 instances/doors there which lead you to those POI's located in that area of the map.

Put them in your personal bank/vault which is shared. If you go to either the banker or crafting station you can access it.

Thank for this post, it was really helpful I thought damaged armor meant instant penalties....

Seven times. Around level 30 or 40 you get a new armor piece from personal story. And not downed, but defeated. You can get downed any number of times without braking any armor. You have to get defeated to make your armor damaged or broken.

this was pulled from my WoW guilds forum, someone pulled it from redit

So I've been playing a lot and managed to get level 80 and 10 extra levels after that, here are a few quick tips that I've picked up over my sleepless days. This game is so much fun to play I've only had to have 3 cups of coffee total, seriously gw2 is a better drug to keep me up than anything else.

  • Harvest everything you see, you get 0.5% to 0.65% (for comparison a mob gives 0.125%) of the area level in xp when you do this (0.5% of your level in WvW), it's always worth it to go out of the way to get these.
  • Try to not level crafting skills till you get to level 50+, the content becomes harder and there are less hearts to complete while crafting xp stays the same (its % level based).
  • Do WvW but only to get full zone completion, I managed to clear full zones in under two hours for close to a full level at 80 (includes the awesome xp from gathering). Even without doing the zone completion WvW is amazing xp if you gather every harvest node you see.
  • Cooking buffs are amazing, not only do they give you bonus xp but they give great stats/boosts. Itt's very easy to get your hands on food (a lot of vendors in lions arch have them), if you want super cheap xp boosts get a bag of rice balls from the cooking trainer (costs 25 karma) and give you 25
  • 0 minutes worth of xp boost (be warned it deposits on depositing all).
Try and level with friends or in a group/zerg as much as possible, not only does it make it so you can kill dynamic events (group ones) that you couldn't if you were solo but it helps speed up hearts as well.
  • Try and do dungeons at the right level, the xp from clearing is based of the level of the dungeon so it doesn't scale but if you want to help a gu
  • ildie or friend out I would go for it, its still decent xp and gear drops that is your level.
  • Have one AoE weapon and one single target weapon, clearing 2-3 non-veteran mobs with aoe is very easy and swapping out to a single target weapon for bosses speeds things up a lot.
  • Check karma vendors (hearts) for upgrades all the time, you should be able to buy one blue item every time you unlock a vendor with karma you get from normal dynamic events.
  • If you don't mind missing out on some gear try waiting till level 70+ to do full map completions. The xp you get will always be 10% of your level so it's better to do it at higher levels when the content is harder.
  • Explore a lot, the bonus xp you get from killing mobs that haven't been killed in a while is amazing (some mobs with the bonus gave me around 1.4k xp per kill at level 80), not to mention you find a lot of things to harvest while doing so.
  • If you're solo don't try to do hearts/dynamic events that are 3+ levels higher than you are, try going to a different zone (even if the other zone is a few levels below you).
  • Personal story is not that great for xp but its a lot of fun and worth doing, if you want to rush to 80 asap I would just wait till 80 to start working on it.
  • Clear farms that are in zones your level (or even a few levels lower), for those of you who don't know about them each zone has a "farm" where there are 8-10 plant nodes to gather. This is awesome xp and rests every 24 hours so if you can't spend a lot of time on each day and still want levels I would check out the farms in each zone.
  • Don't worry if you have to go back to other lower level zones to level, you might be a few levels under but the xp is still very good because you can clear stuff faster.
  • Rez everyone (even ranger pets) the xp from reviving someone is great and you're helping some one out.
  • If you have extra mats sitting in your collection but can't use them for your profession, spend a few silver to swap over to something else and use up all those mats for some quick xp.
  • Weapon rune's that give +(3/5/7/) damage on kill and stack to 25 are amazing for making things go a lot faster.
  • Skills that give you bonus move speed are amazing to help you get from place to place faster.
Hope this helps a few of you guys out, but remember that rushing to max level is not that great, take it easy and enjoy the game these are just a few tips to speed things up a little. On another note (I have a feeling someone would ask this) I only used two xp boosters (had to burn out the last few levels to 80 before I passed out) that I bought with traded gold. If you have any questions ill try and answer them as well as I can.

also if you didnt know

Shift+click: Ping the map
Shift+click+drag: draw on the map
Alt+click: Set personal waypoint
Shift+scroll wheel: Changes the elevation layer on the map.

GW2 is way more fun on the days the AH actually works for me lol. Also I miss the SWTOR story pacing, the level gaps between quests in GW are pretty substantial.

I hope they fix overflow 'hopping' for mats eventually. Even though as the player base gets more spread out it won't matter so much (I think) it's still kind of a bad principal.

I think events could use some re-thinking as well. There's almost no incentive to actually "do" one when you can just jump in for a few seconds, move on and get a medal a few minutes later anyway (even on another server); well actually the ones where you fight masses of enemies are pretty good for the amount of items dropped at least. But, the ones where you have to kill a champion mob or do an escort or collect a bunch of crap or whatever meaningless task they're asking often take much too long.

I will agree on the collection ones. Some of those seem like even with 30 people going at it, took way too long. I turned in 22 Wasp stuff or whatever, which I thought was a lot, but it turned to only be worth about 8% of the collection process. (Champion mobs are not that bad I dont think)

I think what should be done is you only get a medal if your still within the vicinity after its completed. That I feel would also be more fair.

Also those materials are not as big of a deal as the rare ones you must find on monsters. They are the limiting factor more often then not.

I mentioned this in guild chat, but I think the stacking sigils for weapons (grant +5 power per kill, stacks to 25) do not stack with other sigils. Meaning, I have a bloodlust sigil (power) on my main hand and corruption (condition damage) on my offhand.

Only the bloodlust takes effect, and I only ever see the power stacking. For me, anyway, this isn't working, and I'm not sure if this is simply part of the game.

a little testing: so it is not the fact that my offhand is a focus--the focus actually has the bloodlust sigil, yet the corruption sigil on the sword is not stacking. I switched to a non-stacking sword for offhand, and still no corruption stacking. It could be that corruption is simply bugged, or that it wouldn't stack while I already had 2 stacks of bloodlust. I'll have to test that...

Edit: so switching to corruption mainhand, no stack offhand, corruption stack does eventually accumulate. I did notice earlier, with both stacking sigils equipped, that the stacking of one seemed much slower than it should be. So it appears that this is either bugged, or it is simply part of the mechanics that you can't have two functions stacking at the same time. sigh...It also appears that both will counter each other? (meaning that corruption stack subtracts from power stack, making power stack slower than it would otherwise)

I'm finally working on crafting now too. I was in the 25% TP test pool, but it wasn't reliable at all. Now that the Trading Post is sort of working, I've been able to list a lot of things I was hanging on to and also pick up what I need for crafting. I also just vendored a lot of things once I saw the prices.

Obviously people have been stockpiling, so basic gear can be picked up for a reasonable price. Crafting material prices vary, since a lot of people are leveling. I think I'm getting the hang of the crafting system for the first time and probably will be breaking even on leveling.

It will be interesting to see how the market pans out if the trading post stays up for good. I wonder how it prices will go since everyone can gather the same nodes, but level scaling loot makes it hard to farm low and mid level dropped resources.
