1) there is currently 1 WvW map. I'm not sure if there are plans for more, as it involves 3 servers based on ladder rankings. You can spend your time capturing/building bases, creating/protecting supply lines, recruiting merc NPCs, etc. Of course you can also have fun storming the castle.

sieges in WvW are more zergfest, though. Probably not very compelling for the hardcore.

2) sPvP involves two teams, randomly selected, and is more of a 1-on-1 type of PvP. I think it is more compelling for most, as it's all about skill. I wouldn't say it is terribly hardcore, as the skill set in GW2 limits you to certain weapon types per encounter. The trait system, however, gives you a wide range of build options. success is determined, expectedly, by your skill with your class, and understanding of the mechanics of the other class you are going against.

3) No open world PvP because that is ghey. ....also no friendly dueling, which I think would be nice. But I doubt that will ever happen.

4) How good it is, is completely relative. I guess you could become quite good, quite quickly, as you can create your class, instantly jump into PvP map and get autoleveled to 80, with full skills and traits (I think traits? maybe not) and rudimentary max gear. This lets you effectively test a class before making your choice. You will always be at a serious disadvantage playing against real max level players doing this, of course.

it's still fun and as i know it is a huge map in WvW
no open world pvp is a bit sad .... no duels to ....
yes i saw that there is only 10/15 skillss.... 5 -5 per weapon and 5 additional ... 1 healing 1 special and 3 skill from 20 other skills ... its good that u can choose from 20 skills i like it so skill system is fine ....


most sad is that there is no open world pvp but i hope WvW will compensate it


uh and i still don't understand how many battlegrounds there is ..... i mean how many battleground maps ????

for example wow has ... arati basin , warsong , twin peaks and so on .. how many maps has GW2 ?

I can't compare to WoW as it is nothing like it. Also, I've never played WoW--but don't expect the same mechanics. I'm a 0% PvPer, as well, so I can only give you foundational comments.

as to the skills....that all depends. The class matters, as the weapon mechanics are different between classes. Some only use 2 or 3 weapons overall, but have an expansive skill system that ends giving them more overall skills than other classes (like Ele or Engineer). And although GW2 is nothing like it, I compare the amount of skills to GW1--and GW2 is shamefully lacking

again, very different games, but GW1 was skill-driven. You spend all of your PvE time still hunting skills all over the 4 games, and it is something to keep your class going. With GW2, all of your primary weapon skills will be unlocked by level 7 or so, leaving utility skills that are unlocked through skill point accumulation (1 per level, or about 6-8 of them achieved in each map through various challenges). You can travel among all the starter worlds from teh start...so if you were so determined, you could technically unlock half of these skills by level 20 or so.

Tempted to get this game. I've only been on D3 for maybe 1.5 months but it's soooooo boring. Actually, to me, D3 is a 30min-1hour session type game. Trying to play D3 more than that at a time makes me want to gouge my eyes out haha.

then we got something called dimished returns on the same map we farm in, which is absolutely STUPID, cuz there is only 1 lvl80 map, and having DR hit us on that map basically kills end game farming.

Also DR hits everything on dungeons as well.

Basically the game turns from guild wars... to explorer worlds.... meaning explore and explore some more... and when your done, roll a new character to explore all over again.

Arenanet has already stated that the Diminishing Returns systems was configured too harshly and that they'll be scaling it back soon. They're on record that they are "anti-botting" but "pro-farming".

Further, I've yet to bounce into the DR effect but then I only play for a couple hours a day, if that. It's usually a chore to get my dailies completed...etc.

yeah, it would not effect you. It doesn't effect me either, as I rarely do dungeons these days and hardly ever farm right now. I'm more interested in getting several level 80s, or just playing through with various characters. :\

Unfortunately I feel about GW2 the same way many seemed to feel about SW:TOR, it's a great single player story (or decent for some lines, they really need to work on that) but the game is a bit too riddled with faults for me to really enjoy playing it a whole lot anymore.

Purpose of farming? Gear.
Purpose of gear aside from legendaries (which is just bling)? WvW.
Balancing of WvW? Gear doesn't matter for 90% of fights.

That alone pretty much ruins the end-game, not to mention how many HOURS it can take to get in on some of the big servers (like our beloved Stormbluff). I mean we can grind some legendaries but most of them are pretty silly, and they are just cosmetic enhancements for the most part, nothing to actually do with top-tier gear.

Leveling alts can be entertaining due to the stories being very good for most. Problem is the voice acting for the most part is horrendous, sometimes not even the same actor for the same NPC (General Soulkeeper for the Vigil comes to mind), the stories are meant to be interconnected but due to trying to use a generic dialogue for some cutscenes, it doesn't connect with your personal story very well.

I mean I enjoy running some of the dungeons, exploring content that is actually difficult is pretty fun, but the game is very much like SW:TOR in that much of the magic feels lost once you're maxed imo.

Structured PvP is still pretty fun though so I'll probably delve deeper into that (only rank 9 atm) but the PvE scene feels very bleh to me in its current state.

yea but only playing 2-3 hours a day itll take weeks to get to 80.

but yea once you get there, not much to do if you dont care about grinding out legendarys

i wish they got claudia black to do the voice instead.
i know she loves to do Voice overs for RPG's.

I reported two identical rangers, with identical pets running in circles in the centaur area of Glendarran last night. 5 reported the other night, just before the update to the centaur bridge in Kessex

Btw I still don't get how Vulnerability works, it's supposed to be 1% more damage per stack but I often can't see a noticable change in damage. Then it hits something like 10 or 15 stacks and the damage just skyrockets.

If you link an original Guild Wars account to a Guild Wars 2 account that has a different e-mail address, does the original Guild Wars login automatically get changed to match that of the GW2 address?

I believe you are asked to choose a single email address for both if you already have the accounts. I linked mine when I first created the GW2 account, but wanted to use a different email, and I was able to update the ANet/GW permanent email address.

But I think you will be prompted to choose an address rather than being forced into one.

So now you log into GW1 with your GW2 account name as well? Was your GW1 account tied to an NCsoft master account by any chance?

I'm actually hoping to sell my GW1 account since I'm never gonna play it again and I don't care about the HoM rewards.

I can't register GW2 to the same e-mail address without linking them though, at least that's what it's telling me when I try to register my GW2 key.

no its from the 5 other warriors with me on great swords using vulnerability on crit trait.

All the mesmers were dead from the ice explosions that round, which left me and 4 other warriors to quick DPS and throw everything we had at greneth b4 it failed again.

Lucky of us one of the warriors was a shout heal warrior, which u can see the 1.5k proc heal on me.

You can also see twilight u guys... The guy from [CALM] is a twilight owner.

So, if your goal is to sell GW1, and you don't care about HoM (it is mostly useless, for sure), then can't you simply register an entirely new ANet user ID, as if you have never played GW?

My advice, as we have experienced with several hacked accounts, is to link GW2 to a unique, or seldom-used email address, anyway. With a very unique user name and password.

That way, there is no connection between the two accounts. You can then update the GW1 account to some random yahoo email address before you sell it; or did I miss something else?
