I think I got kicked out of the guild :[

I think players that haven't logged on for literally several weeks to maybe even 2+ months were purged from the guild but can easily be re-added back in.

As it stands the guild is still mainly just for casual players and a few folks that run dungeons. I would talk to Zinfamous to get re-added.

I guess because it's a free game with no subscription, people might dissapear for a really long time and then come back when there are new events, etc.

"Hi, I played the game so much and to such depth I don't even know there are 5 races, not 3."

Take his other feedback at your own peril, but sounds like someone that never played the game spitting the same diatribe GW2 haters have been spewing even before launch.

Which also goes with the posting history displayed in these forums on any talk about GW2.

I find absolutely surprising the amount of people that claim they know they won't like a MMORPG because a, b or c, and they still go ahead and buy it.

No wonder MMORPG players and MMORPG have such a bad name with other players.

Actually there is a lot more.

The playable races total 5.
Human Norn Char Slyvari and Asura.

The non playable
Skirt Quagaans Hylik Etin Centaur. ... List goes on and on

I was logged on last Sunday.. Wonder if its because I didn't log on my other characters? Dunno if its linked that way or not.

there's also the Harathi. No one likes the Harathi and the Harathi like no one.

I don't think the Tengu exist in GW2, do they? That would be nice to see, and as a playable race.

No problem, my guess it was cause I didn't log on my other characters in quite a long time. Sake.6539

invite sent.

I guess I'm not really sure why you get the "unknown" status, then. Kuz suggested that it simply meant the person had been inactive for a long time, but there really is no description. Without anything else, I just went down the list and kicked those with this status that were most unfamiliar to me. It could even be if you logged into and out of a non-representing toon.

It doesn't show character names--depending on how one was added--when not logged in, so it's hard to identify the player.

At least in GW1, each member would have "last logged in" information next to their names. You'd know if it has been a few days, weeks, months, even a year or more.

Yes, tengu exist in GW2. I've seen a few in some of the sylvari areas.

And you also have the kodan.

I would like to see tengu, kodan and skritt as playable races in the future.

I just learned that one-time only event chain in Lost Shores which I didn't participate because I needed sleep at 3am in my timezone has a chance of of a precursor reward.

Can't say I care too much now since the whole patch turned me off, but I can imagine the sheer amount of pissed off players who missed the event because of technical and real life issues. Well done!

The ease at which you can make money now is a little jarring. And, the dungeon runs appear to be extremely imbalanced as far as cash earned, I ran a path in Honor of the Waves (ioutdoor dungeons a nice change of pace to the doom and gloom of the others) and I'm pretty sure I only netted about 30-40s... whereas AC is getting a little lucrative at this point at upwards of 70s+ per run.

This weekend is a clusterfvck of the grandest scale:

1. Making Lost shores chest event a one-time only event when it really shouldn't have
2. Constant lag/DCs
3. Put not only exotics in the chest but also expensive-as-fvck precursors
4. Those missed the first time found out they can do it again in overflows that havent finished it
5. Server restarts 2 times to screw people in 4.
6. Event is gone
7. ???
8. Mass outrage

Hmm not really. One time only events are fun and add new material. And the massive lag spikes u talk about were non existent after the initial rush at Lions Arch. Yeah the canach and noll bugs did exist but can u blame them? It is an event on a grand scale.
I absolutely loved the jumping puzzle at Lions point and spent around half an hour of frustration there. There was this troll who hid himself near the rocks and would buff speed as soon as people would try jumping, thus spoiling the attempt. Was funny as hell, though frustrating.

Skipped the event, no interest. It is nice that they actually gave a world boss decent rewards for once though.

Fractals is ok so far. The first time through we got Charr/Snow/Jump-Harpy paths which all went fairly well. The harpy one was actually pretty amusing for the catbots lol. Not much trouble except for getting through the wall on the first part of the Charr one; it's way easier if you let the NPCs do the work since they don't drop oil on them and for the first time in the entire game NPCs actually do damage.

Second time through we got the swamp/dredge/statue. Swamp sucked, the wisp puzzle is a real bitch for all the wrong reasons. Dredge was annoying because of constant respawns but not bad overall. Statue went well enough except for multiple members of our party (at multiple times even) getting knocked off of their jumping platforms by "wind" or something, dying and then being unable to see their body. Our five man party ended up a three man party and eventually had to give up, called it a night then.

I ended up doing the world event yesterday as my first login in about seven weeks. There was some lag, but not that much; mainly it was the karka themselves who were spanking everybody (fairly high HP for the non-complete-trash varieties--and there were a lot of them in places; a rather deadly roll attack; and the big ones and their poison AoE attacks, on top of having to chase the actual event boss halfway across an island and through a cave). It was a good couple of hours to do the whole thing, IIRC. And, naturally, apart from a 20-slot bag my L39 Guardian walked away with nothing he could use (okay--one awesome L80 ring and an L62 spear, and three other useless yellow things I probably should have salvaged instead of selling).

The event was very long--more than 2 hours, but I do think it was a good send-up form ANet. watching the zerg get flattened multiple times was rather satisfying in the first 2 sequences of the event. And the rewards were good--maybe not 2.5 hours good, but it's hard to be too upset by a 10g value 20slot bag and a very nice green accessory (though come on--with the advent of ascended jewelery...at least go exotic, maybe?).

I also got two exotics, one named (Jora's shield). a few of us got named armor pieces and I believe Woop got the precursor of the warhorn legendary. Maybe one of the least-desirable legendary...but still: 100g at AH now and with current inflation only driving prices up on a daily basis? Not too shabby.

Oops, looks like I missed it. There was a jumping puzzle? Was there an achievement associated with it and is it still available for completion?

that is still there. all of the new content is permanent: the level 80 PvE map, the dungeon, the sPvP map.

The only thing you missed were the events that happened each day of the weekend. the first two were completely pointless.

Yesterday was the one-time event in the new map to kill the bigass kraka boss. But the map is still there, and killing kraka is part of the monthly for November

And I will say it again for people that have not seen, running AC exp mode is a real money maker now. If you get the right group/mix of people it is very quick, and now with the mini-bosses dropping 12-13 silver + tears + karma and in the case of Kohler a chest with good chance for rare and even a chance for exotic drops, well worth the time to kill now. On a typical run, you will come back with a minimum of 70 silver and another 10-15 silver worth of loot (even if you get crappy loot drops).

I have been averaging ~1g a run to be honest, with the occasional real nice drop (had a 2g+ item the other night drop).

Yeah. The ones I have gotten were pretty generic. A medium armor head/facemask, a medium armor pair of gloves (with a superior rune of the dolyak), and a dagger. The gloves were what were 2g+ mainly because of the run which alone was selling for almost 3g a week ago, but I believe dropped in price to just under 2g now since I believe a lot of them dropped on Sunday's event.

I don't think any of them were lvl 80 (well the gloves might have been).

I just bought GW2 and am going in pretty much blind and was wondering what a good race/profession for me would be. I was thinking either a Norn or Human as a Guardian or a Ranger. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Saturday I installed the game and played the hell out of it. I have a 14 Level Human (or whatever they are called) Ranger and a Level 7 Norn Warrior. Supposedly two of the easiest professions to play. Guardian is also easy to play I hear. I'd say try one of those for starters. As far as race goes pick anything that moves you. I chose the human race for the hunter because it seems to logically fit race wise in my thinking. I've played human hunters/rangers/scouts in other games so it is a natural fit in my eyes. For warrior I went Norn. They are viking like so I really wanted a badass viking warrior.

From everything I hear race really doesn't matter. They can all fight well and all heal well too. So for newbies I'd say just make what you want. You are the one that has to look at the avatar the whole time so its really up to you.

^ yeah, race really doesn't matter. It is simply story based (about 30% of the story), and avatar/dialogue/attitude, all that (Sylvari are super annoying, to be honest, and Asura are completely awesome to play)

the only difference is race-specific skills, none of which are game breaking, and none of which are generally viable in any situation, so....yeah. doesn't matter. If I had to make a suggestion, then Asura have the best Racial skills, by far. Radiation Field and the T1 skill are pretty damn good, if paired with the proper class. (i use engineer for my Asura, which seems somewhat synergestic, but I think it is best with warrior or guardian, to be honest. damage mitigation and such)

That's nice to know. Part of the reason I quit was that I really enjoy crafting in games, but chose Armorsmith/Weaponsmith. They share mats, so I was perpetually poor trying to keep up my skill with my level as you have to supplement harvesting with buying off the AH. I've got a level 55 or something and I think I have 7 silver.

Maybe I'll try to get back into it at some point.
