Also these big ass contracts and over paid signings for wider receivers are ridiculous. Mike Wallace who is the best receiver free agent on the market is now going to get big money because of contracts to Pierre Garcon and Vincent Jackson. What a joke this is going to be.

I believe they RFA'd him so technically he is no longer a free agent. But yes, that guy will be able to get top dollar.

Garcon's contract is a fricking joke.

I wanted to come in here and laugh at the Washington Redskins as the dumbest team in the NFL. Pierre Garcon is reportedly going to get 7.5 million a year. This guy has never even had a 1000 yard year and you tell me he worth that? WTF.

I don't know WTF the Redskins are thinking, but overpaying for free agents is not new territory for them. The only thing surprising is the fact that Garcon is still young and the Redskins usually tend to overpay for washed-up geezers.

Any team wanting Wallace will have to give up a 1st round pick as well.. Only a few teams have the cap space and a late draft pick (Patriots and 49ers) to make the front-loaded contract needed so the Steelers can't match.

I'm glad that number 1 pick is there to keep him for the Steelers. I'd miss Wallace if he was to go but the Steelers have the best core of receivers in the NFL Brown, Sanders, and Cotchery.

That deal really doesn't mean shit if they don't improve their O-Line because Cutler will get the shit knocked out of him again if he doesn't get decent protection.

Later games of the season were *MUCH* better for the line. He had as many sacks in the last five games as he did in *each* of the first 2. Line tightened up, but more importanty they went to a more balanced offense and not as many deep dropbacks by Cutler waiting for a play to develop that left him vulnerable.

If they go more west coast style with a new coordinator with short dink & dunks using the deep threat and run to keep defenses honest he'll fare much better. Marshall is a ball hogging possession guy so it's perfect for him. Forte is great out of the backfield and makes for a good safety valve checkdown.

Martz being gone will help them a lot. Go more simple, attack the middle and edges with your new aggressive receiver, give Forte more room to run. If Roy Williams is still undercontract maybe giving him more space with Marshall on the other side opens him up more too. Plus Bennett isn't a terrible WR and you still have Hester there for speed threats.

Things are quiet here in Baltimore so far. There was talk of the Ravens trying to pick up a top-tier wide receiver but with the way their salaries are going that's probably not going to happen.

I'm having fun LOLing at the Redskins

Get the band back together? Why would you want to re-assemble a band that couldn't make the playoffs?

You of all people should know that Cutler and his WRs were not the reason the Broncos missed the playoffs. I don't want the pathetic defense they had, that's for sure.

And Cutler is simply a much better QB now than he was then anyway. Maybe the dumbass Broncos missing the diabetes diagnosis for a year has a bit to do with that, but he's matured a lot as a player.

I think the Hester WR experiment is on it's last legs. They NEED another veteran WR.

Good point, maybe that's why the Vikings aren't jumping in even though they desperately need WR help. They're rebuilding and have a LOT of holes to fill, so maybe they're looking to draft a long-term guy instead of overpaying for "Mr. Right Now."

I got a question. I just read that Steelers are 1.8 million under the cap. If a team comes along and and offers Wallace 8 million a year for 5 years it says that Steelers get a chance to match the offer does that count toward the cap?

Yes, it would count.

Carl Nicks and Eric Wright to TB as well. Seems they are getting things done early and often.

Meant to add: This leads me to believe that Trent Richardson goes at #5 to them. New run blocking guard and filled the corner position.

If Wallace expects that kinda money, he needs to be in the NFL drug program. He is not deserving of even close to that.

I did not say that but he going to get big money too. Which I don't think the Steelers will match.

They have him RFA'd on a 1st round tender if I recall. No one will offer him squat, or at least it ain't very likely.

Once tendered, most teams avoid the player unless the tender is a lower round.

In any case, the most he'd command is a bit over Garcon's crazy contract, but way under Megatron. Best case probably 70 over 5 or so, but I'd say even that is high.

Photo of Mario Williams picking up his fiancee at a Buffalo airport. I would think that bodes well for the Bills.

Manning supposedly down to Broncos or Titans. Would be amazing if he ended up a Titan. I just have a bad feeling if he does end up here he'll end up sucking.

He won't suck no matter where he goes.

I think the Broncos give him a better chance at going deep into the playoffs, but I won't lie -- I'd enjoy him going to Tennessee simply because I would probably get to see him play more.

I doubt it, he doesn't have that much leverage because he's an RFA. Now he still might get offered a frontloaded, nice contract that the Steelers can't match. But I can't imagine that he'd get a payday commiserate with what he would receive as an UFA
