Another week of waiting. Sigh. My expensive paper weight boxes keeps on getting even more dust as the days go by. I just hope I get the dam chip before the end of this month.

Doh! I've been charged too and it's not under temporary authorization...

I was charged as well, so I cancelled my order and just received my credit for it. It is absolutely ridiculous for a company to do what they did.

Yea well, Monarch is a well established company with a good rep, so I don't blame you from going with them in the first place.

We can still take pre-orders, but new orders will ship like 2, maybe 3 days after our first batch goes out. So honestly, if you want them ASAP, a pre-order from us at this point won't be the fastest out there. We can still take them of course, but others will be faster.

Our original pre-order customers will still get them right after we recieve them, but for new ones we have to wait for our 2nd batch.

Wow, Monarch is getting ridiculous, we have heard from a couple other places that they are starting to ship them yet Monarch cannot, and on top of all this they charged my credit card $1000 on 6/05 and I have already incurred interest on this charge and normally I wouldn't bitch if I actually had what I paid for in my hands, but now i have to wait until 6/24? Come on, I am considering cancelling my order.

I am not blaming them for the delay I KNOW this is AMDs fault, but why the hell do I have to pay interest on a $1000 purchase on my credit card that I have yet to receive?

Are you sure they actually *charged* your card, or was it a credit hold? If they actually charged, I think that's agains the law. I could be wrong, but I think it's technically illegal to charge your card before shipping the product.

Look at your card and see if your balance has gone up, or if it's just that your available credit is $1000 less. You might just have a credit hold for that amount...

If they did actually charge, that's ridiculous.

Yup charging your credit without shipping a product can get them in a lot of hot water.

Tankguy - thanks for all the info.

I checked the AMD website and the ONLY support motherboard with AGP support is the ASUS VIA 800 PRo one. I cannot believe this - some other AGP boards like NFORCE3 must be able to support this.

Given that most people have expensive AGP video cards switching seems really sad at this point. The via chipset is not that bad - I just don't like the reports of SATA corruption (ala NFORCE4) and the fact that the Gigabit LAN is on the PCI bus and not off of it like on NFORCE3/4 or INtel 875 etc.

Thanks again. If you hear anything on an NFORCE3 company supporting X2 let me know and you have my order

What are my options as letting the proper people know that Monarch is charging my credit card illegally.

Contact your credit card company and tell them that you haven't received your order and that they've charged you already. They should put a hold the payment to them.

Then contact Monarch and get them to correct this mess.

Good Luck!

Well, I first must say I'm really not 100% sure it is illegal. It's one of those things where I think I had read it somewhere, so it's a policy we stick to in order to be sure. (better safe than sorry!).

I would first take it up with Monarch. Give them the benefit of the doubt here, maybe it was a mistake, maybe they don't realize, etc. They are a good business, so I'd hate to see a simple snafu result in legal problems or a loss of the credibility that they've built up. So first, I would call them and find out what is going on. Everyone makes mistakes, so I'd first give them the opportunity to fix the mistake.

Then, if you don't get satisfactory answers, you could consider legal action. But like I say, I'd first try to work with Monarch, they at least deserve an opportunity to fix it first.

I cant believe you guys are actually paying these crazy prices for these X2's. You just might be the reason for a gouging market. Vendors know your crazy enough to pay these prices, the gouging will never end. Like the PDXE. 1100 dollars? INSANE!!!

How are they really crazy? An equivilent Opteron setup costs even more and you have to get worse ram and a more expensive motherboard. I am thankfull for the X2s. If they were going out later I would have gotten dual 246s (2.0 ghz) for $600

Don't believe "in stock" status most of the time. The majority of those claiming to have these CPUs in stock later claim that shipping will take anywhere from 7-21 days...how convenient

Yeah, I'm sure they don't have them in stock. They're just trying to get more orders by making people think they're there

When the 3500 came out it cost almost $500. For the 2.2GHz X2 part, it costs $100 more than that. You aren't going to get the second core for free. How is that gouging?

Quick update: Outpost is taking pre-orders for 4200+ for a very reasonable price - $550

Text

I was thinking about going the 4200+ route since I can't seem to get the extra $50 needed for the 4400+...still want to do some other upgrades. We'll see though

In stock but the price, dear Lord the price

You can also purchase the boxed processors from the above site. They are listed in stock

Nope. According to someone over @ xs forums, they called and pchardware4u said they don't have any, despite what it says on their site. Not that I can afford one anyway...

Check with your favorite motherboard manufacturers before you give up. Some boards never get listed as officially compatible with AMD, Intel, and MS. I don't actually know, but I suspect it's expensive to get on those lists. Time is probably also a factor. DFI's NF4 PCIE boards support the X2 but aren't on the list. There may be some NF3 AGP boards out there that support the dual core.
