Yeah!!! You insane, wanton buggers... stop pre-ordering these darn X2's so keysplayr2003 and I won't get gouged.

Maaann this makes me mad!!! There's too much consuming going on out there!!!

I've been hearing bad things about Monarch lately. I take most of what I read in these forums with salt, but right now I'm glad I decided to go with the new guys with the right attitude and the better price.

Of the vendors currently taking pre-orders, TankGuys is the only one I'm willing to take a chance on. I'd rather wait for Newegg than order from a company that I don't have good reason to trust. I'll order other things online from companies I've never heard of without even bothing to check with resellerratings.com and the BBB. But for computer parts, I've become very picky. I've been burned a couple times by vendors who expect me to pay for their incompetence, and it's just not worth the risk or hassle.

I might cancel and switch if Newegg or some other vendor known for getting it right has the 4400 in stock before AMD ships to TG. (That TankGuys is the only vendor expecting the retail boxes makes me wonder if someone at AMD goofed when he told TG they'd get retail in the first wave of shipments.) But as I need to get this system put together soon, and it's such an expensive part, I'm not inclined to gamble with companies that don't see customer service as having anything to do with their bottom line.

Wow, I'm almost to the point of regretting ordering from Monarch at this point. No communication from Joe for the past while hasn't made things easier.

If I don't hear something by the end of today (the 16th), I'm canceling and waiting for another source.

They have now moved the date back to the 30th according to their website.

I can tell you we are most likely getting the retail boxed units at the same time as most other stores. We were originally hoping to get them sooner (you were spot on with the screw-up with our AMD rep) but at this point we'll hit at just about the same time as everyone else.

The advantage to pre-ordering in general (not specifically with us, but anywhere) is that you're garaunteed one when they come out, and you'll get it quicker than if you wait until the day of. I can tell you the interest in this chip is incredible... I think last time I checked, nearly 80% of traffic to our site is for that (people searching google for X2's, forum traffic, referrals from froogle, streetprices, etc). I think they are going to sell very fast, so at least the pre-order folks know they'll get one. Incidentally, I'm keeping an eye on other stores as well, because if somebody gets them in before us, we are actually going to tell our customers. We might lose our orders that way, but at least you all get the X2's quicker, and I figure that losing a few sales is probobly worth the good-will it will breed, so everyone is happy.

Thanks for being willing to take a chance with is as well. It's funny; we've actually been in business for a number of years, but we had focused on B2B and educational sales, and those customer types aren't the kind to rate your store on resellerratings or bizrate. So it looks like we are this totally new, unknown company now. I guess we are in the sense that we are completely new to the consumer market, but we've been doing business in general for a while now.

Tank guys....

You have been really good about customer updates but I haven't heard anything from you on whether or not the chips came in yesterday (I'm guessing not).

Yeah, I just saw that and was about to post it. I think egg will gouge on the 4400+'s though. Those 4600+'s are already $30 over tankguys' prices. Not as bad as some places though.

As of yesterday Monarch was fully expecting the OEM X2s to arrive today but as we now know, the expected shipment didn't arrive.

Newegg wasn't able to provide me with information on the other X2s but said they had received 500 of the 4600+!

Where did you find this? I've looked on their site and can't find a list of compatible motherboards.

I've got a Gigabyte K8NS 939 Ultra and an MSI Neo2, both of which are 939 AGP based.

I was just about to order an X2. Glad I read this as it looks like I might have to upgrade the M/B Vid Card first.

/sigh

No dice on the shipment yesterday, I thought I had posted that, but if not, my appologies!

I'm not even going to try and give an ETA this time, other than to say, we'll ship them when we get them. There seems to be mass confusion over these from everyone.

Curious, what does your AMD sales rep tell you? I'm surprised that no one can get a straight answer from someone.

As an fyi - I checked Sparco's website which had also listed 6/7 as an original date then moved it to 6/15 and now's it's 8/1. WTF!

I've sold off my old system. Bought ram, motherboard and now waiting for Antec P180 and X2 4400+ from tankguys. Ugh!!!

Zalman CNPS7700-Cu until the CNPS9500 comes out. Not many heatsinks do better than the copper 7700 so I fully expect the 9500 to one up those that are. Amazon has the 7700-CU for a very affordable $38 shipped.

EDIT: It looks like Amazon pulled thier offering of this heatsink. They've been selling it off and on and had it for $37.90 just minutes ago.

They aren't telling us anything now, other than "It will ship when it ships". At this point, even if they did give a date, I wouldn't count on it anwyay.

I'm looking around at other stores too, and like I say, if spot them elsewhere I'll let you guys know so you could buy from them instead if you want, that way you get it sooner. This whole situation is a royal pain for sure, I wish we could do something to get these things in sooner.

The 8/1 date shown is the ETA of one of the major distributors, so I'm guessing that's why Sparco is showing it. That same distributor has show multiple other dates as well so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If, however, they really don't get them until then, I highly doubt anyone else will either.

When I know more, I'll certainly let you guys know, but right now I think everyone but AMD (including AMD even? haha) is pretty clueless.
