Yeah, I'm going to wait until I can buy one for <$600 in stock. I don't have enough spare cash to be getting gouged.

Ditto, the small price difference between the two will be well worth ending my obsessive agonizing, until the tracking number is emailed at least...

Just a shame even with 'next day' shipping it wouldn't arrive till Monday at the earliest. So I went with 2 day.
I am at step 3, card charged an approved

Aside - Anyone checked Tomsharware stresstest recently? Since they disabled HT on the P840 the X2 is now winning ALL 4 tests lol.

The good news is that a number of places have them in stock. Let's hope more will be getting them next week and that'll bring down prices. Fingers crossed.

Hey, before I hit the buy button, anybody know if the MSI neo2 will support the 4400+ ???

As far as what I've seen, only a few boards will take the X2's without a bios flash and the Neo2 isn't one of them. They haven't made an updated bios either, so I think you're going to be waiting on MSI's team on this one.

..currently after further intense studying of this matter...i acn confirm ppl have booted just fine with X2's...what I have not confimred is since it is not official bios what may or may not work fully....

new 1.95 beta bioses floating around "leaked" on 6/15...

Rumor has it AMD had MSI Neo2 in the supported list but removed them after MSI had some issues with it...NOw they are listed as under testing...

Mark use 1.62 or newer and there should be no problem booting from confirmed reports...

Newegg is the ONLY place I have found that lists them in stock.
Most sites won't give a due in date, those that do say end June/start July.

I agree. Just because you can charge that much and get away with it, doesn't mean you should. This is exactly how newegg and other companies can afford to sell some things dirt cheap; they make up for it when they grossly over charge for other things. It's obviously an effective business model, but it just doesn't sit right with me.

However, at least newegg has them right now. I had one of my sales guys (Erik) stay late tonight and e-mail all our pre-order customers to let them know newegg had them in stock. Granted, the are only the OEM version, and it's ridiculously over priced, but I know a lot of people just want the processors now, regardless of the cost. So I guess it's either bite the bullet and over-spend, or wait for who knows how long. Either way is a real shame.

Well, I just hit the buy button on the 4400+ at newegg. I know its about $20 more, but I trust them, and they have it in stock. Duvie will help me OC this baby on my neo2 and XP90.

Agreed.

I really wish you had them in stock, you seem like real class outfit.
Who else would email their customers and tell them somewhere else had them, not many I bet.

Some of the more unsavoury prcatices -
Charging your credit card as soon as you order, despite there being no items in stock. I wonder how many people who pre-ordered Monarchs 4400's May 31st are going to have to wait till June 30th now? While Monarch has their money in the bank and the customer is already accruing interest charges on his credit card.

Monarch has begun to ship the 4400+, I just received my Fedex tracking number for it tonight and it will be at my house on Tuesday. I'm not sure how many they are shipping today, especially since I was probably one of the first few to order (I had my order completed before any forum mentioned X2 pre-orders), but this is a good sign that the CPUs are finally being shipped. Hopefully for everyone else it won't be too long before supply catches up with demand.

I like Newegg, generally, but they want almost $700 just for the OEM 4400+ - screw that. I'll wait it out and buy from some other retailer that's more reasonable.

You must be one of they very, very lucky few, guy I spoke to at Monarch said they only recieved 15 yesterday!!!
He didn't say whether that was 15 of all types of X2, or 15 of the 4400's.

His own words - "I feel like AMD shafted us"

Worse - Apparently Tigerdirect only recieved around 4!!!

Wow. All I have to say to that then is w00t!!!

Although I will have to wait a little while to use it, there are still some others parts for my new system that I won't receive until after I get the x2.

No communication from Monarch for me... I preordered from them on the 2nd, so probably ended up getting bumped to the second batch, which sucks. Oh well, Newegg appears to have them in stock yet because they did charge my card, so that's good...

That sucks...

I have everything but the X2...

Will be for both of us in a few days, hopefully.

Not good though - Monarch has probably already charged your card also, in fact they would of on the 2nd when you pre-ordered.

They did. (and that's what I wasn't very pleased with either after finding out about it - unlike other places they don't just put a hold on the money.) I canceled the order recently though, so we'll see what happens from here...

Ahhh.

Bad practice to fully charge for an item before they actually get it. A hold on the specified amount is fair, but a full charge is just a rip.
Unless of course they're willing to pay the interest charges till they ship it (dream on Kev)

I wonder how many orders Newegg have already? Hoping like crazy they have realtime stock control!!!

I get the impression that AMD's marketing people aren't in close contact with the folks who design or make the chips. It seems entirely possible that the AMD sales reps are as much in the dark as the rest of us.
