I'm bumping to subscribe to the thread for updates, and am looking forward to ordering a 4400+ from you guys as soon as you get them in stock.

Just another person looking to buy a 4400+.

EDIT:
I just found this on AMDs site. A list of partners who will be selling the X2. Many of the links are down, but this does indicate that many retail sites will start selling the dual cores very soon.

Yikes, that's a longer wait than I was expecting... Some were saying that they would ship on the 7th. Oh well, it beats a month or more. :sigh;

MonarchJoe, I wish we could preorder in a combo, since I don't have an existing A64 processor to boot the board with to load a dualcore-supporting BIOS. Will that be possible?

What do you consider MSRP. The $537 price for a 4200+ was in large quantities (in other words, what monarchcomputer pays), so the $579 at monarch means they make $42 on each processor. I think they need to make money to stay in business.

And the 4600 at monarch is the same as sparco, and the 4800 is cheaper!

Don't forget those cpus are OEM so there is NO MSRP for those anyways - by definition

Ok, it seems that from other research around the forums, that most boards (except Epox and Abit) can boot with the X2's - the BIOS updates are supposedly only to ensure that the processors are properly recognized and perhaps to keep Windows happy. Things are looking hopeful. :thumbsup:

MSRP = Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price....not what the vendors are paying for them...The MSRP usually includes a nice profit in there already...Also I was thiking the MSRP numbers as listed by AT and numerous other sites would have been for retail boxes...OEM chips with 60 day warranties should be less in my opinion....

Those price ain't MSRP, they are wholesale in quantities of 1000 units (tray)... In a way it's a OEM price

Where you get that IDEA? Anand says price:
http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=2397

No 1000's of chips no OEM.

Nowhere does it say OEM or in 1000 units.....BUT!!! Also nowhere does it say MSRP.....I guess the only ppl who know what the true cost to the vendors and distributors is the vendors and distributors....

But in the AMD price list it says its a PIB price (processor in a box)

AMD should set their own records first. As for others, well, I think u should go to the source to find out the true MSRP

Yep I see your point.....it is a bit confusing...So monarch is a direct buyer??? Do they buy 1000 units??? If so then they are making 40+ per cpu plus not giving us PIB which should cost about 30 bucks more then same OEM model.....I wonder how Sparco.com can sell them for only 10 over....I woner how memoryusa.com can sell them at exact prices listed at AMD and they show boxes but no confirmations on that cause it may just be a gif image and not correct....
