I disagree.

If they have these in stock (and Newegg's real-time inventory system is superb) I don't see what the big deal is charging more for them.

You can either pay the extra or WAIT.

I bought my Retail X2 4400+ for $625 at mwave. Mwave has them in stock right now for $650. Thus, they've marked them up $25 more. Screwegg originally priced the Retail X2 4400+ for $669 then $689 and now $719. That's price gouging at it's finest.

No, my friend ... Newegg started at $639 if I remember right... so it's gone up a bit more than you think.

The $639 was for OEM and not Retail. And $639 for an OEM is absurdly priced.

I think it was previously mentioned before, but Newegg probably doesn't have many 4400+ processors left, probably in the low teens. If they didn't raise the price, they probably won't even have any in stock.

Zip-SCREW-Fly

Don't trust Zip Zoom Fly's in stock status--they're probably out.

I ordered my 4200+ from them a week ago (6/28) and recieved confirmation later that afternooon that everything shipped. However, by the time friday rolls around (the package is now 2 days overdue) I call FedEx and ask them why the tracking number they emailed me doesn't work. FedEx says the label was printed, but the package hasn't been shipped yet. I now have to call Zip and thankfully they're not closed yet. After a half-hour of waiting for a call-back, I finally got a hold of someone who told me the 4200+ is out of stock. I told them that thier website said it was not only in-stock when I ordered, but the website showed the 4200 as "in-stock" for at least the last four days. Zip kept telling me the website is incorrect. They never told me that any of my items was back ordered until I had to hassle them over the phone.

I'm still waiting for my 4200 that was SUPPOSED to be in stock. If I knew I was going to deal with this kind of crap, I would have just spent another $20 and ordered it from newegg.

For those of you who already recieved their X2 Chip:

I installed a A64 X2 4400 with the stock fan. The heatsink is pretty impressive (large with copper).

The only issue is that is gets loud once i start gaming. The speed increases from about 3200 rpm to 5500 rpm and it gets noisy.

Is there any way of changing a bios or other setting so that it doesn't get as fast until the temp goes to a specific level. I'm thinking that it doesn't need to get to over 4000rpm to keep the cpu cool enough.

Yep. Everyone here gripes about "Screwegg" but the one reason I still use them almost exclusively is their real-time inventory. If you order it and it is listed IN STOCK, it is. You won't get an e-mail a couple hours later about it being backordered.

Thanks badsteve1 for the post about outpost.com having the x2's in stock. I ordered a 4400+ for $609 with 2day shipping and it was shipped yesterday. It will be here tomorrow. Seems like a good deal compared to what other places are charging.

Did it say "Call for Availability" when you ordered it, or was it listed as being in stock at the time?

Hey folks.

I saw Nippyjuns post and my heatsink/fan gets incredinly loud also.
Im wondering if it has to do with my using the 1.9 beta bios on the MSI Neo Platinum 2. Or is it just this stock fan.

Nippyjun, what motherboard are you using?

Tigerdirect was screwing around with our money for a week and today I finally canceled it - after several forced answer it became obvious they won't get ANY shipment before 15th, guys.

I bought a retail 4400+ at mwave.com - it's about $4x extra but at least it was on stock when I ordered (I called in before). Enough from waiting; my dual G5 lacks plenty of sw I use on my PC.

Yes. AMD is very hard to predict, but I'd be very surprised if they went from news leak to widespread availability in less than two months.

That was sooo predictable... and exactly why I didn't order from them. Scumbags!

This should infuriate some folks:

I ordered my 4800+ from newegg (for $1040) almost a week ago on a pre-paid check type order. So it is just sitting there waiting for my money to arrive and clear while everyone else is getting next day shipping and paying by credit card. Almost seems unfair in some way... I didn't pick next day shipping or anything either, so from order to delivery it will be around 2 weeks but I am holding up an in-stock processor.

Is this wrong of me? (Not that I will void the order or anything, just wondering...)

No, but It makes me wonder why you paid with check? I dont care if you dont have a debit card, just give a thousand bucks to someone who does.

You aren't really holding up an instock processor. You paid for it, and it's "yours" regardless of when it leaves the newegg warehouse.

Now, if you were calling them, sending bad checks, etc where you weren't actually buying it and actually tying it up, that would be different! As it is, don't feel bad, there's nothing wrong with what you did, and you're not causing any more delays for anybody.

The main reason I am paying by cheque is that I don't want anything changing with my credit score for the next two weeks. Closing on a house next week. I have the cash to buy it, but I don't want my debt-income ratio changing at the last minute. I have heard horror stories.

That's quite a system you have coming in your sig! Is that a house-warming gift for yourself?
