They're getting closer and closer to the anime. Besides, they're not as bad as the Naruto fillers.Originally posted by: Xylitol

It's startin to piss me off
It's been what like 3x now that they did this?
Are you kidding?
The episodes with Don Kanoji are so bad that I only watch the preview for the next episode.

I have the same player, the problem is not really the player, i'd say it's all TV's. the overlay caused the tv not to be able to display everything. Also on some TV's the problem is worse.
Certain sub groups would stick the subtitles a bit higher so you can see it better, for example Yakitate Japan.
When I convert .avi's to dvds, I had to put a black boarder around the actual video to fix this problem.

does changing the frame resolution help? can you tell me how big of a black border is necessary to get the naruto episodes to safely show up on a tv when played through the DVP-642? i know it's a little vague. my brother has a sony wega 27" tv and the subtitles aren't showing up correctly right now.

This is how I do it,
source aspect ratio : 1:1 (VGA)
Video arrange Method Center (custom size)
680 by 456
It seems to work well, it adds black borders around the pic, this works for Naruto episodes, you might have to play with the custom size a bit but then again, different tv have different overscan areas.

with my episodes (either aone or db), the video frame is 640x480 to start. you shrink the height down to 456?
