I think 28 ... Kf6 would've allowed you to hang on longer. Then K to g7 or f8 as needed. Unless I missed something, then both of you have to waste time making queenside pawn moves for a while, and eventually I think you get into zugzwang, but that last part is just a guess.

But yeah, K+N vs K+B is hard with so much open space. N has a hard time against passed pawns.

how do you challenge someone?

edit: Is there a clan or tournament that needs to be joined?

no, you're right, i made a couple bad decisions and i paid. the best i could've done is hold on longer but that gets old.

rise: I'd be interested in a game... but I'm currently at the 6-game max I'll send you a challenge when I get an open spot?

baoytl: you challenge people by (well, after you register) clicking on "new game" and entering the opponent's username OR letting RHP suggest an opponent. Alternatively, you can click on Find Player or Public games to access player profiles & challenge them from their profile (on the left margin there's a "Challenge player" link)

Yeah on a whole this thread seems to be puckering out, lol.

Thanks rise and eLiu, but I meant is there a tournament or a ATOT club to join so we know who's who. Anyways, if anyone's interested in a game, lmk.

Too easy for people to cheat at this though. I hate cheaters!!!
Get yourself a decent chess program and set the difficulty to high.

When someone challenges you through the "ATOT chess game", just play the game through the seperate chess program and see how the the computer moves and duplicate this move with the person you're playing with through ATOT.

I don't know how many times I lost before the person I played with told me how he won

well, that's discouraging. i just thought these would be friendly games wth cheats anyway, it's a damn game, if you lose you hope to learn something, if you win, well, trash talk

Ok, I just got an opening. I'll leave it open for an ATOT challenge. My username is ehliu, so rise, baoytl, or whoever, feel free to send me a challenge.

As for tourneys, as rise said, this thread was originally a tourney but there doesn't seem to be much going on. I'm not sure what you mean by clubs. Do you mean like a clan on RHP? You have to be a paying subscriber, so I doubt that would take off.

Thanks rise. You played pretty well though I don't know why you gambited the pawn early.

Kf6 stalls awhile, but I still have a pawn majority on the kingside that I just push. Eventually I should have one pawn on the seventh with his king on the eighth rank. At that point I just sac the pawn since my king is closer to his pawns than the other way around.

Edit: Anyone who wants to play, just send me a message on RHP that your from ATOT and I'll add you to my buddy list (otherwise my filters will reject the game).

FYI if they did this on RHP, please use the "send feedback" link on any page to report them. That is specifically against the TOS on that site and Russ and Chris are good about banning blatant cheaters.

That's true. Hmm then going back a few moves, do you think Black has drawing chances after 23 ... Kc6 instead of the played 23 ... Ne6? Then the N can go e6->f4 and I feel like Black is not out of the woods but doing better.

Also... looking at the rest of the game instead of doing my take home exam:
I'm pretty sure Qe7 is questionable... some regular developing moves would've been better.

Then I think White missed 5 Qd5. Then 5 ... Nc6 is forced, followed by 6 Bb5 to press the attack, forcing 6 ... Qd7 or 6 ... Bd7, both aren't that appealing. Continuations may include if 6 ... Qd7, then 7 Ng5 or if 6 ... Bd7 then 7. exd6. Both situations leave white with better development, 1 pawn up, and the only center pawn.

Other than that, black probably should've castled a few moves earlier... and the kingside pawn pushing wasn't particularly well coordinated.

It's a slight improvement. I won't change my strategy though. Exchange rooks, push f7 and even if I lose that one pawn, the resultant endgame is trivial due to the extra kingside pawn.

Good observation on 5. Qd5 I didn't even consider it I just wanted the free pawn.

C'mon guys, we can't let this thread die

Anyway baoytl vs eliu is over. I think 9 Qe2 wasn't so great for my opponent; something like Bb5 would've been better as it prevents my Nd4 -> Nxf3 threat. After that I just piled up on the queenside. 21 Rag1 was really bad for White though; loses a queen. I think the only move was 21 exf5. Good game

I think you wasted some time overextending the knights. After you took my bishop I had a slight advantage because of more development and not having my weak bishop. Your big mistake was B-e4 which allowed me to pin your knight.

Thanks for the game:beer:
