I love Killer Mike and I like El-P but while I like listening to it, I don't find anything particularly memorable about Run The Jewels either. It seems like more of a concept album than anything else, a little disjointed and kind of a 'style over substance' approach.

Hieroglyphics x Sleeprockers - The Kitchen
http://www.spin.com/articles/hieroglyphics-the-kitchen-album-stream-sleeprockers/

Available for streaming day before official release!

I like what I'm hearing. Some great tracks. But kind of feel more to be desired after having waited 10 years for a new album.
Doesn't seem like there's anywhere near as many memorable or dynamic tracks compared to their previous albums either.
But still a dope album from this legendary group that shouldn't be slept on.

Zaytoven actually made a beat that I like. Not sure if it's the production or the video but the breakdowns all take away from the song unfortunately. Only like the second Playa Fly song I've ever heard lol, but this and "Gone So Long" are both pretty good.

I know it was briefly discussed at some point...but does anyone watch rap battles here? Arsonal v. Aye Verb should be dropping any hour now.

I forgot Tonedeff released an EP earlier this year.
He's been pretty damn inconsistent past few years, that when he does make some moves, it's easy to miss.

Much like his previous project, this is a bit different of a sound than the traditional hip hop he's been best known for.
I really wasn't expecting the drastic change in sound, but it grew on me before I finished listening to the EP. Was enjoyable.
Looking forward to the other 3 ep's in the Polymer project if they are going to be this damn good.

The ones where people's feelings get hurt and they are all salty? YES. I just watch the ones from New York though.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of 93 'Til Infinity, Souls of Mischief graciously opened their vaults to give Gummy Soul the exclusive acapellas of their classic album, to remix for the first time ever.

As the framework of the project, Gummy Soul’s Wally Clark, dug through his extensive record collection, and gathered all of the songs that were sampled to make hip-hop in 1993. Jazz, Funk and Soul songs, used to create classics from Digable Planets, Snoop Dogg and Black Moon, were then re-contextualized to provide familiar, yet updated versions of some of hip-hop’s most beloved material.

"I wanted to take all of the records that people used back then, and create new compositions using the same techniques they were using – such as filtered bass lines, classic drum breaks, echo-y horns – to make an album that sounds like it could have been released in 1993," says Clark. "It was an amazing exercise trying to capture the essence of a sacred time in hip-hop. It also allowed me to playfully use samples that are normally deemed off-limits, because they are too well known."

Be on the look out for Soul's of Mischief's new album "There Is Only Now," produced by Adrian Younge, as well as the 93 'Til documentary, featuring Questlove, Mos Def, 9th Wonder, Pete Rock and more.

Was good stuff.
Am infinitely sad I'll be missing the show when he comes throw with a live band.
