There was some sloppy play back and forth, but the last 5 minutes or so of that game were absolutely electrifying. What a finish.

besides the 100 yard kick return, I can't fault Auburn much for losing. The big play on the final drive was the back breaker, but it was a quick slant that the receiver found a seam to run through.

The only thing that puzzled me about the final quarter is that Auburn stopped bringing the heat. They routinely rushed 4 linemen, and never really got to Winston in the decisive series.

#11 for Auburn had one of the worst individual performances I can remember.

Pretty good game. Probably the most exciting championship game since Texas vs USC. Whats up with the defenses though. 100 yard kick off return, and two 80 yard TD drives in the last three minutes. If there was another 30 sec on the clock Auburn probably would have won!

What a game! Auburn looked like the better team (outgained FSU by almost 100 yards) but the poor automatic TD pass on the first drive and the missed field goal cost them.

I absolutely agree that would be the logical thing to do, but it's so counter to the spirit of football.

I think the Ahmad Bradshaw thing in the Super Bowl was different because it was a short run at the very end of the game. You can't really expect a guy to stop before the end zone on a long run. If players started doing that more often I'm sure it would eventually become unsportsmanlike conduct.

Its easy to say in hindsight, but there is no guarantee you get the score. He did the right thing.

It's easy to say, but like you said, it's not what lost the game. This strategic issue was discussed in the NFL playoffs thread, and it is something that is occurring more often.

It be might different if they were only down 1 or two and you could run the clock down and kick a chip shot FG to win. Or they were already ahead by a couple and a FG would mean they need a TD to beat you, but going up by 4 with 80 sec to play should be a done deal. Especially the way the game was going, you cant account for FSU going 80 yards in 67 sec. Gotta play some defense, and they didnt. Even if one thinks the worse case scenario would have been a FG, there is no guarantee you win in OT.

Glad they all stepped up in the 2nd half and got it done. It's been a long time since the last one for FSU. At least the Kia dealership is off the hook.

If FSU did not convert that fake punt there would have been zero momentum left in FSU. Would have loved to see an Alabama FSU NC. I truly think Alabama is a stronger team. Auburn is not known for their defense and they basically handled FSU and Winston.

Fun game, but AU can only blame themselves. They could have really taken FSU out of the game early, but dropped an easy TD pass on their first drive, and then missed a 33 yard FG in the 2nd quarter.

For a little while there, they really did seem like a team of destiny.

Yes the same Alabama team that could care less about Oklahoma. None of those guys are going to play to their full capacity for a game that means nothing. Same thing happened to Florida with Louisville last year. Florida sucked this year but last year they were going to place third. These teams especially Alabama have a ton of NFL talent. No way are the players going to risk injury to say that beat an average team. If they are not in national championship the season is a failure.

I am not trying to take away anything FSU. They have a great team and won the NC without question. I prefer them over Auburn. But I think they would have been a different story if they went through the SEC gauntlet. I thought FSU was unstoppable but they can be beaten. My friend had a great way of looking at it. FSU can beat anyone in the SEC. They have the talent to do it. Can the win the SEC Championship? No way.
